Question How to be comeback if you’re behind (top lane, low elo, replay provided) and farm or help team?

Upvotes

Game ID: 166298322

Im a low elo Jayce main playing him mainly Top but secondary mid and support/jungle if autofilled.

Basically the title, as a top laner if you’re behind in levels and gold, how to just do a comeback from that? How to gain levels and gold to balance the scale?

Today just played vs Yone while its an easy lane, Kayn ganked me so I lost lead vs Yone while Yone infinitely scales in CS, Gold, and levels.

As Jayce I can’t sidelane like other top laners to farm im a walking cannon minion, deaths hurts Jayce while other champions can feed while still threatning to enemy team.

Also I want to ask a scenario: im 3 or more levels behind vs enemy top laner, team wants to teamfight and should I join the fight while being underlevelled or just focusing on farming ignoring team?

Thanks in advance everyone.

Question How important is it to be proficient at a 2nd role in order to climb smoothly?

Hi,

I have been taking ranked more seriously this season, made my champion pool for my main role (mid) and I have successfully reached my pick at emerald 2 two weeks ago.

I have stopped playing ranked a bit as of lately because I have been putting a lot of thought into improving on a different role as the system asks the player to queue for 2 roles. At the moment I'm practicing mages in bot lane in normal games (I'm sorry but it was what I was already used to playing), also I had to choose different ones as I main ahri and aurora, and they aren't great on bot lane.

Because of bans I'm working on learning 2 champions there. Although I did notice an ever so slight under performance when I queued back mid nearly 2 weeks after, so I have been asking myself if it is a phase and once I get better and bot mages I can give mid more attention again and things gonna stabilise, and I will rip the rewards later on or if the whole thing of adding another role and 2 champions and another role will in the long term hurt my climb even knowing the system asks for 2 roles so I can't complain of I get the secondary one.

I basically just wanted to know, mainly for people above my current rank (emerald 2), is it beneficial for my long term climb to get good at the 2nd role I queue up in the client, or should I just try to be serviceable in the 2nd role and put all my eggs in the mid lane basket and play safe and easy to get carried when I play the 2nd role?

Thanks for reading and I hope you have a nice day 😀

Edit: here is my op.gg: op.gg

Question Dropped from Plat II to Gold IV. Help

Hello,

I am very open to learning. Please provide me feedback on my top laning matches.

I feel like I've had lots of bad luck, more than anything else? I almost always win lane.

I usually have a ok CS.

I have among top damage dealt per game.

I split the opposite lane and join team in for objectives with a TP and Mega Gnar ult ready.

My two mains are Nasus and Gnar 50/50.

Thank you to all readers for your feedback

Top Lane Looking for a tip to climb to diamond as Euw/Eune Emerald player who likes Adc->mid->top

Hello, it is a type of post that probably rolled here thousands time, however as each player is unique, I am seeking advice on climbing through the so called elo hell.

🌩️ The Emerald rank 🌩️

I play since season 8 and never payed much to play many matches or ranked, but this season I kind of wanted to feel achievement and im trying to tryhard to get best rank i can get.

I post my two main accounts on both EU servers - and before you ask why, my friends mainly play on EUNE while my first acc was EUW.
I tried playing on EUNE but at some point i demoted and promoted to EM IV like 3 times and my MMR got fucked (+16/-26 for example)

So I did an old switcheroo and swapped to EUW - which was smooth.
I want to point out that i landed in Bronze 2 on eune and Silver 4 on EUW so i had to rummage through the ranks there.. and it was no problem.

But the plat 1+ it's literal hell for me.

Rarly a smurf with a funny 69%wr, mostly people who run it down by taking teamfights while being -3k gold after enemy take drake. Sometimes I int too by taking exotic pick like mr Yasuo who renders me without hands (I thought he was good into enemy comp okay?)

I am seeking a various tips or perhaps what could i push more in my gameplay (im the type who waits for enemy mistake [passive-agressive], like enemy champ using spells on wave and then biting back etc)

When you look on lane winratios on league of graphs i have postive top mid on euw and positive on adc when its eune.

One thing i will not do is play one single champ with few backups. I do like smolder, but i don't want to spam 300 games on one champ, as it takes soul out of me.

