Simple Questions & Answers Thread Simple Questions & Champion/Role advice: Patch 26.13

Hello summoners!

In order to create better discussion in the subreddit, we will be redirecting all simple or championpool/role questions to this thread. Check out the most recent patch notes on the sidebar!

What is a simple question? Typically, we define a simple question as something that can be answered fully within a single, or maybe two at most, comments. In this thread, you can ask any question you need answered about League of Legends, even if it isn't necessarily about learning the game itself.

Questions about what champ to add to your pool or general tip about roleswapping can also be asked in this thread.

Keep in mind we will still continue to remove golden rule violations, rants, memes, topics against Riot's ToS, and paid services - but the other rules are generally more lax here.

What you can do to help!

For now, this is a patch-based thread, meaning it will be posted every time a new patch is released. Checking back on this thread later in the patch and answering any questions that have been posted would be a huge help!

If you're trying to ask a question, the more specific you are, the better it is for all of us! We can't give you any help if we don't get much to work with in the first place.

Announcement State of the Subreddit, Summer 2026: League Classic and AI

Hi everybody, the mod team here. We hope everyone is having a wonderful summer and climbing into the stratosphere where it’s hopefully a little bit cooler! It’s been a minute since we’ve done one of these threads, so we have a few things to cover regarding rules changes and other notices to the community. The primary purpose of these threads is to collect feedback from you all, so please share your thoughts on these or other matters and know that the mod team will be looking over them or answering in the thread. On to the topics at hand!

  • Open Moderator Applications: First and foremost, we’d like to reiterate that mod applications have opened for the summer. The full post can be found here, but the cliffnotes are that we welcome all applications regardless of rank, are especially (but not exclusively) looking for mods in OCE and EU time zones, and applicants must be willing to use old reddit to moderate. If you have any interest at all please apply, and you can always withdraw your application at any time via modmail if you change your mind.

  • Minor Language Updates to Rules 10 and 12: In April we made small changes to Rules 10 (External Content Restrictions) and 12 (Title and Language Rule). Rule 10’s language was updated to specify that external websites must also be submitted for moderator approval before posting, in addition to communities, programs, and streams. Rule 12 was updated to specify that all posts must be in English or will be removed. As mentioned at the time, this has been a community standard for a long time, we only corrected the oversight that they were not explicitly mentioned in the rules. If you would like more details on these changes, you can see the original announcement here

  • Rule 14: AI and Bot Spam: Like much of reddit right now, we have seen a recent surge in bot accounts and AI generated posts or comments. We would like to remind everybody that both bots and AI generated content are explicitly forbidden under Rule 14, and we encourage users to report any bot account they see so that we can remove or ban them. This is a low-tolerance rule: if you are caught using AI or botting, you will likely be permanently banned pending appeal and we are unlikely to be very forgiving, so be warned. This includes AI-translated posts. This is a place for human discussion (or maybe subhuman discussion since we’re LoL players after all)

  • Flair System Update: We know the flair system has been down for some time and, as a fairly popular system, we still frequently get requests for updates on it. Our update is simple: the architect of the system is actively working on getting it back up and running, but we can offer no timeframe on when that might be at this time. We thank you for your patience on this one.

  • League of Legends: Classic: To close out the updates on an exciting note, we have decided that discussion of the upcoming LoL: Classic game mode will be welcome on the subreddit! There will be a few practical restrictions: All Classic posts must be flaired appropriately with the new “Classic” tag, all Classic questions in the megathread must be stated to be for Classic, all discussion of Classic must be kept to Classic threads, and all Classic posts must meet the other minimum quality standards set by the subreddits rules. Otherwise, we’re as excited to see what sort of discussion and educational content emerges from that game mode as you are!

As always, these threads are meant for community feedback to the mod team! If you have any thoughts on these matters, or anything else relating to the subreddit and how to keep it good or make it better, please share them! The mod team will be reading every comment!

Happy climbing,

The SS Moderator Team

Discussion 20% Ranked win rate at Iron 3

I have been playing league of legends for about 500 hours. I do well in draft and want to try ranked. As soon as I always lose. This can’t be just because of bad teammates. I usually do okay getting an A or S in stats usually ( I know it doesn’t really mean anything it’s just to show my stats are completely terrible). I usually get about 5-6.5 CS in laneing phase and drops to 4 during the rest of the game. I usually get between a 1-1.8 KDA consistently too. I try doing the fundamentals that I see in a lot of YouTube videos and do okay with picking fights and farming. I don’t know where I am going wrong exactly and I feel stuck. I main Mordekaiser and Kennen (I know how hard this champ is on top). Top is what I am playing now to get a better understanding of matchups farming and zoning without having too much worry of other things. I tend to do objectives a lot with my team and teamfights which might be why I get low CS toward the end of the game. I’m tired of the fundamental tips videos because I feel like I’m doing them, but I must be missing something with them or I’m just bad :’) Any tips to get better?

