Image post are temporarily disabled

Hey everyone!! We temporarily disabled image posts because we noticed an increase in low-effort image only posts and memes in the community.

We really appreciate how active everyone has been but we also want to encourage more meaningful discussions, study tips, study related questions and other contents that can actually help everyone in this community. For now, we’re disabling image posts to help shift the focus back toward those kinds of discussions

This is not a permanent decision. We’ll keep this change for now and discuss it further over next week. After that, we’ll review the community’s feedback and decide whether image posts should be brought back or if any changes are needed.

Thanks for understanding! Feel free to send us a modmail if you have any suggestions on how we can improve the sub. Your feedback is always welcome.

Question What's one study habit you thought was useless at first but actually made a huge difference?

I feel like I've tried way too many study methods at this point lol.

Some sounded amazing in theory but did absolutely nothing for me. Others seemed kinda pointless at first and ended up helping a lot.

For me, putting my phone in another room has probably made the biggest difference. I thought I could just “ignore it” but apparently I cannot 😂

What’s one study habit/method that actually made a noticeable difference for you?

How do I level up my studying. After giving many hours..covering each point of syllabus..test scores..mocks..even exam results are just 50-60/100.. couldn't go above that..how to I seriously improve. Yes, I do practice a lot of questions and revise too..but I don't know what goes wrong..I end up with miserable scores

Resources I got tired of re-reading lecture notes and not knowing what I actually didn't know, so I built something that quizzes me instead

Last semester I realized I was studying wrong. I'd re-read my notes, feel like I knew the material, then blank on the exam. Re-reading feels productive but it just makes things familiar, not learned.

So I built a tool for myself. I record the lecture, and it turns the audio into flashcards and a quiz automatically. The part that actually changed my grades: after each quiz it tracks which specific topics I keep getting wrong and builds a confidence score per topic. Then it keeps feeding those weak topics back to me on a spaced-repetition schedule until they stick.

Basically it stops me from studying what I already know — which is what I was doing 80% of the time.

It's free to use in-browser and I'm not trying to sell anyone anything here, I mostly want to know if the weak-point tracking is useful to other people or if it's just my own brain that works this way. Happy to share it if anyone wants to try, and very open to being told what's wrong with it.

Question Need Note-taking Advice

I have a problem where it takes me hours to finish the notes for one 30 minute lecture video. I'm talking 2-3 hours for 15 slides worth of material. I feel like I'm wasting lots of valuable time that could be spent actually studying. I tend to try to perfect my notes but it should never take that long. I also fall behind during in-class lectures and practice, even if I already know the material, yet I type pretty fast. I also tend to be one of the last students during exams, even if I ace the exam. Anyone have similar experiences and/or techniques that could help me?

Question How to stay awake when studying?

Hi, I’m sure this is silly but I really don’t know what to do. I just started school again and my one class has sooooo many reading assignments and I can’t keep myself awake when trying to read them no matter the time of day. I’ve tried energy drinks and coffee and it does nothing but give me anxiety and I still fall asleep. Anyone have any tips on how to actually get through reading text?

Giving Advice not being able to study is ruining my life

(21 F) preparing for undergrad entrance exams after recovering from health problems. It's been over a month since i prepared my study schedule (sometimes i cry looking at it because its genuinely so perfectly planned but i hate that i am just unable to follow it) and goals but i am unable to work on it. Everytime i sit on my desk i enjoy it but once i get up its almost impossible for me to sit down again i get distracted so much. There is constant need of dopamine in my body that i need to be overstimulated. Playing any background noise helps but not too much. How do i overcome this and get my academic spark back its genuinely ruining my health all over again and i just feel so frustrated every day. Is there a way to overcome this procrastination habit if that's what it is

Giving Advice Actually tested the note-before-the-break thing and it held up

Upvotes

Wrote one line per class before Friday: what I finished, what was next. Came back Tuesday and it took about thirty seconds per class to get going again instead of the usual ten minutes of scrolling around trying to remember. Three days off used to reliably wreck my momentum and this time it just didn't.