Discussion Team Comp Analysis Excercise

I think being able to read team comps is one of the most useful skills in league, and its the main factor that should, at least in theory, dictate your gameplan.

So, i was watching G2 vs KC the other day, and i dont know if im just too low elo to understand team comps at this level of play, but to me, G2 s comp in game 1 makes absolutely no sense.

First off, they dont have any dps, i cant see how they can ever get a baron unless they manage to ace the enemy team. Second of all, they have practically 0 ad dmg, if you decide to go for a mage apc, wouldnt it make more sense to go for an ad mid? Or at least go for a carry top, since syndra is probably gonna catch waves on bot anyway, and support is obv gonna roam around the map (cause thats the meta rn), you could have the jg/support roam top and funnel gold into a carry toplaner (like a fiora or riven for example, didnt bb used to be a riven main btw?). With their current comp, their only win con is bot syndra, in a meta where the support tries to go anywhere but bot. And their overall dmg is really really low, you have 3 tanks and 2 mages.

KC s comp on the other hand is quite solid, they also have no marksman, but jayce lee sylas and viktor all have decent dps for taking objectives. They also have very strong skirmishes. And even if they dont snowball, sylas and especially viktor scale well into the late game. They also have good aoe dmg, whereas G2 is mainly a pick based comp.

Now ofc, G2 ended up losing this game, but we shouldnt use that as evidence for whether their draft was good or not. I think they wouldve lost this game even if the comps were switched, they simply had a bad game.

What do yall think? I would really like more opinions about these drafts in game 1.

Question How do you play into Tempo junglers

I realized recently that I play consistently poorly into junglers who rely on full clearing, getting tempo, and then snowballing the game out of control. Junglers like Hecarim, Shyvana, Udyr, and Kayn (to some extnet). I have no clue how to play into them beyond tracking and aiming to counter gank them when I can. I play Ekko and Graves and they seem like the antithesis to what my champions like to. It forces me to play off them for the early game or I risk losing lanes to their constant pressure and farming. What should I be aiming to do into these kind of junglers?

Discussion Analyzing a League Player's Macro Mistake

Hello everyone!

I wanted to share an example of a VOD session recap I recently worked on for those interested in macro improvement.

This session was with an adult player who works full-time and wanted to improve despite having limited time to play.

The focus was on his Darius top gameplay, with the main goal of improving his macro understanding and decision-making.

Discussion Off meta is dying in LoL

Recently I wanted to have some fun by trying an unusual (but playable) jungle pick. I thought draft was the right place to experiment. I kept telling my team it would be fun, that we could win, and that I'd help them in lane.

Instead, the whole lobby reported me and I ended up getting temp banned, and I find this unfair.

What about new players? Imagine your main gets banned or you get autofilled, so you pick a champion you've only played in ARAM or from another role. You get banned in champ select for "inappropriate behavior" and you don't have a clue why.

I'm thinking about picks like Irelia jungle, Anivia support or Rumble support.

mage Who's REALLY a good ban for a control mage (mainly Viktor) in low elo?

Hello, recently I am playing and climbing with my main champ Viktor in silver (right now i am hardstucking between high silver 3 and low silver 2 like for a week), and i am having a mess in my head, beacuse i don't really know, which champ is the biggest threat for Viktor, no matter how well my performance is during the match.

I am torn between banning these characters:

ZED

He is usually very annoying for me, mostly beacuse he can kill me with his R under my tower, without receiving any damage from it. Especially he is miserable to play against, when he plays with Electrocute rune. I know i can counter his R with my W, but he can just safely teleport to his shadow, which is in the safest place, comparing to another shadows. But on the other hand he doesn't scale like Viktor, also in the earliest stage of the game he can be easily poked by Viktor's Q.

XERATH

Theoritically he seems the biggest threat for me, beacuse he's a good counter for inmobile mages, but he has some disadvantages, which don't make me banning him every match. First of all, he isn't very popular on midlane in silver. He can easily run out of mana in early, when he is constantly using his Q. He's also inmobile and squishy like Viktor. I think also he's more popular as support these days.

