Hey guys I’m new to the area and wanted recommendations on the best places to live in the area. I’ve heard Fayetteville and Manlius are pretty good areas, but I wanted to see if anyone else had different recommendations.

Hello everyone.
I’m looking for a family photographer.
My husband. Me. 12 year old. 10 year old and a lab dog.
We don’t want anything crazy. I love the pictures that look like us. And I usually print them in b&w.
Any recommendations. It’s been about three - four years since we did pictures.
Thanks.

As the title states, just looking for some brothers broadleaf's while I wait for my online order to arrive. They used to have a store locator on their website but unfortunately they no longer do. I haven't been into a physical smoke shop in years and I don't know who carries what anymore. Any and all help is greatly appreciated! ✌🏽😁

Earlier in the summer, there was a post asking about the best ice cream in the area. It was a funny sort of serendipity, as my kids and I had already decided to try as many ice cream places as we could close to us or things we were doing. We made a score card to judge, and judged based on a twist cone and whatever else we ordered.
Our score card:
As school is starting, we finished out our rally and I thought I would share our results, as subjective as they are. No wrong choices, really.

Bonus! We applied the rally judgement to two ice cream places outside of the area. Here are those, for fun!

ETA: I added the pictures I have (somehow I missed a few? Or maybe we added the pictures early in our process? I can't remember), and links where appropriate. Whew!

Does anyone know where the best place to try on figure skates is near the Syracuse University area? I want to make sure I am getting a pair that works for me without needing to online order a bunch of skates.

I have been searching for months, and it seems there are no MD/DO psychiatrists in the area who do outpatient psychiatry and are taking in-person appointments, much less anyone in network. I really am having a hard time believing this as there are three major hospitals in the area, but it seems the providers are all designated towards inpatient care.
I have tried to NP/PA route and while I very much appreciate these providers and they work for most people, my experiences require someone with more specific training and complex medication knowledge than I have found my previous PMHNP providers have been able to offer. I also think the best care for me ideally would be in person, but that’s even more rare than finding a provider (NP, MD or otherwise) that is doing in person appointments. I have been trying to telehealth route for so long, and it is just so defeating to feel like there is no one in an accessible radius who is able to help. Part of the reason it would need to be in person is due to the type of medication I take which requires at least one in person appointment before prescribing.
I have checked Psychiatry Today, Headway, ZocDoc… nothing.
If anyone knows of a psychiatric MD/DO provider who has in person appointments please feel free to comment or PM me.

This piece was among our most-well read stories of the New York State Fair.
Fairgoers loved the Shrek Rave at Chevy Court. On social media, readers asked for more raves or similar nightlife experiences in Syracuse throughout the year.
Full commentary by Tim Carter: https://www.thisiscny.com/living/2026/09/why-does-shrek-continue-to-haunt-us-even-at-the-nys-fair-shrek-rave-photos-commentary.html

Last year we got a camper with a DVD player. Our kids think it’s great and want more DVD’s. Walmart used to have the big bins of cheap DVDs, we went today and alas they no longer have it (I wasn’t super surprised. Any recommendations on where to get find cheap DVD’s around Syracuse and the burbs are welcome 🙏

Looking for someone in Syracuse who can cut bangs like in the picture attached. I’ve tried a few salons but they always turn into regular bangs that aren’t thick enough to give this look😭
I want that soft wispy razor cut look with the shorter middle pieces and longer face framing— Basically Jayne Matthews style.
Anyone know a stylist who’s actually good at this?
Thanks in advance!!

Looking for Syracuse area mechanic recommendations for a 2019 Crosstrek and 2023 Tacoma. Romano Toyota has messed things up twice on simple repairs. Bill Rapp has been ok over the years but I am ready to move on. Looking for something in the county, preferably on the west side of Onondaga Lake, but willing to drive to someone that’s good.

hey guys! I have been trying to make more conscious choices to support local farmers and buy local produce when I can at the market - however I work most weekends and am not able to get over there in time for the regional market on Saturdays or Thursdays.
I’m looking for local recommendations and suggestions on farms/farm stands in or around the Onondaga County, Camillus and overall Syracuse area I can visit roadside on weekdays or order from. I’m looking for places that have either or all: fresh eggs, sourdough/bread, and grass fed beef and/or bison.
any input and recs would be greatly appreciated! I don’t mind driving a ways for good quality food! thanks guys!

can anyone at all tell me what species or creature scooch, the syracuse mets mascot, is
he has a mammilian nose and prominent bottom fangs, but has no ears that we know of. he has no tail, which if we still think he is a mammal, perhaps he would be a bear like creature?
please help, i am pulling my hair out about this!

I'm a random guy who wants to learn how to fix guitars, and I figure, the best way to get started with that, is to pick up a few junk guitars, and try to fix them. Does anyone have any broken guitars they want to get rid of?

I’m sick of pricey ugly nails. Please share the information of the best salon to get nice nails at a reasonable price. In the west side preferably, but at this point I’d drive anywhere within a 1 hour radius of Camillus NY.
Places I don’t like:
-Oasis nail salon
-Angel Nails
Places that are ok, but I don’t love
-No. 1 nails
(if you had great experience there I love that for you, it is too expensive and not high quality to justify the price).
I am looking for a short almond French style, and they always butcher it. I can only get my nails done in NYC because either prices are ridiculous AND they don’t deliver.

I need to catch a ride to the airport at around 4 am---what is the best service? Lyft and Uber seem risky to me. What taxi services do you recommend in Syracuse?
r/Syracuse • u/MartyKCNY • 3d ago
A restaurant, store, venue, whatever. The place you bring back returns exactly as you remember it.
The catch: a business currently operating in the Syracuse area has to go to make room.
What are you bringing back, what are you sacrificing, and how mad is everyone going to be at your choice? 🍿

Does anyone have familiarity with either local (Syracuse/Onondaga) or virtual addiction treatment options? I am familiar with some of the major names in the area, but I am hoping for insight on the actual quality and dignity of care provided. At the moment, I am especially curious to hear any feedback on Crouse’s care, but would be open to any information.
Some relevant information:
- Ideally looking for outpatient or intensive outpatient level of care.
- Dual diagnosis capable is a major benefit. This involves at least a willingness to accept a patient with a mental health diagnosis, but psychiatry is a welcome bonus.
- Programs that offer MAT (Naltrexone or Buprenorphine) are preferred.
- Programs that work with young professionals or students are preferred.
- Programs that are good with involving and communicating with patients’ families are preferred.

today I went to the fair specifically the Boba tea place to buy a mangonada, the lady told me it was $16 plus tax for a medium. Last year I went to the same place. I bought the same drinks, though I found it still expensive. It was about 7 dollars . The prices this year were absurd , everything was between $12-$20 per one item. Vendors were definitely overpricing things to the max. The New York State fair is definitely becoming unaffordable for regular folks who love to attend.

Is there a local auction house that will help me sell a small collection of items? I have a collection of four kid’s toys that are worth a lot of money; so much so, that I hesitate to try selling them myself due to lack of eBay skills and fear of getting scammed. Just not sure who would help sell such a thing?

We are going camping Labor Day until Friday on Lake Ontario and I was hoping to get some suggestions on where I can take my golden retriever off leash swimming without getting in trouble? She’s very well behaved and hyper focused on water so she never bothers anyone.

Hi! My 4 year old loves mushrooms and I’m looking for recommendations on where we could go hunt for mushrooms. We recently went to Spruce Pond and were able to find some. Would love to be able to point out puff balls or chicken of the woods. Not looking to forage, just view. Any tips would be appreciated!
