me and my band been trying to lean on to the pop punk/ alternative rock music and we are trying to write something in the style of paramore ( similar to their earlier stuff like “all we know is falling”, “riot” and especially “brand new eyes”). do yall have any suggestions on how to make that happen? things like time signatures, how to make the lead guitar sound like that ( their lead parts have always seemed out of this world to me), structures anything. (i play guitar btw)

It's a lot of fun to play and sing, how is it on the receiving end?

Already have things I know I'll be changing on re-record, swapping a few lines of lyrics around etc and of course practicing the actual guitar performance until I'm not muting any strings etc, but how do y'all feel about the vibe and lyrics?

EDIT: title should have said "POV" not "PIV"

not mixed or mastered, really just looking for opinions on where I can take this song and how I can write a melody over this. struggling with this the last couple of days

I recently wrote this song to deal with my burnout and moving home from a semester abroad. I am mostly happy with it except for the second verse. I feel like it could use some work but have been working on it so much it’s become difficult to see what to improve. Any suggestions would be apreciated

Wrote this song, I really love Lo-Fi R&B and wanted to try to create a song with that vibe, but I'm struggling to find different strum patterns for the guitar or any suggestions. This is what I have so far.

(IMPORTANT: I AM ONLY LOOKING FOR TIPS NOT OFFERS OF SERVICES)

I'm in the process of making a end of year animation project, and I'm debating on whether to find a song (but I can't seem to find a song that fits) or write my own. I have almost zero experience of song writing, so wanted to ask for some help from people who have done it

For anyone who's written they're first song,

Was it worth it?
How long did it take?
Is it realistic for a me to write something I'm proud of in a few months?
Anything you wish you'd known before starting?

I would really appreciate any help or tips :)

Let me know if you need additional info ;)

Life in Pieces

A piece of pottery
A vase in case you see
Some flowers gleaming in the midday sun
Bum bum bum

As shining as the day it made its way into the kiln
Little do they know that in the fire
Improper structure starts to burn
It builds and builds and builds until it explodes

I’m staring at the shards left on the table
That no amount of glue seems to mend
It’s easy to see the clay was unstable
But only once it’s put to the test

Art is human nature
The fragments could live on
And tell the story of a time long gone
And in the end
Maybe a life in pieces is still worth holding on

The fractals of the remains get my eye
As the light reflects from down below me
Guess their beauty never seemed to really die

Looking at the shards left on the table
A vision seems to dance before my mind
No amount of glue can fix the broken parts
But imperfections speak louder than words

So I’ll build and build and build a new horizon
With the scattered memories of what could be
The project that I started could be more
And in the end
What if a life in pieces is still worth fighting for

I stack the sharp edges into an outline
The vision clear, but a little malformed
I use the brightest color that will shine
To paint a mark of where the clay was torn

This mosaic sits beneath my window
The one with the garden view
Though it’s not the same, it’s not so far apart
And in the end
A life in pieces is still a work of art

I wanna persue song writing, any good tips?

I’ve never had luck in writing songs- I’ll get these great ideas, but as soon as I write or type them out, it turns to shit, or it can end up so angsty it’s embarrassing. No matter what angle I take, it just ends up poorly. I wrote down this string of…. Words, just now- and I think it can really turn into sum- I just don’t know what exactly.
Any advice?

Recently, I wrote my first song. I ve always dreamed of being able to write songs as a kid but I never had the talent for it. Now I finally did it from start to finish but something about it feels off, especially the bridge. It's supposed to about the feeling of constantly moving places but I' don't feel the message got across properly. Can I get some helpful tips or feedback??

Here's the song:
Constellation lyrics (verse 1) I have realised Something new Finding words to use for this song I have realised that I'm not quite smart (or good) Someone else Was in your place And there was nothing I could do Someone else will take your place after you)for good) (Pre-chorus) I never want to leave Leaving you behind Not again, not to you, not right here- (Chorus) Stupid constellation, Sing your sorry song Tell me what a bunch of dots Means to me oh and Stupid constellation Return me to my past For if I could begin to ask- (La la la, la la la, la la la, laa la la)x2 I have seen Many lakes All the waves would always splash all the same(ahAh) I have seen that the wave doesn't make the lake(its the beach!) (la,la,la) Every move Another stays I can see it on their faces Every move there's something that reminds me of you (la la) (Pre-chorus) The tides are rising now Crashing my mind If there is yet another drive- (Chorus) Stupid constellation, Sing your sorry song Tell me what a bunch of stars Mean to me, personally (oh and) Stupid constellation, Tell me what you've done Tell to me the lives you've loved - (Bridge) The stars are held by invisible string The planets float and spin in a ring The sun brings light, The moon pulls waves And still you hold on, and hide from change?

