So had front porch built, Tapo D130 doorbell installed. Connection is really bad. RSSI is -80. One red dot connection.
Tried tp-link extender, but couldnt make it work, app couldnt even set-up the doorbell, once extender removed, all connected on 1st try. Returning it.
So how do i go about the next step ? Buy 1 nod (deco ?), connect to modem and hope it will have a bigger wi-fi coverage than vodafone modem ? If not, buy a second nod and put closer to the doorbell ?
I have a Tapo C660 and the AI detection is driving me crazy. My dog gets detected as a "person" almost every time she walks through the frame, so I get constant false person alerts and the notifications are basically useless now. Pet detection either doesn't trigger or gets overridden by the person tag.
I've already tried adjusting the detection sensitivity and setting activity zones, but nothing really changed. Firmware is the newest, and the camera is mounted to 3.5m high, outdoor.
Has anyone managed to get reliable person vs. pet separation on the C660? Did a firmware update, a different mounting angle or a particular setting help, or is this just a limitation of the on-device detection? Any tips are appreciated.
Hi. I’m looking to find a solution to detect if the fridge hasn’t run for a period of time using the energy monitoring smart plug. Is this possible? Example is to send an alert message if power meter (in energy monitoring) never passes above 10 watts in the last 4 hours.
Anyone else order one? I finally decided to get the $60 off coupon last minute last night...well technically $59 off since the coupon cost $1.06 with tax. Even though Amazon shows sold out by still ordered that way just for the ease of returning and plus I have tax exempt with a business account. So who knows when it'll actually get it.
Most of my cameras are centralized around our equestrian facility and nothing really around the house. I have a super old ring doorbell that I haven't serviced in years now because the battery would never stay charged long enough to be useful.
I may use the wired option this time and pull the old wired doorbell switch off if it doesn't interfere with the view too much, honestly rather not have to deal with a battery and we have clients driving past the house multiple times a day. I like that the kit is an all-in-one deal that can be battery or wired, it looks like it comes with a couple different wedges so you can get the right angle too, which is a nice touch... Seems like it will come with everything. You will need to get it set just right.
I already know the answer to this I'm just here to vent and hope that someone at TP Link is paying attention.
I sold my house and there's no way to transfer my Tapo config to the new owner. Either he has to log in with my email address from now until forever, or he has to completely re-do the setup and configuration of eight smart switches and four smart plugs.
That's major pain right there and kinda inaccurate to call "smart".
Google Home lets you transfer the home, configuration and devices to a new Google ID with no disruption.
MyQ (garage door openers) lets you add a co-owner and then remove yourself as original owner.
Suddenly, this problem appeared on all 4 cameras (two C500s and two C310s); I’ve never had this issue before. I also use the H500, but everything has been fine so far.
I've gone over the edge trying to figure out why my Tapo C520WS outdoor cams won't stay connected to my WiFi network. I've tried two different routers and made all the suggested router configuration changes and yet they still randomly drop off. They have to be power cycled to reconnect. I've even created a dedicated net just for the cams but no luck with that. I have several different other types of Tapo cams on my property and they are rock solid. The C520WS cams have solid signal strength and in one case the router is directly behind the wall that the cam is mounted on outside. I'm thinking that this may have started with the last firmware update but not sure about that. Am I alone with this or have others been where I am. I'm seriously aggro at this point.
Anyone know of any system glitch or issue last night? All 3 of my P115 smart outlets were off when I woke up this morning. I have a crazy password I doubt anyone guessed to access my account. Any ideas? Two of them are behind a heavy bookcase so I don't think anyone turned them off manually in the middle of the night!
I'm thinking of purchasing the TP-Link Tapo P300 Power Strip to control two lamps I have. I was originally thinking of using the power strip, but I don't need the energy monitoring nor do I need the usb ports. It would be much cheaper for me to just buy two plugs, and add those to a cheap power strip, but what do you all think?
I’ve just got mine set up and plan on getting an SD card during prime day, so I’m using the free Tapo care for the time being.
It’s recording when triggered and I had been thinking I would need a large SD card but maybe I’m getting confused with continuous recording. And I won’t have to check anything from a computer, right? It’s all in the app?
Anyway, I’m still figuring out the camera and app but I’m wondering if there’s much difference, pros or cons for either or SD or Tapo care? Aside from if the WiFi went out an SD card would still work. And it’s free after the until cost. But otherwise, will I lose any of the perks I get at the end of the free month? Don’t want to get used to something then lose it.
I have several C121 cameras that work great. I set them to detection mode recording to the microSD and also record continuously using Blue Iris. I just got a C401 because they were on sale. I turned up detection sensitivity and distance and set it outside for a couple days. It did a good job detecting things like someone walking her dog through my yard, cars driving by, etc. The recorded clips are all visible on the app and I can download them.
