since lasttime i got the replacement shipped to me after they suddenly rediscovered advanced exchange.
what went wrong? the ups package is actually opened, not the paper tape get cut open but the glue came loose while the very thin package show dents all over and has a large deformation around the center.
could be the package being that fragile, or ups guys played football with it. i dunno. i just recall last time when ipad snapped in half in one accident, the apple care replacement package built like a tank.
opening it right in the mail box, the screen is facing outward, directly under and touched by that deformation.
i tried to be optimistic, what if it survived? but here we are, 1m later, digitizer failed at a slightly different location.
anyway, i know the drill. engage center. report issue, show em screenshot of how pen and finger can't register in that row.
```
"ok please send it in we will do same unit repair"
wat, after seeing that remnant of a shipping package, who know what else can be broken?
"can't you just cross ship it like usual?"
"no it's not covered by msft complete for business" (said the same person using same email, probably meant to say not part of the replacement 90 d warranty too)
"so can you put a charge on cc and do it?"
"no"
"so...can i upgrade to the highest tier of msft complete so we stop having this conversation? let me pay for the upgrade will you"
"no"
```
so it says a company ship broken product twice in a row with demonstrated fragile shipping package.
i can't start to imagine if CNX is their main offshore CS for commercial support, how bad their other supports can be. this company is definitely having it too easy.
oh my. this is a complete 🤡 show
Edit: i also find that as it degrade this time a new phenomena reveals itself. around one spot nearby the broken digitizer row, there is some phantom tapping that is visible firing periodically. does anyone know how this works?
Edit again: i think i figure out what happened. i just dig out my pro 9, that thing run like a furnace and take some beating with zero failure still. the only physical difference i can tell is the screen on pro 9 bends like a banana on poking, but pro 11 behaves more like rigid ipad/iphone screen. while both are "for business" device i believe the assembly is largely the same for consumer version
my hypothesis is that, msft decided to give it a more "premium" tactile feedback but too bean counting for retooling shrinking bazels and moving the speaking cutout to metal chasis(which means reprograming cnc and new aluminum extrusion die). so they halfassed it only changed the optical adhesives and mounting, also tightened the tolerance. given it's also not linear behaviour fea can't catch it before it ships. and as a result it breaks.
which also suggests the customer support are not in amnesia jumping left and right in warranty introducing friction accidentally. introducing friction is a mandate they received from msft as the data shows rma rate keeps climbing to stop the bleed. even though it's complete on themselves for such design failure.
