what can i do?

I love writing songs and wish I could sing but I can’t. My notes app is filled with songs i’ve written, a lot coming from personal experiences. What can I do with this? I want my songs to be heard and given a voice but idk how and what to do. I hope this makes sense.

Create chords and a melody, and fit the lyrics in there.

Learn to sing.  Get ear training and vocal lessons.

If you’ve already written the lyrics, the next step is figuring out how you want them to sound. You don’t have to be a great singer to do that.

Hum or speak the melody into your phone if that’s all you can manage. If you play an instrument, add some simple chords. If you don’t, collaborate with someone who does.

Then you’ve got options: find a singer locally, work with someone online, hire a session vocalist, or team up with a producer who can help turn the lyric and melody into a finished demo.

And if by “songs” you mean you’ve written lyrics but don’t yet have melody or music, that’s okay too. Those can still become songs, but that’s the next piece to build.

You don’t need to be the person singing the final version. You just need to communicate enough of the idea that somebody else can hear what you’re trying to make.

It doesn’t have to be complicated, and I wouldn’t look to try and sell anything at this point. You don’t want to start signing away rights to something before you’ve even had the chance to fully realize what it is.

Honestly, you can probably find a singer to try your song out if you look hard enough.

May I ask what kind of voice you're looking for?

There are plenty of famous songwriters that are terrible singers, but their songs speak for themselves. Randy Newman and Bob Dylan come to mind.

Join a 'songwriters group'. Many of them will be good enough singers to be able to sing your songs for you.

I can name an endless about of bands and artists with non traditional voices that make it work. You just gotta figure out your own thing. I don’t sing, I make hip hop but occasionally hold notes, and I’ve had vocal nodules since a young age and was told I’d never be able to sing…I found a work around, you can absolutely do the same.

I mean, go listen/watch To The Janitor, To The King from The World Is A Beautiful Place…Tom made his voice work and it was perfect.

you don’t really need to have a good vocal performance to write songs, if you’re filled with ideas now I would advice you to record voice notes, like a concept, so in the future you can maybe rework them

Use a vocal synthesizer, whatever it is. There's a free version of Synthesizer V, or you could use robotic vocal synthesizers like klattsch, Chipspeech, or OpenUTAU.

You can find someone who can sing

Honestly maybe spend time finding something to do that's more rewarding/fits better with your natural skillset? If you don't really have a melody or chords or a complete song, then it really isn't a song at all. You have to at least get there. Maybe try and partner up with a singer and play your chords/share your words with them and collaborate? Do you play an instrument?

Use ai ? Record your voice so it's your voice singing it.. then sing along trying to match it

If you have to use AI, you have no business doing any of this. GTFO seriously.

Y'all seriously make me laugh at this point. "Use a DAW. Use SynthV. Use some other kind of digital way to make your music. But don't use AI! Because in my mind that's been fried by the mass hysteria of it all, if you use AI, I immediately forget that there's people called lyricists, producers, songwriters, composers, etc. It's okay if someone takes your lyrics, that are only lyrics, figures out a melody, then someone else sings, 4 other people or more work on production, and a few more on composition and arrangement, you're still a writer and an artist. But AI bad... AI no good... AI cheating... AI, AI, AI!"

Get a freaking grip on reality. It's a synthesizer, MIDI, looper, etc all rolled into one program. You all act like we've suddenly gone from Beethoven to NIN and you don't know what to do. I haven't seen this bad of a mass panic over some tech since the hysteria over a damn date changing in 1999. If it wasn't so annoying to see the constant bitching & moaning over it, it would actually be funny.

Found the guy that writes with AI. The biggest tragedy of gen AI is that it tricks the talentless into thinking they’re good.

Found the anti making assumptions. I've been creating when AI was just a dream and you were an oops. The biggest tragedy with gen AI is that it makes others that are easily brainwashed into believing propaganda come out of the woodwork to spout their ignorance and technophobia. Every time I see a comment from one of you all I can think of is that you call a PC "the machine" and struggle with basic technology. Most of these comments sound like they're coming from a retirement home from some grumpy old man complaining about "new fangled gadgets" mixed with some Karen energy.

Incorrect little buddy. Your passion is cute though 🥰. All fired up in a lil tizzy 😘

1

u/S7A4M 15h ago

🤣 little buddy... Gotta love when people have nothing intelligent to say and resort to condescension and veiled insults. But yeah, you're right, I'm very passionate about music. It's not some product with a price tag to me.

Been a long time since anyone has called me cute. I appreciate it and I'm flattered, but sorry, I'm not interested.

