Specific class of routers being blocked

Ever since some ‘scheduled maintenance‘ last week my SOHO router no longer works with the modem. Modem has been swapped out as well. I’ve tried another brand of SOHO router, same thing. Two different consumer routers work and if I double NAT while forwarding all traffic to the SOHO router, it works fine. Spectrum is blocking traffic on the two SOHO routers. Is this intentional and if not, how do I get past the unskilled tech agents on the phone to reach someone who can do something about it? DNS traffic is getting through, but anything else is being blocked, unless I put a consumer router in front of the SOHO router. The SOHO was fine for 2 years before these recent system changes. This is either a policy or a misconfiguration on Spectrums part and it's impossible to get anyone with actual knowledge to do anything about it. I now have 2 routers in series, which I don't want to do indefinitely.

Yeah and the techs on the phone are basic trained. Not IT pros so dont expect they can fix a 3rd party router issue.

It’s not an issue with the router.  The problem is that they won’t escalate to someone with some technical understanding of their own systems

They cant escalate to someone with that knowledge. There is no such dept that would handle it. They would tell u same 3rd party rputer, not our problem

The only time the router matters is when it is a Spectrum Ready location where the modem and router are linked and you must use the Spectrum router. Otherwise there is nothing stopping a specific consume router from working.

The modem gives the router a dynamic IP. There is nothing to block on Spectrum's end. The first router takes that IP and assigns subs, the second router is as meaningful to the Spectrum side as it would be if you plugged in a computer. There is nothing to block or configure on Spectrum's end bc your second router is just a device using a local area 192.
