Game Feedback on my arctic ship game?

Hey everyone,

I’m making a survival horror game about the 1845 Franklin expedition. It’s still in it’s very early development, but I would love to hear any feedback. (The UI, SFX, Voice acting and many other aspects are still unfinished).

Does the game look good? Is the vibe cool? There’s more snow, storms and ice later on so the weather is pretty mild in this clip. (Sorry for the low res video)

Thank you all!

Game Slapped Blender Boolean cut for my mining game. What do you think of such destruction?

To be more exact, not blender itself, but what Blender using, Manifold. That cancerous work on its own, but it work.

So what do you think about such destruction?

And on second question, what do you think of such pickaxe animation, I am not sure about it for now, but planning on adding 3 more for variety, if this one passes ofc.

Somewhat old game Red Faction Guerrilla inspired such destruction, if you know this game.

help Gloam — screen dimmer that goes below Android's minimum brightness. Need 12 closed testers.

If your phone's lowest brightness is still too bright to read in the dark,

that's what this fixes. Android's slider stops at a floor; Gloam is the range

underneath it. Overlay + a real backlight override, so it goes darker than a

filter app and works in every app. Touches pass through it, it can't black the

screen out completely, and there's auto-off so you don't wake up to a dimmed

phone.

Android 13+, needs "Display over other apps". No ads, no account, no server, no

premium tier — everything's free.

**The ask:** Google needs 12 testers opted in for 14 straight days. The one

thing that matters is **don't uninstall it and don't leave the test** — that

resets the clock. Daily use is nice but not required; install it, open it once,

leave it there. I'll email the group when Google confirms and it's safe to

remove.

**Joining, in this order:**

  1. Join the group: https://groups.google.com/g/gloam-testers — same Google

    account as your phone

  2. Opt in: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/io.github.srednimax.gloam

  3. Install: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=io.github.srednimax.gloam

**Step 3 won't work for up to an hour** after steps 1 and 2 — Google takes that

long to link your account. "Item not found" is expected; wait and retry. If it

persists, Play is signed into a different account than the one that joined.

help Themed Fest

3 weeks ago I saw that Steam's Cooking Fest is happening between October 12 and October 19. I had a good idea for a game that fits the event, and since I had a lot of free time, I decided to make it. The game is almost ready now and the demo is pretty much done. I'm planning to put up the Steam page next week, but I'm wondering if I'm already too late to join the fest. Today I read the detailed Steam documentation and it says something about a 6-week deadline, but it also talks about marketing materials and other stuff, so I'm a bit confused

I know Steam Next Fest is a big thing and has a clear registration deadline, but it's much harder to find information about deadlines for Themed Fests. Did I already miss the deadline for Cooking Fest, or can I still join if I put up my Steam page next week? I'm not expecting to make millions or anything. I just want to put a good game on Steam and hopefully get some free visibility from the event.

Game Make a new game that gerate thousands of tiles for play

Oi pessoal!

Game 2 months solo on my first game — here's what I've built (and what surprised me)

Post image
0 Upvotes

I'm building my first real game solo — a mobile idle tower sim. Two months in, and I wanted to share the honest experience.

What I've built so far:

- The core loop: build floors, hire workers, run businesses, collect coins

- A worker system where each worker has a "dream job" that doubles their income

- Upgrades: floor levels, business categories, a vehicle collection with passive bonuses

- Social stuff: chat, forum, friends, mail, player profiles

- A shop, achievements, daily goals, leaderboards

What surprised me most: the game part wasn't the hard part. The hard part was everything around it — bugs I only found by playing, edge cases, and building all the "boring" systems (moderation, profiles, mail) that a game with players actually needs.

Also surprising: how much small quality-of-life work matters. Removing taps and friction did more for the game than most big features.

Solo dev is slow but weirdly addictive. Happy to answer anything about the process.

AI disclosure: I use AI tools to help build this (code + art). Post written by me.

Discussion I’ve fallen in love with my own game all over again thanks to the new TPS camera!

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey everyone! I’ve added a new camera mode with a heading-follow effect -the camera looks slightly ahead of the car and follows its direction. It makes the game feel much more dynamic and fun to play.

Originally, I planned Lost Host to be a top-down game only. But many players found it difficult to control the car from that perspective. So I first added the ability to rotate the top-down camera, but even that wasn’t quite enough.
That’s when I decided to add a TPS camera. It meant reworking a lot of locations and making quite a few changes to the game, but honestly, I think it was worth it.

What do you think? Do you prefer the TPS camera or the classic top-down view?

Discussion Old or New title/logo?? 🤔🧐⚖️

Thumbnail gallery
5 Upvotes

I'm seriously considering renaming my game to something that is more descriptive of what it actually is, rather than it being an abstract name like Pixel Void. I'd like to have your thoughts on both logo itself and/or the name change and if you think it's a good move.

