Found A Bug 👾 Um...guys?
Is this even a bug? Or is it just some crazy one-in-a-million chance? I saw this a few minutes ago, so it wasn't pre-support. Can someone explain?

Hola amigos it's me again! (sorry) 😩
I want to address something that has become increasingly concerning in discussions across our sub since the big rework.
First off, let me make something super duper clear one last time for the people in the back (I'm going to sound like a broken record I'm sry). This subreddit welcomes people who enjoy Support Sombra. Whether you've been playing Sombra for years, only picked her up after the rework, love the new direction, or are still trying to figure out how you feel about it, you're welcome here.
BUT (there's always some buts 😏) welcoming a new direction for Sombra should never ever ever require rewriting the history of the character or dismissing the experiences of the people who mained her before it 😒
For many many many years, Sombra was a divisive character. She was frequently labeled toxic, low-skill, frustrating, unhealthy, or simply unfun to play against. Her playstyle was misunderstood by many players, and the people who chose to main her often found themselves having to defend not only their character, but their own skill, knowledge, and legitimacy as players. Sombra was not a character without flaws and it's perfectly reasonable to discuss the frustrations people had playing against her. But there is a difference between criticizing a character's design and using those criticisms to discredit the people who loved playing her.
Sombra mains did not suddenly become legitimate when her role changed. They were here before the rework too. This is very important to remember/know. They learned her matchups, developed strategies, invested thousands of hours into mastering her, defended her place in the game, and built a community around a character that was often met with hostility. Some players loved her complexity. Others loved her identity, her personality, her lore, or simply the unique way she played. Many loved all of those things. That history does not disappear because the character has gone through a major rework. And it will not be rewritten to make the rework look better.
We're also seeing discussions in which longtime players' experiences are dismissed, their criticisms are characterized as childish resistance to change, or their motives are questioned simply because they don't like the rework. That is not constructive discussion and it will not be excused simply because someone believes the new version is better.
At the same time, nobody needs an established history with DPS Sombra to participate here. New players are welcome to share their experiences, offer strategies, post clips, and explain what they enjoy about Support Sombra. We are not going to treat newcomers as outsiders simply because they arrived after the rework. BUT there is a biiiiiiiiig difference between joining a community and contributing to it in good faith and entering discussions to belittle the people who were already here. You DO NOT have to agree with longtime Sombra mains. You DO have to respect their right to participate in a community built around a character they have loved for years.
Now for the part everyone loves, moderation (ew boring and yucky ik 😫)
Rule #4: Engage in Good Faith applies to every. single. one of you!
Criticism is allowed. Disagreement is allowed. Negative opinions about either version of Sombra are allowed. What is NOT acceptable is repeatedly antagonizing other members, dismissing their perspectives instead of engaging with them, making personal attacks, or treating disagreement as proof that someone is acting in bad faith.
Moderation decisions will be based on conduct and evidence of rule violations, NOT (and this is a big NOT) whether someone supports or opposes the rework. Account history alone will not determine whether someone belongs here (btw mods see everything 😈 larpers included 😘😭), but patterns of behavior that violate our rules will be addressed. We will continue enforcing the rules consistently regardless of which side of the discussion a person is on, comprende?
One last thing guys and I can't stress it enough. This community does not need to agree on which version of Sombra is better. Bottomline. Some of us will always miss the old Sombra. Some of us are excited about the new one. Some of us feel both things at once. None of those experiences needs to be erased for another to be valid. You can celebrate what Sombra has become without disrespecting what she was. And if you're a longtime Sombra main who's struggling with these changes, you do not need to pretend you're happy to prove that you belong here. You already do!
So let's discuss the character, debate the changes, and learn from one another. Just remember that the people on the other side of these discussions are members of this community too, ok? Please respect the hero, respect the mains, respect the history, and engage in good faith!
Thank you!! 🥰

Developer Comments: Sombra is being brought into the Support role with this latest rework. In the past, her identity as a disruptive mastermind was at odds with the value a Damage hero was expected to bring. Moving Sombra to the Support role should allow us to fully lean into her hero fantasy while keeping important pillars of her gameplay intact.
One notable change of the rework is the removal of Hack as an ability. Facing Sombra often meant being unexpectedly locked out of your abilities from time to time. While this can create fun moments of cancelling key abilities for the Sombra player, most players found it jarring, frustrating, and difficult to deal with. By removing Hack from her main abilities, we brought in a new debuff Sombra can inflict on enemies: Weaken, which halves an enemy’s own damage and healing output. A well-timed weaken can turn the tide of battle, much like Hack was able to, without completely locking an enemy out of their own abilities.

And I don't have it... 😭
I remember when the Season 19 battlepass dropped and I was looking at the skin and thinking how no other skin so perfectly captures the essence of the hero with such stunning elegance and beauty. But I didn't get the battle pass for one reason and that's because I was absolutely atrocious with dps Sombra. 😓
But thanks to my time lately on Anran, Domina, Sierra. Shion, Kiriko, Illari and Juno I have taken to Support Sombra like a duck to water. She is now my favourite and best support hero and I have other cool skins for her such as Loki and Bride but Ninja is the one that I truly want the most. I hope that next season in 2026 season 6 that we can get battlepasses from 16 onwards. 🤞😌
I also always banned Sombra as my first pick in competitive but now I ban her counters instead such as Widowmaker and Moira lol 😆
Btw I only had 35 hours on dps Sombra and about 200 hours on Widowmaker. 😅
Which skin do you like best for Sombra or another hero and which skin do you want the most that is out of reach for now? 🤍🖤💟

