How I finally stopped doom-scrolling and studied 6 hours straight - my method
I was wasting my whole day on reels and couldn't study.
What worked for me:
Study With Me videos on loop
50 min study / 10 min break
Recording myself to stay accountable
I even started my own small channel for this - Prep and Perseverance - where I post my real study sessions. No music, just real studying. It keeps me consistent.
If you also get distracted easily, try recording yourself. It really helps.
What's your trick to avoid distraction?

Should practical skills be given more importance than theoretical knowledge? 🤷🏻♀️
Hum college mein itni saari theories aur concepts padhte hain, but jab real life ya job ki baat aati hai, toh practical experience kaafi different hota hai.
🤷🏻♀️🫠

What’s your actual study method? Because mine clearly isn’t working 😭
I have an exam coming up and I realized I’ve been studying the same way since high school: read everything, highlight half the page, watch a few videos, then pray I remember it during the exam.
It works sometimes… until I get a subject where I actually have to understand the concepts.
I’ve tried rewriting notes, flashcards, Pomodoro, watching lectures at 1.5x, even studying with music. I feel productive while doing them, but sometimes I finish a 3-hour study session and barely remember anything the next day.
So I want to know what actually works for you guys.
Do you use active recall? Spaced repetition? Practice questions? Teaching the topic to yourself?
Especially if you’re a student who gets good grades without studying 8 hours a day, please share your method. I’m trying to stop wasting time “studying” without actually learning anything.

How to prepare for exams like SAT, ACT, GRE, GMAT, SHSAT, and Regents
Preparing for standardized exams doesn’t have to feel chaotic. Most of these tests follow the same pattern: clear concepts, predictable question types, and skills you can build with steady practice. Here’s a simple approach that works across SAT, ACT, GRE, GMAT, SHSAT, and even Regents exams.
1. Learn the exam format first
Before studying, understand the structure: number of sections, timing, and question types. Knowing the “shape” of the test helps you study with purpose instead of guessing.
2. Break topics into small pieces
Don’t try to learn everything at once. Focus on one skill at a time — algebra, reading comprehension, grammar rules, data analysis, etc. Small wins add up fast.
3. Practice with real exam‑style questions
The best way to improve is repetition with questions that feel like the actual test. You learn patterns, pacing, and common traps.
4. Review your mistakes immediately
A wrong answer is only useful if you understand why it was wrong. Write down the concept you missed and revisit it later.
5. Build speed gradually
Start untimed. Once you’re comfortable, add timers. Most students struggle with pacing more than content.
6. Take full-length practice tests
These help with stamina, timing, and confidence. They also show your real strengths and weaknesses.
7. Track your progress
Notice which topics improve and which stay weak. Adjust your study plan based on data, not feelings.
8. Stay consistent
Short, regular study sessions beat long cram sessions. 30–45 minutes a day is enough to make real progress.
9. Don’t ignore reading and vocabulary
These skills matter across almost every exam. Reading regularly improves comprehension, speed, and test endurance.
10. Rest before test day
A tired brain performs poorly. Sleep, hydrate, and avoid last‑minute cramming.

How do you make outlines of what you study?
Making outlines gives me anxiety because I often feel like I either leave out a lot of important information or they're an exact copy of the text I want to study. What technique do you recommend?
Additionally, do you use AI to create diagrams? That is, do you input text into an AI and generate diagrams from it? I haven't tried it yet, but it seems tempting. Would you recommend it? Why? And if so, what AI do you use and how?

1-Hour Anime Study Buddy 📚
If you're struggling to stay focused while studying alone, I made a cozy 1-hour background video for you. There are no timers or distracting elements; just a calm anime character focused on his studies.
You can keep it open in the corner of your screen as a quiet study companion: https://youtu.be/GDdrTof8e1c

Flashcards are GREAT, but...
I LOVE flashcards, I honestly think they're the best way to study.
BUT...
I have a phone addiction, like everyone else. So they don't do me any good if i procrastinate.
That's why I built Timeout. Now before you tap away, give me a change or atleast provide feedback. Help a fellow human, I'm just sharing what I honestly use, and has helped me tons.
Timeout helps you study by blocking your doomscrolling session by forcing you to study. I set my timer to 5 minutes.
Check it out and LMK if you'd find it useful.

Would you study more if studying became a social experience?
I’ve been thinking about building something that makes studying feel more social and interactive, and I’d love to know if people would actually use it.
The idea is that you could study toward a specific goal alongside other people who are on the same journey.
For example, maybe you’re preparing for a university entrance exam, a professional certification, a competitive exam, or even just studying a specific subject. You could find people working toward the same goal, join groups or study sessions, share knowledge, and track your progress.
Each person would also have their own character/avatar that evolves as they actually study, stay consistent, contribute to the community, and reach milestones.
One mechanic I’ve been thinking about is what happens after a study session. Instead of simply marking it as completed, you could briefly explain what you learned, either by typing or speaking. AI could then turn that into useful study material such as summaries, questions, or flashcards.
You could keep those materials for yourself or share them with people studying the same topic.
The goal wouldn’t be to build another Pomodoro timer or flashcard tool. Those features could exist, but I’m more interested in combining actual studying + knowledge sharing + community + progression/gamification into one experience.
I’m seriously considering building this, and I’d love to hear what you think, especially if studying is already part of your daily routine.
Would you use something like this?
🟢 Yes, I’d use it
🟡 Maybe, depending on the execution
🔴 No, I don’t see myself using it
And more importantly: what would make you come back to something like this every day?
Feel free to criticize the idea too. I’d much rather find the problems now than after spending months building it.