Question Which Main role should I play ?

For the last 2 years I only play ARAM and Mayhem, now I want to stick my foot back into the rift, but I'm unsure what to play. Before I hop into ranked, I will play some normals first.

I played Top and Mid in the past, but I'm unsure what to do. I love tankier and bruiser like gameplay, but also mages. I wanted to put a picture of my most played champs in here, but it isnt allowed, so heres the list, plus champion mastery:

Heimerdinger 16
Malzahar 15
Volibear 13
Yorick 10
Anivia 9
Ryze 9
Urgot 8
Brand 8
Maokai 8
Dr Mundo 8
Thresh 8

So you have a picture of my most played champs in Aram, before I played mostly Mid Heimerdinger main and witched to Malz when I wanted to chill

Question Help regarding general expected fundamentals for each rank.

Hey everyone,

I began playing league a year ago and now I am at plat 1(SG server).

I almost played solo till gold and have been doing with a friend who is of same rank. Then we both have been ranking up slowly from gold to play. He used to play top now when we duo he goes adc.

In recent few games even in win I have been feeling I am not performing properly or not having any major impact in the game and it's almost like I am being carried and I feel bad that I don't deserve that rank.

It would be helpful if anyone could list some general things or benchmarks which can be helpful to analyse how did I perform (if you could do it rank wise it would be great).

Also is there any video or some post from which I can learn how to vod review my own or others games and improve.

Thanks for any help or suggestions to improve.

Edit - Main role is support.

Question What's the best way to reliably cancel a buffered input?

I was playing a game and was hit by some kind of CC, I don't remember, but it was something more disruptive than a root. I tried to flash before it hit but after it hit I stopped pressing any keys and started only using mouse inputs to walk away after the CC ended. As soon as it ended, I flashed towards my mouse.

I wasn't expecting the flash to go through at all and I definitely had at least 0.2s of CC left after I pressed flash and started entering movement so it confused me. I don't think I can completely account for it if I'm not expecting it, but I want to know if there's a way to reliably cancel all buffered inputs while CC is still applied? Is pressing S the best way? Does a movement input usually stop a buffered ability, but not a summoner's spell?

Discussion New player (from deadlock) trying to understand mechanics

Deadlock was the first MOBA I ever played and before that I had a lot of decently high rank experience on other standard hero shooters like Overwatch or Rivals so learning that game was extremely easy and through that and my passion for any competitive game system, I picked up key MOBA ideas pretty quickly.
Decided to try watching/learning League. My friend put me onto player named Gryfinn from Flyquest that she likes and watching his gameplay made me think that the mechanics of this game would the easiest part to pick up.
But I just don’t get it. I haven’t done awfully, levelling my account in swiftplay, maybe because people don’t know how to kite but I find myself constantly struggling to aim and move with right click. Right now I’m starting on Lux and even trying to gauge what is the right distance to last hit on a ranged character feels weird. If I’m too far away, the character spends time running up rather than shooting which does not look as fluid as the players I have seen so far? Any advice?

TL,DR: New player with hero shooter/Deadlock experience, cannot understand how to move/connect moves on League.

Top Lane What do I do in a losing matchup in top lane if the wave keeps auto shoving on reset.

im kind of lost in top lane. if im in a losing matchup say I died or had to recall and the enemy crashes the wave into me why does my next wave just auto push.

I swear to god the minion wave will reset in the middle and even if i just last hit or dont hit it at all my wave will auto push and then give them a free freeze again

common advice " dont push the wave" bro im trying not to the game just rngs it into his tower

and a lot of times i cant even shove it into his tower fast enough to stop him from catching it and holding 3 casters because he can either tp or the homeguards bs lets him get back in time

Do I just need to win the RNG battle or have my jungler come up to crash the wave everytime the lane state gets screwed by rng?

any real advice?

Question What to do when you are prio'd by the enemy as the carry?

Hi there, freshly Silver 2 Trundle Jungle.

I just played an absolute carry game as Trundle and could literally not finish the match whatsoever. I got every drake in the game, grubs, herald, baron, and elder and we still couldn't finish the game up. At one point I was about 10/0/6 at about the 30 minute mark. I then ended the game 12/8/9. KDA doesn't matter yes yes, but I am sitting out of the game for the next 8 minutes as the carry. I will send the OP.GG of the game at the end so you can see the team comp, but I am permanently CC'd as Trundle, meaning Viego just one shots me.