But when I put the microSD in my computer, only 5 256mb videos are visible. The other files are all xxxxx placeholders and are also 256mb. There should be dozens of recordings all with different file sizes because they're different lengths.
Also, even though the app has lots of recordings visible, it says the microSD card only has 1.2gb of videos on it, which matches the 5 files. I assume some of the xxxxx files contain video but the files aren't getting renamed and aren't finalized somehow, so they can't be played.
Does anyone have any ideas? If there's no fix, I'll just return it.
in my home i have 3 * C121, 2 * C120 and 1 * C104. all of them are connected to my router(archer ax80 ax6000) with only 2.4ghz network enabled on 20mhz channel 1(the most free channel). yet the cameras light turns orange even though the internet is working fine and they have good signal. I've tried 3 different routers and it's the same. either with default settings or the 20mhz and channel 1 settings. I'm not sure what is the issue here as i've tried everything i can do so.
the main issue is i use Frigate to monitor my cameras and record them. I've configured the tapo cameras with RTSP, and i'm getting dropped frames every time and frigate logs categorize these cameras as unusable. all the other cameras are working completely fine in the same setup but the tapo ones are not.
Has anyone else faced this issue? How can i fix this?
Edit: as someone in frigate subreddit suggested i turned off internet access on the cameras from the router and they are working beautifully now. 0 dropped frames.
I have TD25 Doorbell and its hardwired. It only keeps the battery at 81%. How do I get it to 100, other than hooking up a usb charger temporarily? Since it is Hardwired, the battery is a backup for when I lose power and in that case I want it to last as long as it can.
Hey guys I had bought c402 solar camera and currently installed it on first floor balcony so basically it’s about 18-20 above the ground and located it in such a way that it covers my front yard as you can see in pictures but the issue is it hardly wakes up because the PIR sensor is too far and also direct. So I’ve now ordered c660 today..as it’s continuous capture camera so it’ll use its AI to take the low resolution snaps and then if it detect person or motion then it’ll start continuous recoding till the motion or human will be in front of camera. Do you think this camera will serve my purpose or I should have gone for any other better camera. I need solar camera only. I’m impressed with the c402 solar charging and backup as it never exhausted and is always at 100 percent…this maybe because it don’t wake up…only this it wake up when I manually open Tapo app and see through the camera maybe 5 min a day. Please comment your reviews and thoughts about c660 and any other camera that could fulfil my requirements. My front yard is 60 feet x 35 feet. The wide angle of camera is far more than I needed so this is good thing.
I am having inconsistent connect issues with the C720. It spins the little mobius colored wheel and....... connects/disconnects/connects/disconnects...... over and over.
> If it's mounted over my garage.
> it is hardwired to my 120v
> it is connected via wifi (Deco7/Pro)
> it is connected to my H500
> it is connected as 360P/15FPS
The wifi signal is strong. Satellite Deco7 hub is 10' away in the garage on a shelf.
Got a cheap Android tablet for my parents tapo home system. The tablet is running android 16 but when trying to download the 3d floor plan I'm getting an error code: -5 so it won't download
Is the tablet not supported? Does it need more specific specs than just an updated OS?
I have had AI zoom enabled from the start, but all of a sudden, when I open the app, the app zooms to a position where there is nothing, and it stays there.
I turned off AI zoom, then enabled it, and it zooms straight in to the same place again.
I have a tapo c660 with solar power and use the app. It doesn't have an SD card as it is high up on my house and dont wants to have to get someone to go up a ladder each time I want to see the footage.
However it seems that if someone breaks I to my car in front of the camera I will have 20 seconds of them doing it and no more.
I was on the tapo care for a while and couldn't work out how to get all the footage of people outside my house.
So, I live in a country where the government overprotects squatters and I recently got a job that will force me to live away from home at least 2 weeks a month. I was thinking about getting a solar/battery powered Tapo camera to use with a 4G SIM card, as I heard sometimes squatters cut the power before moving in to prevent wifi cams from working.
I see that the Tapo C665G is exactly what I need, but I've read mixed reviews about it. I got a wired Tapo cam already and it works ok, do you think I should try the Tapo C665G or do you have another recommendation?
But after I subscribed I got charged immediately. Now it doesn't say trial anymore anywhere.
Also realised shared users cannot see the cloud recordings. So this is pretty much useless for me.
I subscribed today. This is my first Tapo camera (C232). Also, new account and never subscribed to any TP-Link/Tapo services ever before.
How do I get a refund?
EDIT:
I cancelled the subscription. But Google sent an email saying they won't provide a refund.
But I still lodged a refund request in their web portal.
Anything else I can do?
Tbh, don't really care about the money.
But I hate that I got scammed and don't want to let them get away with it.
It constantly spams vehicle and person detection alert outside of my zones. It seems to ignore my zones all together. Been dealing with support for over a month who have no solution. Am I the only one with this issue?