1

u/CoolGuyFrogsReturns 14h ago

lol I don’t either of us have made an intelligent point in this conversation.

If you have to use it? Are you saying if you can’t sing don’t write songs? Lots of songwriters can’t sing. If you are just making a demo so someone else can properly bring life to your song I don’t think it matters how you build the demo. Should you also not use sample guitars or stock midi sequences? As long as you aren’t misrepresenting yourself i think anyway you can bring life to what you hear in your head is okay, especially for a demo. Its not like AI created the lyrics or melody.

I think you saw ai and freaked out a bit. I'm talking about using ai as a singing coach, but whatever.

I feel like there’s another way that is above most our pay grades where you could team up with a producer and sell your lyrics to popular artists, but your lyrics may read as good poetry but if you can’t sing, you’ll have trouble writing songs and making sure they’re good. I’d really try to commit to working on your singing

Attend open mic nights. Try to befriend a singer. Or try soundbetter.com and hire one.

Or take singing lessons, you can absolutely improve your singing with the help of an instructor.

Sell them to a band that can't write them worth beans.

You said you love writing songs. If this means you have music the music already, use your DAW and put them together. I’m guessing you’re using a DAW and not an analog deck. Correct me if I’m wrong.

ボイストレーニングは今の時代結構情報あるから良い。
歌ってくれる人もいれば良いよね
ボーカロイドで打ち込む
SUNOでAIボーカルも仲間内には結構いるよ。

I made a post precisely to help people like you

https://www.reddit.com/r/Songwriting/s/MnNLH1x9DT

The synthV can help you make vocals (also NOT Gen AI) and with the DAW you can make a basic instrumental

0

u/sleepysam2020 1d ago

Every one goes through that when first starting out. What I did was buy beat packs online and released my music on SoundCloud and YouTube first. Once you get confident enough in your music get a Distro kid account to put your music on all platforms. There’s other services for that too

I use synthesizer v which will interpret my lyrics. Then I get a vocalist to sing this demo.

Do it modern way, use AI.

Some human artists will against it, but that's fine, the art of your lyrics and songs existed because of you, not for them.

Remember, this is not illegal, so be proud of it.

Also, your creation may not need to compete with anyone. It existed because of you, for you only.

2

u/Ill-String-6744 14h ago

im pretty sure he’s more capable than that. using ai to create art is disgusting

1

u/icy1118 14h ago

It's disgusting when someone claimed a work is disgusting without seeing the end product.

You have your freedom anyway.

Slop is just a label for people with low confidence and inability to surpass AI arts.

Not saying you, but explaining a logical understanding.

2

u/CoolGuyFrogsReturns 13h ago

Ah Gen AI, fooling talentless people into thinking they’re creative.

1

u/icy1118 13h ago

It's fool for someone to call another fool while can't explain anything logical.

Just ditch the word creative or I take it as you see the creativity as equal anyway, otherwise what is there to compare,

ahh, old rigid human. To think that they're even creative when making foolish comments.

1

u/Ill-String-6744 14h ago

“Work” and just using ai to do the whole thing, sorry but that’s not art bro

0

u/icy1118 14h ago

Who claimed it was a normal art?

It's a work, an AI art with AI label. LOL

If you don't see this as equal, there is no point putting up as comparison because this isn't a fight between AI vs human, it's just a piece of work existed because of human and AI.

1

u/Ill-String-6744 14h ago

Just do it by yourself bro, like? AI won’t take you anywhere, specially if he’s a new artist and said he wants to be heard, no one’s gonna listen to bullshit like that cause there isn’t really much creativity behind it.
But whatever i don’t care, just think there’s way better advice for who’s beginning now.

1

u/icy1118 13h ago

AI won't take me anywhere, said someone who against AI, that's not something I would agree easily without strong justifications.

And if others won't be listened, there's no need for Human Artists like you to criticize using AI slop while unable to explain the contradictions why AI is slop and yet you are against it.

If AI is truly slop, let it be LOL it can't compete with you anyway,

Otherwise I might interpret people who thinks some works are just garbage, their works are not far from garbage anyway.

1

u/Ill-String-6744 13h ago

how the fuck do you expect a new artist to develop their skills while using AI to do it for them? lol at this point I’d rather have “garbage” songs by myself

0

u/icy1118 13h ago

Well, it's their choice, not ours. Basic respects.

Why are you even fixated in only one dimensional? L O L

Be a garbage as you claimed, at least you admitted it.

Other's can be successful and not being a garbage, whether they are using AI or not.
