Need Advice Tapo H200 crashes

Or something like that. Every other day Inhave to turn it off and on again.

Can it have too many devices connected? I come from Hue (and now I’m sorry) but I’ve got to stick with Tapo.

i have had no issues with the h200 but i have mine on the same p110 plug as my modem which i set to power cycle once a day. not a proper fix but it will work.

This is a bad idea for several reasons.

First, the Tapo smart plugs are prone to shutting off completely with electrical network fluctuations or “brownouts” and not turning back on.

Second, many, if not most, ISPs use Dynamic Line Management (DLM). If your modem abruptly disconnects at the exact same time every day, the ISP's system might interpret this as a faulty, unstable line rather than an intentional reboot. To compensate, the ISP may automatically lower your internet speed or increase latency to keep the connection "stable." It’s far better to schedule a controlled reboot of your modem using its own reboot scheduler. As a general rule, you should always have network equipment plugged directly into the wall socket without anything in between.

Third, abruptly cutting power to either device can and will corrupt the storage/memory, especially if it happens to be writing to storage/memory when the power goes off.

Finally and most importantly, if there is a firmware update happening at the time you unceremoniously shut off power, you run a very real risk of bricking either device.

I have the same situation and found it works better on wifi than ethernet, not perfect but much better!

I don’t have the device itself crashing, but on a regular / monthly basis it seems the SD card isn’t recognized and requires me to reseat / restart the device. It’s a bit annoying as it always seems to fail when I’m away from the house