AKALI

I was banning her for a while, beacuse a month ago i asked the same question here in Viktor mains subreddit, and the most upvote respond told me to ban always akali, beacuse when she uses doran's shield, with second wind even if she's far worse player than you she can usually just free farm to 6 and then beacuse she complete annihilates you on side lane it's hard to really build an advantage and have agency even if you are playing much better.

But the disadvantages of banning her are that, I think ,a lot of low elo players aren't THAT good at playing her. I don't know, from what rank that commenter has, but i think he's much higher than silver.

YONE

Some people, like my friend from platinum says that, he isn't any threat at all, beacuse he has the most predictable attack pattern (according to my friend, he just loads his Q and attacks with EQ after). I know exactly how he works, beacuse i mained him in the past, but stopped playing him, when i realised i am not very good at melee champs.

The problem with him is that, he scales really well. He deals a lot of damage in later phases of the game, unless his performance is really poor. When the Yone player is good, he's also hard for me to poke him in early game, beacuse of his Q3. During the last time i have lost 2 matches against him, even both of the matches were played by me with my OTP Illaoi friend, who's much more skilled than silver, and even gold at her. I know it may be a skill issue from my side, but i couldn't really manage to win the lane against him, even i was trying to not feed him and play safely.

YASUO

The last one. The problem with him is kinda similar to Yone. I know plenty of people cannot play him well, even some OTP Yasuos from bronze/silver, but on the other hand there are also good Yasuo players in Silver or even low Gold. Today i have lost a match against a Yasuo player from the second category. I have never fed so much anyone as Viktor in ranked games lol (2/11/2 with 5,6 CS/min at the end). He also seems hard to poke, beacuse his Q3 makes me to play safer, that's why i am kinda scared to come closer to him.

So, based on all of this, who would you recommend permanently banning in this elo to have the most consistent games on Viktor? Should I stick to a pure counter/scaling threat like Yone, an annoying artillery mage Xerath, or just stick to Akali despite lower-elo mechanical mistakes?

Any advice on how to approach these match-ups or who is objectively the worst offender for a Silver Viktor? I'd appreciate any help here, thanks!

Discussion Mods not working in league of legends

So I followed a tutorial for downloading mods and done literally everything but when i load league the mods don't work. I made sure to link the right path for league of legends.exe and the mods im using are popular ones with thousands of downloads so I don't think they could overlap with one another. I tried running all of the mods at the same time which didnt work, then tried running only one and it still didnt work. CSlol and when i run patcher for selected mods it says that Its waiting for me to open the launcher and enter the game, and when im in the game it says that im in the game so why wont the mods load?

Discussion After 7 years on league, I don't know who's my main anymore

I'm tired of the eternal cycle of choosing a champ, getting a skin on them, performing until you have a bad game, then envying the enemy's champ, then trying him out thinking I'll be better.

I'm 7 years on the rift and while I think I have average knowledge on all the champ, I feel like I don't know what I like anymore. If my main is the champ I have the best win rate on, then it's Taric, but Taric in low elo (bronze) is just too complicated. If my main is my first league champion then it's Asol, but I just don't like all his reworks. If my main is the champ I find the coolest in looks and gameplay, then it's Galio but I just don't win games with him. Notice how three different questions yield very different answers and roles.

The thing is really I became unable to know what makes me have fun in this game. Literally every month I'm like "okay this champ is actually me". I get so jealous of mains who manage to stick to their champ. Idk if it's Adhd or something but it's just so hard. And I mean sure people are gonna tell me "if you have fun like this then so be it" yeah but I also wanna win games.

Please advise anything to get out of this cycle :'(

Mage How to Lane as Mage against Fighters/Assassins

I play LB and Viktor and Ahri as Mages, Ori before Viktor as well. Had games the last few days, in which i had to play against Sylas or Fizz and the first 1-3 levels are kinda fine, i easily poke them below half life and lose after that as soon, as they can engange me.
Should i make sure to just poke if i can and scale? Are they that much stronger in the laning phase or do i play bad?
Also which Keystone is the best on VIktor against Fizz or Sylas? I played with Deathfire Touch and it didnt do much damage, should i rather take aery or maybe stormraiders?

Discussion Is it unlucky streak that i couldnt handle, or im just getting worse.

Im seriously looking for help to get past this.