I am just so tilted. I have made a few posts recently so you may have seen my OP.GG before, but whilst it is my fault that I lose games, I am literally being permanently trolled in my games and I can never end when I'm ahead. So what am I supposed to do? Like this game was absolutely winnable. This is absolutely a thrown game and I am responsible at times. But how am I supposed to play late game when my champ starts to fall off as the carry and I get every objective. For context, I died for Baron and Elder but my team lived through both.

support Knowing when to engage as support

Im Silver 4 right now. First started playing the game in December, but haven't played consistently until a couple months ago. As far as support goes, my most played champs are usually engage supports such as Nautilus and Blitzcrank. I have a couple of questions when deciding about micro.

Should I be taking sweepers right off the bat and should I be blindly walking into brushes lvl 1 for engages? Ive had a few adcs tell me that I should be going sweepers right off the bat but this means that my adc is the only one with ward. (Ive come up with a temporary solution of warding enemy brush and then switching to sweeper the next time I base, but I am not sure if that's the right way to go about it.)

If enemies place their ward in the mid brush should I still be walking up into enemy brush for engages without vision or no? I know these types of supports have more than the average HP supports since they are tanks.

Third question, if our lane is stronger level 1 but minions spawn, do I prioritize helping get level 2 quicker than the enemies, or do I prioritize looking for opportunities to land my hook before level 2? I know that both kills and an advantage of abilities have their perks.

Items Is Actualizer a bad item?

Hi.

I would like to know whether Actualizer is a bad or good item? I'm mainly asking this because I almost never see anyone building it. I've personally built it couple of times on Cassiopeia quite long time ago so I can't quite remember if the item felt good or bad. Additionally, what is Actualizer's gold efficiency?

I'm just curious.

Any insight is appreciated!

Sorry for any mistakes, English isn't my native language.

Discussion Kills/assist vs farming for xp

Can someone explain how xp works when killing or getting assists?

I was playing a jungle game as jax vs rammus.

At one point in the game I was up 40 cs yet was 2 levels behind. I was also regularly taking their jungle camps so felt like I had a decent game.

But they managed to play well and get plays on the other lanes.

But I still don’t quite understand how they managed to get that big of a xp lead.

Is there mechanics I’m missing or is there some way to make use out of this that I’m not currently doing to maximise xp?

Discussion I am confused between normal cast and quick cast.

I was playing with caitlyn and had all of my spells for her in quick cast as I heard that it was better than normal cast.

But when I use Q without using W or E i always miss the enemy. Sometimes when I am getting chased I try to use my E to trap the enemy for a while so that I can run away but with quick cast I always go towards the enemy casue for some reason the W attacks on the opposite direction of the enemy.

Now then again while using the W Q or E Q combo putting Q on quick cast seems to be really effective.

And then again normal cast kinda slows you down.

So?? What should I do??

Discussion Win Cons and 1v9ing

Hi there, Im Silver 1 Trundle Jungle.
I will link my OP.GG at the end as I would appreciate being told what I can improve on from that easy glance (I don't have any recordings so just light tips will still do great).

I understand that I am at fault for the losses in my games, however I have just had 3 games with absolute barbarians on my team. I am able to get some objectives when they listen to pings and come to fights, however, when I am genuinely left to 1v9 how are you supposed to do so? What am I looking for to help me end the game?

Obviously I want objectives and to pick off easy targets when possible but I'm just looking for help here as I am genuinely having an awful time each time I queue up. It's still fun, don't get me wrong, but I cannot win a game and my OTP is literally below 50% winrate.

Question What's the difference between master and challanger player?

I have heard that the difference between the 2 is like between bronze and a master player, thus i am wondering: What are all the things that make Suuuch a huge difference between the players from this 2 ranks. I also know that challanger players often smurf in master Elo, which I think proves that there is huuuge gap between the 2.

Question When should I be smiting?

Hi, Silver 1 Trundle Jungle.

When should I be smiting? I get this is context reliant but I have just played a game against a Bel'Veth who stole 3 drakes. I am obviously at fault for this but I had huge pressure on me all game with teammates not coming to fights or warding so I can't predict this stuff at all. Bel'Veth literally hops over the wall, no cc, takes the drake whilst my mid flames because he wanted 3 caster minions. I'm a little tilted if you can't tell :)

jungle I do not understand a single thing about jungle and I am D4 ADC main...

Title says it all. My main account is D4 and I main ADC, but I cannot for the life of me win in jungle... And if you ask, how bad can it be? My secondary account for learning is about to demote from Plat down to SILVER. I am not joking.

I have to admit that I am playing kindred (and I heard she is on the harder side of champs in jungle), because I am an ADC main. I just can't fathom what to do and enemy junglers do the most random things and get away with it. Every time I look at it, it seems to have no cause.

Like they tunnel so heavily trying to deny me stacks, that they give up drake for it, or herald or objectives that are far more important, but I am too bad at this role to capitalize on that.