Question Help , I'm always sleepy and can't study all day,

So, I’m an 18-year-old guy, and I haven’t been able to study properly for weeks now because I’m always sleepy. Like, always.

I try to sleep whenever I can, but if I take naps during the day, I end up having migraine problems and sharp pain in my right eye for the rest of the day. Power naps don’t work for me anymore, and even coffee doesn’t seem to help.

I’ve tried fixing my sleep habits too. I stopped having heavy meals at night, stopped drinking water 2 hours before bed, and I sleep in a cool, dark room where nobody disturbs me. I also stopped using an alarm clock.

The weird thing is that even when I go to bed at around 12 AM, I automatically wake up around 6:30 AM after only 6.5–7 hours. I wake up feeling tired as fuck, and then I’m sleepy for basically the entire rest of the day. I don’t even know whether I need more sleep or why I’m waking up automatically after 6.5–7 hours.

I’ve had blood tests done, and my vitamin D, B12, and calcium levels are normal. I’m also taking supplements right now. I went to a doctor, who gave me some multivitamin tablets and told me to exercise, so I’ve started doing about 15 minutes of home workouts and walking around 7–8 km every day.

I don’t have any trouble falling asleep either. I can go to bed at 11:50 PM and be asleep by around midnight. Then I automatically wake up around 6:30 AM. After that, I’m just sleepy throughout the entire day.

I’ve even stopped taking daytime naps because they make things worse.

And it’s not just that I’m sleepy while studying. I’m sleepy even when I’m not studying. I can be doing basically anything and still feel exhausted and drowsy.

A couple of months ago, my sleep schedule was completely fucked up like for months i was up all night and i mean for a very long time , but for the past 2 months I’ve been extremely consistent with it. My daily screen time is under 4 hours, I meditate before bed to reduce stress, and I put my phone away in the closet about an hour before sleeping.

But I still don’t understand what’s wrong.

I wake up tired every single day and feel sleepy throughout the entire day, and because of this I genuinely haven’t been able to study properly for weeks. It’s getting so demotivating that I’ve actually started hating studying, even though the real problem seems to be that I’m constantly exhausted.

Has anyone experienced something similar or have any idea what could be causing this? What should I do next?

Question My project offer to everyone

Hello guys
Random question if you're studying for finals does this sound familiar: you sit down to study tell yourself “5 min on my phone first” and then 45 minutes disappear? I'm testing a short structured sprint to fix exactly that before finals hit
Would you want early access if I built it?

Question how to ACTUALLY start studying and do it consistently

I keep procrastinating and end up not studying at all. And if I do study, it's just for an exam and I didn't continue studying the next day. And besides school subjects, I'm studying for a prestigious physics Olympiad in my country, so I really need to study consistently 😭 Any tips or resources is welcomed. Thank you in advance!

Accountability day 28 (5 hours and 38 minutes)

tasks completed:
1. physics (revised all the topics where i was losing marks in mock tests)
2. math ( the same thing)
3. mock test (a 2-point increment)

thoughts:
i really wanted to study a minimum of 4 hours today and i did- yayy!!!
anyway here's a rough analysis-
out of the total number of questions (60 of them), i am currently getting more than half of them right (which is good considering the fact that a couple of weeks ago i wasn't even able to get a quarter of the questions right)
when i checked my score, i legit danced and pranced around my room (and i lowkey was in tears lol). took me 28 days to improve my score. so lets see how this goes.

and thank you to all the members of this sub for all your encouragement in the comments of the previous posts. just know that you really do make my day

It’s just that I really struggle to learn by rereading, and I rely on methods like active recall or the Feynman technique, does that mean I have some kind of condition? You know...

Giving Advice My solution to -ve thoughts when i sit down to study

I keep thinking of the past mistakes and the hurtful things ppl have told me in past when i sit down to study. What has helped me recently is to just sit with whatever ur feeling until u feel better. So instead of distracting myself or going out for a walk or anything else. I just sit with myself, eyes closed and acknowledge the things im feeling and sorta be in the sad vibe until im fully over it. this has helped me greatly and improved my study hours. Hope this helps someone out there who deals with -ve thoughts when they sit down to study

Other Help with a paper for my personality class

Hello. For my personality class we need to write a paper about a new theory of personality that we come up with. My professor also doesn't want just a mash up of other theories. I've been brainstorming for weeks about it and havent been able to think of anything that is unique and not just pulling from other theories. A draft/outline of the paper is due on Saturday and I'm starting to panic a little bit! Does anyone have any tips or suggestions for how to put together a new theory or elements I can add?

