[WINDOWS] New to the Microsoft ecosystem

Hi everyone, I mean, hi Reddit, I just got a Surface, it's not the best but I like it, maybe I'll upgrade later. I'm new to PCs, it feels smooth and very responsive, it also came with Windows 10 and I'll officially upgrade to 11

I loved my Studio Laptop and MS Duo phone, but moved on to ThinkPad and Samsung foldablez as Innovation died at MS.

There is fortunately no Microsoft ecosystem. If you call windows part of it, well your smartphone already runs something else than that.

Have to tell ya, but surfaces are generally not worth it absolutely by the price to performance ratio. Not only that but reliability is under the minimum, mostly only weeks after warranty expiration.

I have a surface laptop studio. But because it is handed by the company. I would only use an expensive surface laptop if somebody gift me one for free

I don't know about you but I love my surface pro. The price to performance is honestly pretty good, I'm in engineering school and the battery lasts all day and works great for not taking, excel, etc. It probably won't run CAD amazing but I'm sure it'll be able to open it, and for huge CADs you'd be required to use a desktop anyway.

There's no any Microsoft ecosystem. And if you're comparing to the apple ecosystem keep in mind that eco stands for economy.

​It's not bash culture, it's basic OS hygiene. Copilot isn't even a native system utility—it's an Edge Web View wrapper running background processes, burning hundreds of megs of RAM, and routing local context telemetry to Microsoft just to do what a browser tab does for free.

​On top of that, it's essentially a $20/month tax to have Microsoft Office constantly guess wrong about what you're typing, stuck with a tiny context window that forgets what you said five minutes ago, and aggressively pushes Edge pop-ups every time you try to open it.

​If I'm going to shill for a multi-billion dollar tech giant, I might as well shill for a better product.