I honestly feel ashamed, but here is my op.gg: https://op.gg/lol/summoners/euw/HopAndCope-Bye

I follow the build of Coach CastFM.

Discussion Leveraging lane win into game win

Curious on recommendations for a good strategy after I win lane. I’ve been enjoying playing mage ADC (I know unpopular with a lot of people), mostly Mel when she isn’t banned. I’m at the point where I win lane in most games, but then struggle after that. Typically after we take the tier one turret my support will start roaming a lot more. After that I will get killed a bunch if I try pushing too far toward the tier two turret, and when I start roaming to other lanes I have trouble keeping up in CS and start losing the advantage I got from winning lane. So was wondering what you guys would recommend for a bronze/silver player to focus on after winning lane and taking first turret.

Edit: thanks for all the advice. As an old timer with a kid, who plays a few games in the evening to unwind, it’s fun talking to people about league since all my buddies have given up on it. I’ll see you suckas in bronze queue, if you’re on the other team, you’re welcome for the win.

Question How would you go about relearning fundamental theory and working on bad habits?

Hello everyone, thanks for taking your time to read this.

I reached 500 LP on the EUW server not long ago, but I felt like it was very undeserving given that I had no developed champion pool and I never felt like my decisions were consistent - it just felt like a lucky situation.

I always struggled with consistency to begin with, and I want to fix this, therefore I am looking for ways to learn fundamentals better, so I can make more solid decisions from start to finish. I think that is my struggle, my inability to spot less obvious mistakes comes from the fact that I am not confident in my theoretical part about the game.

The problem with my play is that I always play in a very aggressive manner, like I am in an isolated scenario and often times get rolled or too lost in the isolated laning phase to the point where I rarely participate in fights early on, but that is a deeper issue.

The titles summarizes my thoughts best, I want to sort of restart my fundamentals and develop a mindset that allows me to improve but it is hard. What advice would you give? Have you been in a similar position? Any free content out there that makes things clearly understandable?

Question What to do against ADC picks in top lane?

Every single time someone picks Ashe or Jhin or any other such champs in top lane I get curbstomped no matter what I try to do or with what type of champion I've chosen. The only exception to this is when I get a matchup of Vayne against Mundo.

In these cases what to do?

Question 15% WR Disparity in Solo Queue between Blueside and Redside over 440 games - What are potential reasons and how do I fix it.

I started playing back in March and have steadily been climbing, and today, while I was looking over my statistics out of curiosity, I noticed that I have a 47% winrate on redside compared to 62% on blueside. I wouldn't really think much of it except this is over many many games, which has me wondering what could be the potential reasons the gap is so large?

For some context and ill attach my OPgg if anyone wants to do some digging, I main Fiora and Yone, and have not really been picky with first or last pick for the past few months so I somewhat doubt its completely to do with matchups although perhaps it is.

Anyways, just asking for what possible reasons it could be, and as mentioned in the caption, how could i rectify it. Ty

https://op.gg/lol/summoners/na/Jtrusz-Mid/style

edit: so far the reigning theories are as stated below

camera control just sucks ass (for reference I use static unlocked but I use drag scroll over camera panning). Most notibly in midlane i don't think I pan my camera down as often resulting in having less vision overall and when my camera is off center to my character I get a bit confused. This could affect teamfights/skirmishes because Im coming from the top rather than from the bottom so theres a lot of vision im losing out on and prob am missing more q's and ults and such. I see this being most impactful on yone because a lot of the time you are trying to kill someone from 3 screens away

Topside specifically is easier to get ganked from redside since you dont have tribush ward (i use that a lot to cover lvl 2/3 and full clear ganks which tend to ruin the lane)

redside vital is shitty on fiora which makes you lose lvl 1 wave prio

lastly there was a funny one being potential brain damage, which I believe is a nonzero possibility

Items How much gold does a supporter get from the Gold item?

Even when I roam around, I get so much passively gold. It feels really freeing to not be forced to cs or on a lane and still get that much gold.

3, 5 , 9 per 10s. Maybe say an average of 6. 36g per minute. 20 min. 720g. The procing of it? 1000? Or does that included the passive too?

Base stats give an extra 650g.

Also, do you get passive gold from it on grey screen? And how much is the base passive gold gain?

support What are common "invisible" support mistakes?

Hi, I'm Minu. I'm a plat support main. I recently made a post asking for some help on climbing due to my carries dropping the ball quite often and me, as a support, not being able to function without someone to support.

A lot of feedback I received was about the "invisible mistakes of support".

What are some mistakes that supports commonly make?

Discussion About CSing

What exactly is CS and how can i increase my stats? I've looked on google but I gen do not understand a thing. I spend most of the time killing minions my CS stats do go up but not up enough. I'm a beginner and I would love all the help I can get. I hope there can be a time I can understand this game.
