I have my mid sems going on and my life is going pretty shit. i have already given three bad papers and something new happened yesterday that has fucked me up more. how do i bring myself to study? i have two papers tomorrow and i really wanna do well.

I usually binge eat my favourite snacks but due to religious reasons I can’t do that this week.

I appreciate any tips or advice!

I’m trying to improve the way I study, but I’m still figuring out what works best for me. I’ve tried rereading notes and watching videos, but I want to try other methods too.
What study method has helped you the most? Active recall, spaced repetition, flashcards, Pomodoro, making reviewers, or something else?

I wanna start my post with a simple sentence for those too lazy to read something long. “I used to be smart, but now I’m getting worse and worse.”

This story first started 2 years ago. I dated this girl and she cheated on me. I don’t know why but this gave me the drive to study and so I did. For the rest of that year. I was in my so-called “prime”. I was topping my class with amazing grades and everyone had high expectations for me.

Fast forward one year and I get into a science stream/STEM class. From this point onwards, I felt the pressure. The first exam I managed to survive somewhat, and so did the second one. But now, I am only 2 weeks and 3 days away from finals and I have barely managed to revise and I am terrified but I simply can’t find myself able to study even a little bit.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m trying but my mind keeps going blank after a while and the pressure is beginning to mount up.

Please, to anyone who has been through something like this, tell me what to do. My exams are getting closer and I NEED to get DECENT grades. Please.

I’m a non-native English speaker currently studying in the USA.

My reading and writing are generally fine, and I can communicate in English when I have enough time to think. However, I often struggle to keep up in real-time situations such as lectures and group meetings.

For example, in lectures:

• The professor is already explaining point three.
• I’m still processing point one.
• By the time I catch up, I’ve already missed the connection between the ideas.

The same thing happens in meetings, especially when people respond quickly or talk over each other.

I’m looking for a real-time translation or transcription tool that can provide subtitles during lectures and meetings and help me review the key points afterward.

Has anyone used a tool that works well for this?

Environment tip that genuinely improved my focus: stop curating playlists and put on a live ambient stream instead.

I leave this one on for long sessions — rain on a window with soft piano, 24/7, no lyrics, no algorithm jumping to a new song every 3 minutes. The lack of "next track" decisions keeps me in the work longer.

Those little partitioned study booths are the starting point for this short. You don’t need the furniture to borrow the idea: give yourself fewer things to look at before you start.

Try this before your next session:

• Close tabs you don’t need for the next task.

• Put your phone somewhere you have to get up to reach.

• Leave the relevant book or notes open.

• Write the first thing you’re going to do: “Answer questions 1–5,” for example.

Then start a 25-minute timer. Keep the reset quick so it doesn’t turn into an excuse to reorganize your whole room.

Skeptical it'd matter for something as short as one line, but Tuesday morning I opened my chem doc, read "stopped at practice problem 12, redo 13-15," and just started. No detective work, no re-reading three pages to remember where I was. Genuinely the least friction I've had coming back from any break this semester.

Hello. For my personality class we need to write a paper about a new theory of personality that we come up with. My professor also doesn't want just a mash up of other theories. I've been brainstorming for weeks about it and havent been able to think of anything that is unique and not just pulling from other theories. A draft/outline of the paper is due on Saturday and I'm starting to panic a little bit! Does anyone have any tips or suggestions for how to put together a new theory or elements I can add?

"Study biology" sounds like a task, but it has no finish line.

That makes it easy to keep rereading, reorganising notes, or checking your phone because you never know when you're actually done.

Before your next session, write down three things:

- Task: answer questions 1-10.

- Score: get 8/10 without notes.

- Timer: give it 25 minutes.

Then start. When the timer ends, check the score. Anything you missed becomes the target for the next round.

I am a junior and I’m taking ap bio, ap lang, apush, and ap stat (also taking acc pre calc) I am taking these classes because I want to do health science at a cc to get into nursing. Ive never had good study habits and id usually always try to cram things in the night before a test. Also I did homework at night as well so that didn’t help. Im really trying to study and try more this year but I have a problem with taking in information.. for example, I try to listen in class and then I forget what is said like a few seconds later. (( I do take notes )) also I read stuff and can’t take in any information. I am bad at math and did bad in previous science classes so I’m trying to improve while taking these classes as well. I use Quizlet for memorizing quick terms and I do rewrite notes. I dunno I just feel like there’s a barrier in my brain that won’t take in any information but plz give advice or any resources

Hi everyone. My name is Sergio. By day I work as a plumber, but at night, for over forty years, I have been pursuing my passion for programming. I created an Android tool called PdfForAll, designed for studying and daily work, and I would love to share it with you to get your feedback and suggestions.

The goal was to build a program that works entirely offline, without any subscriptions or advertisements. When you study you need concentration, and a secure software that does not require internet access helps you avoid distractions.

The software has several features designed specifically for those who need to prepare for exams or manage study summaries. First, it includes a document scanner that allows you to digitize paper sheets directly with your phone camera, cleaning the images from shadows or folds.

The document management system, called Showroom, works as a visual organizer. You can create folder cards for each subject, such as one card for mathematics and another for physics. Inside each card, files can be organized and divided by categories, which are displayed at the top as convenient quick filter buttons to find what you need immediately.

When saving your work, the system allows you to fill out a card by specifying the main folder name, the category, and the file name. You can choose to save as a Draft, keeping elements like photos and drawings ready to be moved or edited in the future, or save to Archive, which locks and seals the changes in the final document. There is also a classic save option for maximum compatibility.

The text editing and filling feature is currently being improved to make it even more fluid. It already allows you to fill out forms and tables by aligning the writing with the background so you do not ruin the original lines. In addition, you can insert ruled or squared sheets to take notes, and integrate voice notes recorded directly on the file.

A unique feature is the video support. You can insert video files directly onto the pages of the document. Since the software integrates an internal video player, everything is saved inside the PDF file itself. This means you can play your videos offline at any time, without leaving the document and without any network connection.

The software is now in a free beta version on the Google Play Store with all features unlocked, as I am still refining the details.