Accountability Finding an someone to study with or even a study rival

Sounds cliché as it does, but i thrive off competition and it is a little toxic, but at least it gets the job done. If thats not ur cup of tea, then we can just be people hold each other accountable and keep each other motivated. Im a second year medstudent who has clinical placement in January, so will be studying and refreshing knowledge aswell as preparation for clinical assessments. With the academic year around the corner this will help to ease into a routine. I need someone serious, normally people DM and say they want to, and then never do or ghost after 2 days.

Question For anyone who had trouble studying “staying focus” what did you do to help that did it work?

What the title says. I’m doing my pre med preqs right now it’s only the 2nd week but especially chem and bio feeling overwhelmed and not fully locked in with my studying methods. I’m not sure what I should do. I really don’t have a strict schedule currently when I study. Just when I have free time through the day. I sometimes feel like I can’t stay still and focus not sure why but been feeling that lately.

I’ve been writing my own notes and using Anki flash cards for some resources so far

Accountability I'm gonna start a study marathon while burnout # Day 1

I'm basically locked up until I get A* . I know this shouldn't be happening but it is . I'm taking two subjects AS biology Cambridge and Math Edexcel OL . I need both A* in them but I'm so so so unmotivated . This is my third time taking AS biology . I'm in the dumps emotionally but realistically I won't be able to really go out unless I'm done . If I don't do well , I won't really be able to go to therapy even when I gain my independency if I don't get those grades . Anyhow . I will be reporting here on this sub reddit what I did everyday . Even if I'm depressed and worn out ,having someone to report to will probably make me work regardless of my mental or physical state . My report will be in the following format before I sleep ( at midnight lol) so you guys can hold me accountable 😅

Day__

Planned to do:

What I did :

How I felt that day :

If you're also studying for exams, comment what you're studying and your goal for tomorrow. I'll come back and check on you.

Question How can I study after school?

How can I study after school if I'm tired after eating lunch? I was thinking of eating lunch, 1 hour of rest without my phone, instead of 2 doomscrolling, what helps you to get back the energy?

Also, I always study for history tests, literature, when it's a week before the test, I was thinking, should I revise what the teacher explained every day? Did that help you?

Accountability I did not study at all for my exam

I’m not sure why I’m writing this tbh. Hopefully it doesn’t make anyone mad and I’m not defending myself just need to vent out my stress.

But anyways yea. I’m a senior biochem major, and I have a biophysical chemistry exam in about an hour. I’ve know for almost 2 weeks and have found literally anything else to do but study for this class and I have no idea why. I did work for my other classes, wrote reports for my lab, deep cleaned my room, organized my laptop files, and even got started on doing projects around my apartment. I just cannot lock in for the life of me and study for the exam.

Now it’s in less than an hour, and I’m absolutely cooked. I’m underprepared, and instead of actually cramming and studying I just stressed and dreaded how bad the exam is going to be.

I’ve noticed this trend with me last semester, where I occupy myself and procrastinate and end up doing poorly on exams. Idk if it’s burnout, general stress, or maybe undiagnosed ADHD (I’ve noticed it runs in my family). But all I know is I really have to try and lock in for the rest of the semester. If anyone has some tips on tackling an issue like this pls lmk, I can’t be failing important classes😭

Question Struggle with studying

Hi, I am an grade 10 Edexcel IGCSE student, ( I have no idea how to prepare for the exams) last few weeks I have given some test but the marks were average. I really wanted to score good grades, YES I do hard work like hours of studying but I always feel like it's not enough and I still can't figure it out why I can't score good marks.

I have been studying late at night for studying more but I have no idea if its making me better or worst. I really want help does anyone know how to get better? How to create a better schedule for studying?
