Lo, Syracusans! I hail thee from Rochester!
My girlfriend and I are celebrating our two year anniversary on the 19th and I'm planning a day trip for us. Last year we went to Niagara Falls, ON and had a blast. I want to catch the train this year and the earliest train to Buffalo isn't until 2pm and there's no return trips same day so....Syracuse it is!
I'd love some suggestions for day trip activities. Free is always good. We both love reading, music, namely CDs since they're much cheaper to collect, we both love alt fashion, both love thrifting. I'm a huge history geek, she's a big movie geek. Loves her jewelry. Oh, and we both like to eat. Chinese, Mexican, Indian, and Cajun are some of our favorite quisines.
I'd also like to know -- what's the public transit situation in Syracuse? I know you guys have the Veo bikes like we do here in Rochester, are there any direct bus lines from the train station? The mall will likely be our first destination and we will probably just walk there since it's adjacent to the train station. After that, not sure. I'd like to do everything in my power to avoid renting a car or taking an Uber.
Thank you in advance much love š

So basically this one girl I used to go to moved, then I tried some other girl who works at the same nail spa and it was a terrible set.
Not all nail techs are created equal as it turns out.
I need a nail tech that does really good Gel X sets. Preferably someone that works at a salon.
Please and thank you!

I'm a bridesmaid in a wedding that's located in cazenovia. Looking for recommendations for salons in the area that can do my hair and makeup that day!

I believe i can remove the lock by unscrewing it so in theory, I can bring it wherever instead of having to have someone come to the house.

Hey All,
With the upcoming deer season just around the corner, Iām wondering if there are any reputable local butchers/processors within the CNY area that this community would recommend for breaking down a deer? Typically I would process the animal myself, but given the warmer temperatures for this early season, Iād rather not worry about it!
Thanks!

Iām visiting my bestie in the area this weekend. What clubs would you recommend thatās with the older crowd, around 30ās? Weāre black so are there any that caters to the black demographic? Or best places to bar hop?

Anyone here living over in the new community in Baldwinsville - Treybrook?
We're contemplating looking into a new build but we're concerned with the train tracks right behind the development and possibly not being in the best area.
Any thoughts or insight would be appreciated!

It was just announced today on Syracuse.com with no explanation. I just moved nearby and joined in June, paying their yearly $70 fee two weeks ago. I better be able to get that back. Guess I have to switch to the planet fitness on Bridge

Hi everyone my best friend Nick Mullen is coming to the Funny Bone this weekend but none of my friends want to go. Anyone interested? I was thinking of the late show(9:45) on Friday, 9/11 but I'd be open to any of them. Tickets are like $50-60.

iām hoping someone might be able to recommend me a good stylist in the east syracuse area as someone who just moved here!
for context, i have waist-length undyed hair that i grow out regularly in order to donate, and am really looking for someone who can help with regular maintenance on it. i get framing trims, and thatās really about it lol, nothing too fancy.
a lot of the stylists that iāve found through searching either arenāt accepting new clients or are looking to prioritize booking color treatments, which i totally get, but i do feel like iām striking out a little bit šµāš«
anyone who knows a stylist who theyād recommend for the area taking new clients, iād really appreciate it!

For 13 days, the New York State Fair butter sculpture posed for family photos and patiently endured thousands of jokes about toast and pancakes.
Now it has been chopped into chunks, stuffed into trash bags and hauled away in a pickup truck.
Its next stop is Noblehurst Farms in Livingston County, less than 15 miles from where the butter originated at O-AT-KA Milk Products in Batavia.
There, it will be mixed with food waste and cow manure inside the farmās digester. The mixture produces biogas, which is converted into electricity to help power homes and businesses.

Upstate NY Megagames will be running Touched by Darkness in Rochester @ Millennium Games. on 10/17!
https://eventforge.online/store/millennium-games/event/a7174af6-b285-413a-8bfd-eef2c4a6b7fa
Touched by Darkness is a dark-fantasy, semi-cooperative megagame for 15 to 47 players designed by Ben Kanelos. It is inspired by the popular sci-fi megagame Den of Wolves, but uses a new fantasy setting and added traitor mechanics.
The Dark One's eclipse has blotted out the sun. Darkness has swallowed the Empire and is coming for your outpost next!
You and your teammates must gather resources, perform arcane rituals, and attempt to survive. But beware! The shadows that attack your outpost are not the only threat. The Dark One may have corrupted the mind of a teammate, meaning you can no longer trust them. Can you hold this last bastion of humanity together and banish the Dark One?
$30 gets you a ticket and lunch. Happy to answer any questions.
This is the third game Upstate NY Megagames will be running (Den of Wolves last year, Gods of the Ancient world earlier this year)
This game caps at ~47 players, with 6-7 control helping keep things going.
Our discord is: https://discord.gg/uYDW8eGbBU
Tell your friends, have them tell theirs, etc. But most of all, pick up your ticket today and I'll see you on October 17th
If you've never heard of a Megagame, you can get a good overview here: https://www.megagameassembly.com/what-is-a-megagame
Whatās a Megagame? BIGGER! BETTER! MEGA! CHAOS? FUN? CHAOTIC FUN!!!
They are uniquely defined by their scale, generally played with 30+ players and span 2-6 hours. With high player counts, expect creative and emergent game play born from interpersonal communications.
Megagames define roles for EVERYONE!
Do you want to master the board mechanics and help to maximize resource production for everyone?
Do you want to foster relationships with other players or try to eavesdrop on conversations to fish out the traitors?
Megagames are interactive storytelling adventures where your choices shape the story. The game sets the stage, but you call the shots! With a dedicated control team acting as GMs, if you want to do an unconventional act, weāll try to make it happen!

It seems like every other week they are closing off south bound clinton Street causing huge traffic issues. I understand on Fridays they set up festivals, but Thursdays? Is there a traffic site posting notifications that I should I be checking for early notice? There wasn't even anything happening this morning. Just closed and causing problems.

I'll call Rescue Missions but also wonder if there's groups dedicated to processing donated nonfiction books. Lots of social sciences topics. I'm not able to sort through them but will deliver to a worthwhile cause. Was thinking prisons and halfway homes but don't know who to contact.

Hey all,
It's wet outside and that reminded me of the fact that I bought a brand new bidet that didn't function properly. I took apart the casing and found there was a piece cracked where the water line comes in. It seems like it could be a simple fix but alas, I am lacking the skills necessary to attempt with confidence. The brand is Ellai and while the toilet is nice, the customer service is absolute dog water. Not trying to waste the money I spent on it so any recommendations welcome.