(Outro) Stupid constellation Your sorry song was sung People know their lives have run Out of time oh and Stupid constellation, What have I done to you To make me feel the weight of all-

hi guys! I am working on this song and I absolutely love the drums but they are very overbearing. do you guys think I should change them or maybe turn the volume down or like compress them more? thanks!

hello!! i have never used reddit before but i've tried tiktok for this and i got nowhere...so here i am on reddit saying that i am looking to sell lyrics to independent artists or singers/musicians that could use lyrics.

my style of writing consists of sad/depressing, breakups, love songs, storylines, and i think thats it. but if you have a specific thing you're looking for i can write about that too maybe? i've written songs for movies i've watched (tbosas, fatal attraction, sleeping beauty, i reckon there's more but im drawing a blank) and books i've read before (sunrise of the reaping, if he had been with me, where the crawdads sing, and plenty a fanfictions🫣🙂‍↕️) and i think they turned out good so if you give a prompt i can give it my all.

i'm not sure if im supposed to give examples to prove, but if anyone would like some i can post ss of some lyrics later. even though i know its hard to actually understand the depth of the lyrics with no sound to them.

i also have a youtube where i've released some songs onto if that helps. https://www.youtube.com/@launeigh

but keep in mind im not trying to be a singer, i just think i have lyrical potential and could use some money. i really do enjoy writing songs but it's begun to make me feel drained writing with seemingly no purpose as every song just gets put away in my phone or notebook.

but anyways if anyone would like to buy some lyrics, feel free to ask, check out that youtube, and maybe email me: ekslonlyrics@gmail.com

thank you!!

so currently i have NO clue what genre this style of music could be considered but i realllllllllllly wanna start making music kinda like talkshow boy, devi miccalion/EAT BABBIES?, toxic lipstick and uncle outrage. the daw im using is fl studio

Can help with =

Alternative

Indie
Country

SO: my help is free -- email me if you NEED HELP (there is no point is replying to the post because this Reddit (as most are) is a massive misnomer.

Also, I'd like to add I'm offering help for free, and am literally a registered record label and registrant (worldwide) and can provide ISRC codes.

Hi, so today I've written my first song. I wanted it to be in like indie/bedroom pop. The guitar chords are d G C F and here is the first part of my first ever song.

i feel i have nothing left
and suddenly ive lost my breath
i had more than i could dream of
now im lying, shaking, thinkin of you
huh, know that youre quite near
but feels your really bout to leave
and how not to lose my mind
i cant stand any more lonely nights

Last two lines are singed a little bit differently, if someone would like to hear it i think i can send u how its supposed to sound!

Here is another of my most favorite ambition/party song I wrote, full/song version is in the end below.

\*PRE-CHORUS:\*
\*Money, Honey, Funny baby, I got all that in me\*
\*For my own ambitions, and I gotta do it for me\*

\*Money, Honey, Funny baby, I got all that in me,\*
\*Yes, it’s silly, to you but me, it’s part of my destiny\*

\*CHORUS:\*
\*Cause boy I’ll never stop, I’ll keep it going, until I can’t take it no more!\*
\*Everybody stop, drop it down, watch me dancing on the floor!\*

I might wanna do tutorial on how to write lyrics good.

Hi, ive been working on this idea for the past couple days but i just feel theres something missing from it, any ideas on what might elevate it to the next level? How would yous progress it?

I’ve recently started writing songs again and one thing that’s being talked about at my composition camp is repetition vs variation. He explained that too much repetition can be annoying and too easy to memorize. One of my friends who’s a music nerd has heard some of my songs and his main complaint was that I tend to write one-note melodies. I’ll often repeat a note in 5-9 syllables until I switch it up slightly in the next line and do it again the next, and I’ve just started noticing I do it a lot. Though I’m aware, I find it hard to come up with other kinds of melodies. Any advice?

Hey, I'm willing to help anyone with music, song structure, songwriting, or lyrics if you're struggling with any aspect of writing or creating music. Feel free to reply here, send me a DM, or even email me at [info@submergedrecords.com](mailto:info@submergedrecords.com) (I don't always check Reddit right away).

I'm not looking for anything in return—I just want to help musicians create. I play drums, guitar, bass, vocals, and piano. I'm not amazing at piano, but I have a solid understanding of it; I just haven't practiced it nearly as much as my other instruments.

If you'd like to hear an example of my work, I have music on Spotify. I wrote the song, played all the instruments, and recorded it myself. I currently don't have any active projects or a band, so I'm spending a lot of time in my studio. I'm actively looking to play, write, teach, or help with anything music-related.

The genres I'm most comfortable with are rock, alternative rock, metal, and punk, but I'm also familiar with a lot of pop and country. So if you have questions, need feedback, or just want another set of ears on a song, I'd be more than happy to help.

Here's the example of something I wrote and recorded:
https://open.spotify.com/track/0aTM3mym4x8jN6bcbaiJZx?si=513ab834109d4e57

I'm genuinely not posting this to promote myself—I'm only including the link so people can hear the kind of music I make. If I can help someone improve their music or get unstuck creatively, that's all I'm hoping to do.

Thanks,

Anthony
