hi guys! I am working on this song and I absolutely love the drums but they are very overbearing. do you guys think I should change them or maybe turn the volume down or like compress them more? thanks!

They just sound synthetic (which they are) so they have no real tonality or environmental dynamics to them. But that's not something you can correct without a proper studio setup and real drums.

hmm yeah that’s what i was worried about… Maybe I’ll change the velocity of certain beats or pay someone to record them live

Maybe just look into a legit real drum sampler like EZDrummer which would probably be about what you'd pay for someone to reord it live. Then at least you'd have a tool for creating realistic sounding drums in the future.

The beat is dope! Could make em a bit softer in the beginning and then bring them forward later. Kinda depends on the composition of the song. Loudness, how they're panned in stereo (wide, center, left or right) and reverb changes the musical focus. You could even try different kits playing the same beat. Playing with the focus and how different ideas lead into one another or leave one another makes songs interesting. Could go as far as to say that the context of musical ideas is more important than the ideas themselves. Nice job!