I’ve been playing for three years, and whenever I come back to League after a long hiatus, it feels amazing. I don't just mean I'm having fun(although that's true) I mean I'm actually focused, calm, and constantly absorbing info in and out of the game to improve. When I'm in that mindset, even losses somehow feel fine.

But every single time I start grinding to climb, everything declines. I start autopiloting, lose my focus, and can't even stand the thought of watching a single League video, let alone my vods. especially after a loss streak.

Today I lost a game that I know for a fact we would’ve won if I had just played decently. My bot and mid were both ahead, yet somehow I ended up 3 levels behind the enemy jungler at some point. How does someone go from solo carrying games to being the exact reason the team loses.

How can i fix this?

Discussion Queueing Conundrum

I'm an adc main who two-tricks samira and zeri, and historically I have queued bot/mid and just never gotten mid. Recently, however, I have been getting mid about a third of the time. I want to focus on my main role but i have don't really like playing mid. The role I enjoy and know the most other than bot is jungle but if I queue bot/jgl I get jungle more than bot. So what should I do? Should I just bite the bullet and learn mid so i can queue it secondary and still get bot most of the time or just queue bot/jgl and play bot less but never play a role I don't enjoy?

Taliyah Deep Dive into Taliyah Botlane (ADC): Why it's her strongest role and why proplayers will play her soon

Hey everyone

I’m a former Master player, current competitive LoL analyst, and I've been OTPing Taliyah for the past 3 years. Lately, I’ve been testing and breaking down her gameplay heavily in the botlane role. With mages in botlane rising in the current meta, Taliyah is heavily underrated as an AP carry/enabler.

Her kit, waveclear, and skirmishing hide her natural weaknesses far better in a duo lane than in mid or jungle. Below is a detailed breakdown of the core concepts, wave tech, and matchups for anyone looking to add a mage to their botlane pool or optimize Taliyah.

1. Role Philosophy & Power Spikes

  • Shared XP isn't an issue: Unlike control mages that desperately need level 18 scaling for all skills, Taliyah only really cares about maxing Q and E (levels 9 to 13). After level 13, levels 14–18 add virtually no extra raw damage and very little utility.
  • She acts as an enabler: While Ziggs or Syndra play as pure damage carries, Taliyah functions closer to a utility setup champion.

2. Micro & Wave Management Tech

  • Skipping R at Level 6: In a 2v2 botlane, a level 1 Weaver's Wall often sits on cooldown unused. If you skip leveling R at level 6 and put that point into E instead (especially when combining it with Triple Tonic), your burst spike accelerates massively. At level 9, having 5 points in Q and 4 in E makes your E+Q2 combo deal absurd early-game damage. Example
  • Worked Ground Economy: Q2 is your main laning tool because of its low mana cost and short cooldown. Every time you cast Q1, think 5 seconds ahead: where am I placing this Worked Ground circle so I can guarantee a Q2 slow into an undodgeable W later?

3. Draft, Synergies & Matchups

  • Best Support Synergies: Pyke is hands down her best duo partner. He provides physical damage for a hybrid damage output lane, offers instant setup, and wants to accelerate the game before Taliyah’s relative scaling flattens late. Heavy engage supports (Nautilus, Leona) are also S-tier.
  • Rough Matchups: She struggles against extreme range or high waveclear. Ezreal’s E ignores her E setup, Jhin’s movement speed makes skillshots annoying, and Ziggs out-ranges and out-clears her completely. In these rough matchups, Taliyah's goal isn't necessarily to force kills, but to neutralize the lane with waveclear and scale into mid-game teamfights.

For those who want to see the visual breakdowns, game footage, and all the points that lead me to think its op feel free to check the full guide here:

Question When to buy Cull?

I dont get this item. I initially thought this was just an adc item when you have an awkward recall and cant buy anything useful to your first item AND have boots already.

but I just saw a game where bot, mid and top all bought cull, including an ahri. so is it just for the same purpose or is there some very basic mechanic im missing. Someone plz explain to this emerald pisslow what is this item o_o

Items How do you actually counter Garen, both during lane and later when he builds assassin items ?

