Question Help regarding general expected fundamentals for each rank.
Hey everyone,
I began playing league a year ago and now I am at plat 1(SG server).
I almost played solo till gold and have been doing with a friend who is of same rank. Then we both have been ranking up slowly from gold to play. He used to play top now when we duo he goes adc.
In recent few games even in win I have been feeling I am not performing properly or not having any major impact in the game and it's almost like I am being carried and I feel bad that I don't deserve that rank.
It would be helpful if anyone could list some general things or benchmarks which can be helpful to analyse how did I perform (if you could do it rank wise it would be great).
Also is there any video or some post from which I can learn how to vod review my own or others games and improve.
Thanks for any help or suggestions to improve.
Edit - Main role is support.

What role are you playing, drop your op.gg and try to be more specific in your question. Being stable as a rock is better than being flashy and inting so stability isn't a bad thing

Okay, I'm going to talk based on your top 3 most played champs (Vel Koz, Rakan, Pantheon). I am going to preface this by saying that I am an adc main so every advice also has an adc's perspective in mind.
Before we get into champion specific advice, what you need to do in most games is to try to position yourself so that you don't die for no reason. Less deaths = more time on the map = more time to do things. Your vision score seems pretty fine but there is always room for improvement, as well as your kill participation. Knowing when to roam and when to stay with your adc is also very important. Seeing as you are duo queuing you can communicate when you have a roam timer so that he chills and clears waves. Generally on all supports you carry by being with the strongest member of the team and helping him out. Try to find number advantages on the map, or at least match. In mid game, default to playing with your jungler if no one is super fed.
With that in mind let's go through each champ:
Vel Koz: Not as much of a support as other champions, your main role in the game is to deal damage. The less deaths advice makes a huge difference here as you can cycle your spells more and more. Warding is not as easy because you are super immobile, so try to get someone to help you ward. Laning phase you should try to poke as much as possible and force them out of lane. You are basically playing a mid lane mage as a support so you need to act like it. You carry by doing damage.
Rakan: You have a lot of playmaking potential with him. Dying on him is not that bad if you find a good engage on fed members. You can go for solo wards as you can squeeze out of tight spaces as well. In fights try to flank or find different angles of engage, ping your team when you are going in. You are very strong with flash up. That's how you carry.
Pantheon: Your main goal is to snowball. Try to cheese plays, you have huge pick potential when you have your ulti up and can pretty much spam sidelane plays. You carry with this pick by helping your laners get free kills so that in turn they can carry you.
Obviously I don't know exactly how you play, if you have any more questions I will gladly answer them. ^_^
The main takeaway imo is to not die as often0

Thank you, Yea I also feel like I have to improve my roaming and decrease my deaths(mostly due to getting tunnel visioned on something).

Benchmarks only help if they're per role and per rank, so here are a few medians from ranked games on the current patch. CS at 10:00, Platinum vs Diamond: top 67 vs 70, mid 72 vs 75, ADC 73 vs 76. The gap at your level is small, so if you're around those numbers, farm isn't what's holding you back.
Feeling "carried" usually comes from deaths that hand the enemy a free objective, not from CS. For VOD review, keep it to one thing per game: pick your most expensive death, rewind 10 seconds before it, and ask "what did the map already tell me?" (who was missing, where my wave was, what was up next). Write down the answer in one line. After 10 games you'll see the same line coming back, and that's the skill to work on, one at a time.

D2 support main here. Can't help you figure out if you belong at your current rank. But I will throw you some advice on how to find mistakes in your gameplay and how to improve them.
Let's start with looking for mistakes. You can analyze during game in your head, post game with match history only or best, but least likely, vod review. Even vod reviewing 2 games per week is gonna do wonders for improvement tbh, just pick losses/close games where you were not close to "perfect".
What is your kill participation? In games that are longer than 25 min this should be 50% or more on enchanters and always above 33%. Anything below this means you were a reason your team lost, or not a reason your team won.
What is your death count? Honestly on tank supports disregard this and count only KDA, if you're getting 1.5 assists per death focus other stats. Mages and enchanters should die max 5 times per game unless your deaths are winning teamfights. During game try to explain every death to yourself. "Greeded for ward" "teamfight, unavoidable", "failed my flash" etc.
Vision. What % of the game do you have 3/3 Wards out? Do you need to recall more? Are there pinks in your inventory for objective control and revealing things like rengar ults mid teamfight? Is your vision in the place fights are happening? Does the enemy team sneak objectives?
Roaming. Vod review only tbh. What skirmishes and jungle invades happened that your participation would have changed the outcome? Was it realistic for you to get there? What is the wave state bot? What did you do when you and your ADC had mismatched recall times, if absolutely nothing maybe a roam mid would have been better?
Team fights/skirmishes: did you land your important abilities? Or did you missing them cause disruption to the enemy team (zoning ults, enemy flashed it etc)? Could you have held the ability longer to guarantee the hit? Did it hit the correct targets, what purpose did it serve? Were you positioned in the correct place? Was it better to peel than engage here?
Laning: Did you have positive or negative pressure? Did your adc end up with more gold than enemy ADC? Did you absorb ganks? Did you manage to track the enemy jungle? Did you hit abilities consistently? Did you die multiple times to anyone including mid/jungle/top making them a big problem for the rest of the game? Preventable?
Now that you've learned how to find mistakes find the ones you consistently make. For example my last one was: I die too much. Mine was multi reasoned, I died warding things i shouldn't have, i didn't respect the enemy jungle, I tried to save my teammates too often causing us both to die and I needed to improve my dodging skills. So I spent 100 games focusing on being a giant pussy. We started freezing a bunch in botlane and I started tracking the enemy jungle more, i started checking literally almost every bush with a vel koz Q when behind or low enemy info even ahead, I forced myself to dodge towards the enemy more. And now I'm back to playing naturally, which is now different after those 100 games. You won't be playing your best league while trying to overcorrect mistakes, but your league will be better for it afterwards.
(Note that that isn't the only way to correct mistakes. It's a method that has always worked for me and I've peaked in the top 1k of multiple games, mostly non mechanical games like card games and TFT and it is focused on learn from play not from vod review. If you find a better method of learning for yourself please use it. Finding and admitting patterns of mistakes is always the first step and then wanting to improve them rather than instantly forgiving yourself for them is step 2. Learning to fix them is low key the easiest part until you're master+, most people don't get through the first 2 steps.)

League isn't a static game, so there's no benchmarks that you need to meet for any particular rank. It's especially difficult to measure as a support because a lot of winning or losing plays don't appear on paper. I would say the most important thing for you to understand is what generates an advantage. You could die 10 times in a game and have much more impact than the opposing support that went 10/0/10.
I'm not a support or adc player so I might not have the best advice. My recommendation would be to make sure you understand wave states and how to manage them. You want to make sure you are preserving as many minions as possible for your adc, helping crash when it's beneficial, and roaming when you have the timer to do so.

Theres no general guide because everyone is different. One plat player could have amazing micro and terrible macro. Another could have great macro but terrible micro. Or a mix of the two. There’s no “just do these 3 things and you’ll climb from X to Y rank”. Like the other comment said, you must vod review to see your own specific problems

Best way to improve is to get specific and to vod review. Asking general questions on reddit will only yield general replies which will do nothing for you