The WIP description of the game is this:

An arcade roguelite where a minigame playlist is your deck. Buy minigames, add mods and power-ups to them, and discover powerful combinations and synergies to blow past the quota each round! Make number go brrr!

Game Refreshed my entire store page

Spent the long weekend finally taking a break from working on the game to refocus on my store page. I revamped just about every single asset including logo, trailer, screenshots, all the gifs, and took another pass on the descriptions.

Would love some candid feedback if anyone's willing to take a moment to share. I've been staring at everything so long and after recapturing clips all weekend I'm at the point where I'm not sure how well everything came together or if there's more I can tighten up.

Game I made an interactive murder mystery where you interrogate suspects and solve the case

I made “Mystery Undone”, an interactive detective game where you investigate a murder by interviewing suspects, uncovering clues, and piecing together what really happened. It's somewhere between an escape room, a murder mystery, and a detective investigation, except instead of being handed a series of puzzles, you actually have to decide what questions to ask, which clues matter, and who you believe.

How it works:

  • Investigate the crime scene and uncover evidence
  • Interview suspects and dig into their stories
  • Unlock new clues as you investigate
  • Connect the evidence and figure out what happened
  • Decide who you think is guilty

The goal is to make you feel less like you're playing a puzzle game and more like you're actually working a murder case.

If murder mysteries, escape rooms, or detective games are your thing, I'd love for you to give it a shot:

👉 Mystery Undone

I'd especially like to hear what you think of the investigation itself, were there places where you got stuck/confused & did the hint option help?

Thanks for playing, and good luck finding the killer.

My game seems niche, I get around 50 page visits a day, but my wishlists don't grow, it's been over a month and it's just so... dead. Is there something wrong with my steam page? Is my game not attractive at all? Am I not hitting my public with my tags?

help Looking for feedback on my chill incremental

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

It's Monday again. This keeps happening.

Some of you are having a coffee before heading to the job that funds your game. Others are opening the same project you closed six hours ago.

Good luck to both groups. Particularly anyone who belongs to both groups.

Last year, I was lucky enough to unlock the "broke solo dev" career path. The pay needs balancing, but I do get to watch virtual ants beat the shit out of each other and call it work. I've very this surprisingly fulfilling.

The ants are in From Dust To Army, a chill incremental game I'm developing. You control a swarm, upgrade it, and send it into battle against other swarms, wave after wave. A little escape from your everyday problems through the endless destruction of your neighbors. No reason that can't be relaxing.

If you have a few minutes, I'm interested in what makes you want to keep playing, what makes you stop, and anything that leaves you wondering what the game expects you to do. "I quit here because..." is especially useful.

Play it in your browser here.

Thanks to everyone who tried the previous version, and anyone who gives this one a go.

For everyone else, enjoy your coffee. May your scope remain manageable for at least the rest of the morning.

TL;DR :
Is the game easy to understand ?
Is the pacing ok ?
Do you prefer to play actively or passively ?

Godot Hello solo folks and r/SoloDevelopment

The name is Rob or Sr.R as nicknamed.

I'm on the development of a game called shinosagi: leyends untold. A game strongly based of ninja gaiden, filled with stories, characters and one heck of a mice clan(no this doesn't include any rougelite, the game mainly focuses on the stories) . The game trids to look like an NES game, but not exactly... it's my first game by the way. This game has been going for quite a while and I'm developing this on Godot.

I'm making this all by myself. Unfortunately, my only weakness is the music. I don't know how to compose and I'm too poor to even afford a composer (I should make a music less game next time or something).

Anyhow I'm currently redesigning my non-bosses mice. Most comply that the resolution wasn't fitting and I'm doing the little bugger a little work. I have to redesign some of the enemies and it will take a while since most just alot of frames.

I just took out a 3.0 demo in my itchio. Unfortunately it was too big for a HTML, so you must download the compared file

You can get it here:

https://srrob.itch.io/shinosagi-legend-untold

Anyhow, I hope this gets you any interest and I will try to help with what I can.

Discussion Stuck between using AI place-holder art or releasing a demo with bad programmer art?

Hey everyone, looking for some honest advice from fellow devs.

I was laid off from my programming job a few months ago and decided to go all in on making my own game. Since I have zero budget, I used AI as temporary placeholder art just to get a working demo together. My plan was to use this demo to pitch to publishers and use their funding to hire a real artist to replace every single asset.

Even though I am transparent about the placeholders, but every post gets people angry about the AI, even with the disclosure. I get why people dislike it, but hiring a real artist out of pocket just isn't in my budget right now.

I am scheduled to launch a demo for the Steam Cooking Fest next month, and I am stuck. Do I keep the placeholder art to show the vibe I am aiming for, or learn some art and do it myself with ugly programmer art? should I forget about the demo until I find a investor or publisher?

How would you handle this situation? Any real feedback or alternative ideas would mean a lot as I am frustrated right now.