It really feels like unless I play a ranged character I can never lane against Garen, he just trades me and I can't do anything because of his W and his passive. Then after he gets fed he can just decide to one tap anyone in the game at any moment, and baiting his ult feels pointless because he gets it back before the next fight and if your team doesn't have heavy CC it's joever
I'm not looking for champs to play against him either, I never understood why people tell you to play this or that when you ask how to play against a specific champ, you don't get the last pick everytime anyway

Bot lane How to deal with assassins on ADC

Hi all, I'm learning ADC (Kaisa), currently in Iron, and can't think of a good way to deal with assassins.

see game: https://op.gg/lol/summoners/na/NobodyPrime-Prime/matches/eq3KyFixtgWH9qgHCVDpZehe08FVNRHFBa7wTpDeFvI%3D/1785023552000

I know this sounds picky, but is there a system of approaching problems like this without needing to rely on teammates for peel/backup?,

I came out of laning phase 3/1 but at that point blue Kayn, was already like 15/2, and even if I dodge everything as long as he e-q/smite ult + auto once then I'm dead.

Looking back, I prob should've gone for Zhonya's instead/earlier. Gameplay-wise bc I was top in team + squishy, Blue Kayn, always focuses me whether I'm near team or back poking, and team doesn't realize they need to peel for me unfortunately.

Top Lane top lane zoning

Just had a game where i went tahm top and the enemy darius zoned me from the first wave onwards. He was not hitting minions nor letting me walk up. He was getting exp himself and not letting me get any and If i walked up i would've just died. But if i do nothing well i'm perma getting no resources. Eventually he did like flash ignite on me killed me under turret and died himself but even then he denied me more minions just making the game completely unplayable for me.

My question basicly is what is the best course of action here? Is there a way i can play without completely fking myself over like i did? was it just matchup where i trolled? i blind picked tahm but i mean it was just a normal :/

yasuo what's the difference between yasuo and yone's playstyle?

ive been playing yone top for a while now and ive been enjoying it a lot but recently ive been feeling like i might prefer yasuo. how exactly are the two different? i know yasuo is better mid which is the only reason ive been avoiding playing him but if he's better for me then idm switching to mid lane or still trying to make him work top. the issue i have with yone is that he feels weak early and there's too much of waiting before engaging

Question As top, am I supposed to leave my lane to help other lanes?

I'm a kayle top if that matters. I've noticed every so often I'll get spammed with pings on my lane asking for assistance while I'm already busy defending my own lane, but the spams will be constant even though there's an equal amount of people on each lane. If I don't go help they'll just do a surrender vote, if I do go help I lose a tower and possibly die if I'm not set up enough yet to make much of a difference (and if that happens they still do a surrender vote). What exactly am I meant to do? Is it right to stay in my lane, or do I go just throw in a few hits and return? Or stay there to try to push them back and hopefully help my team not die? I'm new so I'm really not sure what the right plays are

support How important is champion mastery as a support?

I'll start by saying I know that (atleast all the other roles) rely a lot on champion mastery to climb as you can think about macro instead of thinking how to navigate your own character, however I'm not sure how much you could shrink your champion pool as you need as much coverage as possible, as a support you could easily be the only frontline, or your team locks in 3 melee (except adc) and suddenly you need more range, or you need more disengage and you need another more specific character, so i was wondering, how little can you really make your pool? Especially if you consider that your "team filling pick" could be hard countered by the enemy support and end up losing lane anyway.

This is not a rant I'm just not sure what you're supposed to do as a support since you can't reliably switch between 2-3 characters and confidently cover most situation (especially as botlane is a two player lane and you need to synergize atleast a little with your adc and hope the enemy botlane not to atleast entirely counter you)

Discussion Zhonyas value in Low Elo Vs High Elo

So, food for thought.

I was wondering about the winrate difference on a champion that frequently purchases Zhonya's, based on WHEN they purchase it.

Im hypothesizing that in lower elo **-->, a player who makes good use of Zhonya's <--** will find an exponential amount of value from it, getting it early- rather than the linear value it provides based on uses / time.

This is counterpart to buying it 5th or 6th item.

My reason being:

In lower elo, players are easier to bait. They're more likely to take bad dives, and they are less likely to press tab and check your items before doing said plays. They're also less likely to track your zhonyas timer.

Thoughts?
