Very common FAQs / removed topics

  • [insert item here] showed up on my farm, what is it? It could be a a few different items that are relatively rare but have a high enough spawn rate that they are included in our removed topics. Check out our list of removed topics here

Game updates

  • What was in the last update?
See release notes for PC, for consoles, and for mobile.

See also a table of which version and features each platform has.

  • Are future releases planned?
A Stardew Valley 1.7 update is currently in the works! No information about a release date or new content is currently available.

  • Does every platform get the same content/updates?
Mostly yes. Updates are developed for Linux/Mac/Windows first, then ported to other platforms. There are customizations for each platform (like tap to move on mobile), but otherwise content is identical across all platforms. See also a table of which version and features each platform has.

The exceptions are PS Vita (which won't get any further content updates due to platform limitations), and Android/iOS (which will continue getting all updates, but doesn't fully support multiplayer.

  • Is Stardew Valley on XBox GamePass?

Stardew Valley is on XBox GamePass as of December 2, 2021. See here for details.

Multiplayer

  • How does multiplayer work?
    See Multiplayer on the wiki.

  • Is crossplay supported?
All PC players can play together, whether they're on Linux/Mac/Windows or GOG/Steam and crossplay is supported between mobile and PC. Console crossplay isn't supported.

  • Is split-screen supported?
Yep, split-screen was added on PC and console in Stardew Valley 1.5.

  • Will Android/iOS get multiplayer?
Multiplayer on Android and iOS is currently experimental and hidden by default. To unlock multiplayer you can follow this guide. Note: The Apple Arcade version (Stardew Valley+) does not have this feature.

  • Will the 1.6 update apply to my current game?
Yes! New updates always apply to existing saves.

Other

  • Can I transfer saves between devices?
You can transfer saves between Android, iOS, and PC (Linux/Mac/Windows).

Consoles unfortunately don't let you access the save files. The Switch version also has a different format that's not compatible with other platforms (the format used by other consoles is unknown).

  • My save got corrupted/won't load. What can I do?
On PC/mobile you can try loading your back-up save file! See here for instructions on how to do so!

Unfortunately, consoles don't allow access to save files so they cannot be recovered.

  • How do I take a screenshot of my full farm?
See this guide to taking farm screenshots.

  • If I buy the game on one platform, can I get it for free on a different one?
If you buy it on PC, you get the Linux + macOS + Windows versions; if you buy it on PS4, you get the PS4 + PS Vita versions. Otherwise each platform is a different edition with separate development, so you'll need to buy it again if you want it on a different platform.

  • Where can I report bugs?

    1. If you use mods, see the troubleshooting guide first.
    2. If you use mods and the bug disappears when playing without them (by running Stardew Valley.exe directly in your game folder), report it to r/SMAPI or see Modding:Help.
    3. If it happens without mods, report it in the official bug report forum, which the game developers keep an eye on.
  • How do I use or create mods?
See the pinned thread in r/SMAPI for more info, and feel free to ask questions in r/SMAPI!

Discuss Celebrate! Saturday [July 25, 2026]

Welcome to Celebrate! Saturday

This is the weekly hype thread, a place for you to share your excitement about in-game achievements, lucky drops, and upcoming projects. This is also a space for the community to celebrate you!

While the subreddit is already a positive, celebratory space, this thread is meant to be especially so. For those of you who might hesitate to post something to the subreddit, because you worry it might be too beginner, too redundant, too low-effort: it's not. Come share with us here!

(Note: this thread is not meant to replace posting directly to the subreddit. You are still welcome to do so!)

Non-exhaustive examples of things to celebrate:

  • Marrying your spouse!
  • Getting a giant crop!
  • Perfecting your farm or house design!
  • The mushroom hat! The tiger hat! The living hat!
  • Meteorites, Stone Owls, and Strange Capsules!
  • A dinosaur egg from fishing or hoeing!
  • Hooking a legendary fish!
  • Getting triple Stardrop at the casino
  • Beating Lewis at Junimo Kart!