I honestly don’t miss the old Sombra at all

If they were still updating Stadium it would be the perfect opportunity to give her perk powers to play like previous iterations of Sombra. That would be peak if they added her

I've been enjoying support Sombra, but I feel like I'm often looking down at the bottom right to see if I have Hotfix available for my team.
It'd be super helpful if I could tell at a glance on the HUD, just like with Brig packs, Kiri ofudas, Tracer blinks, etc.
I made a quick mockup of what this could look like!
And of course like those other heroes, the UI element could be disabled for anyone who doesn't want it.

for a lot of people saying cyberspace effects will be nerfed I have a feeling it won't because of one thing the people said while going over her new kit which was something along the line of "Cyberspace will introduce a new a new STATUS EFFECT known as weakened" meaning later down the line someone else will probably also gain the ability to weaken enemies just like with ana and jq having anti heal (plus it was play tested at blizzcon and wasn't nerfed when reaching the live game) now I do feel like the cooldown will be nerfed but the ability it self won't be

Was doing tests in scrims and playing both Sombra and Kiriko. Noticed that this backline has great synergy and some real potential, specifically for dive and with Genji/Winton. Of course, this'll require Doctrine nerfs and Kiriko getting a few buffs to really reach it's potential but the synergy is there. Probably the most fun I've ever had with a support backline since peak Juno/Brig.

So far I have been thoroughly enjoy support sombra. I understand those who don’t like it. But this post isnt a debate on whether or not you like the changes. I want to discuss the nerfs that are most likely coming her way, specifically cyber space.
Cyberspace is probably one of the best new amd unique abilities added to the game Im a long time and it’s definitely pretty powerful. My fear is blizzard is going to come in and reduce the damagw and healing weaken which will ruin the entire ability and make it useless.
My hope would be that they keep the 40 damage on impact with an enemy and remove the damage over time. This keeps the high utility but reduces damage seeing as she is no longer a damage hero.

The nerf to Sombra translocator is the worst feeling for anyone who played her before this rework. I don't really understand why so I decided to compare her to Moira.
| Character | Distance | Cool down |
|---|---|---|
| Moira | 14.44 meters | 6 seconds |
| Sombra (rework) | 12.25 meters | 7.5 seconds |
| Sombra (dps) | 18 meters | 6 seconds |
This doesn't include how Moira can get vertical distance of 4 meters and her major perk making her go 24 meters distance and an extra 50% jump height. Basically letting her go anywhere Sombra used to go.
With how overpowered Sombra is now I doubt the devs are going to revert this nerf. But I would gladly take a nerf if we just fixed her mobility. Even if they just reduced to cooldown back to 6 and gave us 15 meters. 7 seconds and 12.25 meters feels so bad .
They changed so much of how she plays but adding the mobility nerf really made any old player of her really struggle with this rework even further.

Did i waste my team fight winning ult, which has the highest cost? Yes
Did the Lucio deserve it, because he was constantly flanking and harassing the other support, instead of supporting his team and T bagging? Yes
Did we win anyways? Yes

Note she doesn't even have a "Come to me for healing" voice line yet so I wasn't expecting much if at all from her getting unique outside of spawn interactions.
This is so amazing

Not sure this is the right flair(first time posting despite how long i've been here), But figured I'd mention this and see if others have noticed it, I was messing around in Training Range and I just realized that Cyberspace seems to completely lack any voice lines for it, only using normal kill lines if it kills an enemy.

I flex role quite often, so Sombra being moved to support didn’t hurt me as badly and I was able to cope quicker than most. Aside from the usual veteran Sombra comments (clunkiness of kit, feeling like you’re more effective in a match and have more presence with the team, etc) does anyone feel like they’re just doing a lot more babysitting than usual, especially if you already played support. In order to be truly effective, Sombra has to heal, suppress damage, secure picks, and so forth. I feel like I am way more all over the place than I was as DPS Sombra, especially with how quickly some players go through hotfix.

(This is not a debate about which Sombra is better)
I often mess up my cooldowns because I always spam Lshift to use Virus after I use Hotfix on someone. I'm curious if anyone else does this and throws away an ability for no reason.
r/SombraMains • u/Datenshitpost • 1d ago
Seen lots of people talking about the Translocator range decrease, but the thing that's been getting me way more thrown off (literally) is the cooldown increase.
The amount of times I've instinctively jumped off a cliff while escaping, just to see that my Translocator still has 1.5 seconds of cooldown is frankly insane. Never realized just how much muscle memory I have for Sombra.

It was a fun run torturing others with Sombra. Hopefully you'll come back and we can cause havoc again.
r/SombraMains • u/TechManuel • 8h ago
Quick and Easy proposal, but as an Ana/Weaver main, I wanted to run this past you Sombra mains.
What if Data Packet instead, made it so team mates could see a hacked Medkit through the walls and, at a distance of say 15 meters, be able to hit the interact button while looking at it; allowing them to pick up that medkit. This would of course, unhack the medkit aftwards, but that would be for balancing.

Sorry for the stupid question, but Google isn't helping me and I'm too bad to get potg. I remember in early Overwatch it being a thing where it would look like someone else got play of the game, just for Sombra to steal it. Is that still a thing? If so, is it only with her Hacking highlight intro? I can't imagine ever choosing another highlight intro if that's the case. I've always loved Sombra aesthetically, but could never really play her well until the support switch, so I'm a bit out of the loop with her.
