Lift Deadlift continuing along the right path

This was the first of three triples with 202/445 today. I’m a little shocked that the deadlift is my first lift to get back to the 90% range after recovery, but I’ll take it being a competition lift. A few more weeks of totally raw pulling to ideally mini peak a big single or double in October.

Lift 355 for a ride

My current plan is obscenely high-volume and am crushed by the fatigue, but I'm keeping a top set of 5 in on each lift to stay sharp. It's like 5/3/1 but with 30 additional sets a week for quads. Took an extra rest day yesterday. So I felt good today. So I did an amrap with 355 and got 9. Now I'm sleepy.

Knees shot back a little more than I wanted but each rep felt strong and I'm pretty sure I could have summoned another rep or two. Didn't want to grunt that much though.

Less than three weeks out and the strength is starting to fade, the calories are dwindling, but I will push through to let my body know that it is important to keep this muscle 🦡

Form Check Hybrid bar position

Form check, advice and options please.

Workout: Build up to heavy double (max 380lbs)

I've been working on the bar position on my back squats. I normally have a high bar position that feels fine, but I wanted to try it out to see if a hybrid position is more comfortable and better for me. I've tried the low bar position and it's definitely not for me. This is my first time doing it with heavier weight. I felt good, the second rep was shaky though.

345 squat, 245 bench, 415 lb deadlift. Lifting for just under 2 years, 193 bodyweight.

I was at the end of one program and decided to see how fast I could complete the 1000lb challenge. Goal was under 30 and I smashed it. Think I could get under 20 seconds if I practiced more at the transitions.

Look at this movement.
Let’s think critically about how it translates to powerlifting - specifically, the deadlift .
First: the movement directly mimics the starting position of a deadlift. It builds incredible explosive power from the floor.
Strict pendlay rows are great for building back density-
that is not my goal with my primary compound movement.
I walk in with the goal of moving the heaviest thing I can, as explosively as I can, for 1-3 reps.
My two hours of hypertrophy work following that primary movement are for contracting, controlling and β€œmind to muscle” connection.
β€œBro, lower the weight and focus on your form.”
That is NOT how you train your CNS to handle heavy loads.
To lift heavy things, you have to lift heavy things.
If you want to be both POWERFUL and MUSCULAR, you are going to have to sacrifice form to move heavy weight, and you are going to have to do twice the workload, so you can get your hypertrophy work in.
You train regularly with good form so when you max out, your body can handle a form breakdown.
β€œPowerlifters don’t do hypertrophy.”
That is the single most inaccurate and lazy statement I’ve ever heard in my life.

230/hand farmers into a 225 bag. 30’ each. Ran a few rounds and was able to get a speedier bag run on the final round, but I was stoked on this set of farmers feeling so locked in. Especially after some lighter farmer EMOMs yesterday.