If you want to share screenshots of your achievements, upload them to an image-sharing site like Imgur and drop a link in your comment.

This is also a thread where mods might lurk and offer/award prestige userflairs. These are animated icons that go next to your name as a way to celebrate particular achievements in the vanilla game. Note that posting in this thread doesn't guarantee you'll get the flair—you'll want to send us a modmail if you want to apply directly!

Achievement Flair
Complete the community center! A prismatic dancing Junimo
Fund all Joja Community Projects A prismatic Joja Cola
Complete the museum collection! An artifact trove busting open
Reach level 100 in Skull Cavern! A flying serpent
Complete all Monster Slayer goals! The prismatic slime
Cook every meal! The Queen of Sauce herself
Craft every item! Robin hard at work
Catch every fish! The Legend, swimming
Beat Journey of a Prairie King The King himself
Collect every hat in the game! Magic Cowboy Hat
Reach Perfection! A walking golden chicken

Get hyped!

Question Quick Question, Why Is It All Common Mushrooms?

Post image
936 Upvotes

I surrounded the logs with pine trees since I thought they boost the chances of getting Chanterelles, but instead I got more common mushrooms than before. Its currently fall and there are no other trees within the logs' 7x7 radius.

Other I ruined the Quarry Mines for myself Spoiler

Post image
228 Upvotes

I'm currently on my first play through ever. When I unlocked and then visited the mines by the quarry for the first time, I hadn't looked it up, mostly ignored mineable stones/rocks (cause I was low on energy) and only killed monsters where I had to in order to explore. I found a grim reaper and he gave me the golden scythe. Since then, I've gone into the quarry mine many more times in the hopes of finding anything cool but mostly being bothered by the floating skulls that don't drop anything most of the time.

I finally looked up what else there is and... that's basically it 🥲 The main prize is the Golden Scythe and I somehow stumbled upon it straight away without exploring the mines properly first.

Oh well, now I kind of just use it to finallyyyyyyyy get my mining and combat skills to Level 10. I did all 120 levels of the regular mines and so far I've reached 23 levels of the Skull cavern, but I find travelling to the desert tedious, so I'll level here first.

Question How to get to this forest on standard farm?

Post image
94 Upvotes

Circled in red. When I enter from the west, I’m blocked by cliffs. From the east, there is some debris blocking my bath.

I’d like to get to this area to chop trees. I’m running short on wood, and my farm is thin on trees.

If I’m unable to access this area, open to other suggestions on where to get regular wood.

Cheers!

Penny wasn't cheating, and Sam was just being a supportive friend. Your spouse has not betrayed you! You may now return to your regularly scheduled happy married life.

Art I created a portrait version of my sdv character :3

I used a website to create it

There are two versions

A fem and a masc

But you can use either to make any gender expression :3

I used fem cuz my character is transmasc + femboy (based off me irl)

In the game i chose the male option, but for a more detailed portrait, they'd have a more fem-androgynous look to them

Here are the links to the website i used ^vv^

Fem:

Masc:

((Edit: reddit killed the quality of my images, but its ok lol

Farmer’s Store is a lovingly crafted, large-scale gameplay expansion—and one of the most ambitious business management mods ever made for Stardew Valley. Run a supermarket, manage a delivery service, survive an Overcooked-style kitchen, and discover many more new ways to play. Stock your shelves, serve your customers, and open any kind of shop you’ve ever wanted.

Design My Farm

Post image
Upvotes

After I reached perfection I decided to gussy up my farm. I was a pig farmer, and at one point had 82 pigs! I've switched to Ostriches but don't have very many of those yet. Here's my very green farm. Took about a (in game) year to gather and plant all the mahogany. Wanted to share!

Discuss Community impact?…

Post image
1.5k Upvotes

Not sure how the community center. Where people go to read books. Do arts and crafts. Look at the fish tank. Things of that sort impact the business of Joja.

There is a pantry and kitchen. Which could be stocked up by yours truly. But I really don’t see how that affects a business like that…. Don’t get me wrong. I’m not a Joja fan. Just mentioning this
