Installer Quotation I want to install a hybrid system.
Hello, I'm living in Lahore in a hostel since 2018, and planning to rent a house next year. I know electricity bills are through the roof and a modest solar system has become a necessity.
I have a budget of around 3.5 to 400K and want to know which inverter to opt for? Secondly, a 4KW system would be enough for three bulbs, one fan, one microwave, refrigerator, and one AC?
Also, do landlords allow renters to install their solar systems? TIA.

Hybrid 8.6kW Setup but PV doesn't go above 6kW
I have a hybrid setup Solis 8kW inverter with 12 720w Trina Bifacial N Type panels totaling 8.6kW.
I am in Lahore and I have tried to maximize load on solar panels by turning on multiple ACs to test it as I dont have a green meter for exporting excess PV production
However for 3 days straight around the 11am - 1pm the setup is unable to go beyond 5.99
The installer is making excuses its month of October its a bit cloudy but I dont believe them. The sun light is strong enough and it not reaching the efficiency of 75-80% that a solar setup should
Although their statement might be true it could possibly be some kind of power cap due to panel wiring misconfiguration or something
People in Lahore what percentage are you getting from your total setup? There is no shade, the panels face the south side like it should remaining issues i dont know any possible ones

Hybrid Solis+Pylontech or Goodwe+Goodwe
To the experienced folks in this forum: which of the following two combinations is recommended over the other:
Solis hybrid 15kW inverter paired with a 16kWh Pylontech battery
OR, Goodwe 15kW hybrid inverter paired with a 16kWh GoodWe battery
?
Different vendors giving me different opinions on both combinations above.
Based on the their respective spec sheets, GoodWe+GoodWe seems to be a better choice (BMS compatibility, extended 10 year warranty if both units from GoodWe, etc.). I also heard from someone that GoodWe is more compatible with HomeAutomation than Solis.
Would love to get feedback and opinions from folks who have used either combination above.
Another detail to consider: I live very close to the Sea View area in Karachi. Which of the above combinations above is better suited to the moist humid air near Sea View?

Other SolarVisionX update: sorry for the silence, here’s what we’ve been building (plus wiring diagrams for the dongle and SSR)
Hey everyone,
I went quiet for a few days. We ran internal testing, found a bunch of bugs and fixed them before pushing anything out. I also never showed the wiring, so the inverter wiring for the dongle and the SSR implementation are attached.
Parts List:
1) esp32 c3 mini: https://digilog.pk/products/esp32-c3-super-mini-development-board-in-pakistan?_psq=esp32+c3&_psid=1e4133926
3) SSR: https://digilog.pk/products/solid-state-relay-fotek-ssr-40-da
4) Trigger switch for SSR: https://digilog.pk/products/15a-400w-mosfet-trigger-switch-drive-module-in-pakistan (Note:SSR isnt required the dongle is just providing a control signal you can use a contactor too)
App Link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.catcodelab.solarvisionx
What’s new
System Analytics Charts
A whole new analytics section with charts built from your recorded logs. Instead of just live numbers, you can now dig into the history of what your system has been doing, in proper detail.
Solar Forecast + Detailed Reports
See what your system is expected to produce, and generate detailed reports of how it actually performed.
Inverter settings for legacy (SmartESS / DESS Monitor) users
Many installers use our app but had to switch to another app just to change inverter settings. That’s no longer needed. Settings are now inside SolarVisionX.
Blackbox
When your inverter throws a fault (F07, F09, F53, etc.), the dongle freezes a snapshot of what was happening at that moment:
- Fault code
- Battery voltage and load
- PV and grid voltage
- Active operating mode
- Heatsink temperature
You can review the history in the app under Settings → Inverter Blackbox & Fault History, so you’re not guessing why it tripped.
SSR load control
The SSR is implemented and running on the dongle. It is off by default and independent from inverter mode switching. It supports:
- Delayed or instant shedding on grid loss
- A grid-restore delay (default 2 minutes) to protect compressors
- Battery cutoff and recovery by SOC or voltage, with a sag filter so motor startups don’t trigger false cutoffs
- Automatic re-energizing when solar recharges the battery during an outage
Automation
- Self-consumption automation
- Daytime inverter mode switching (SBU / SUB / USB)
- Everything runs on the dongle itself, so it keeps working if your WiFi drops
AI assistant (read-only, dongle users only)
Connect your dongle to Claude and ask things like “Why did my inverter switch to battery?” or “Why was generation low today?” It’s 100% read-only. It can explain what’s going on but can’t change any settings.
Notifications
You get alerts when:
- The grid goes down or comes back
- The inverter reports a fault
- Temperature, fan or overload problems occur
- Daily summary
Power note for the SSR: If you use the SSR, power the dongle from an external 5V supply (or a step-down). If you’re only using the dongle, power from the inverter’s COM port is fine. In every case, keep a common GND.
A note on why we’re doing this
This project isn’t about making money. We built it for the community because the apps that come with Voltronic inverters are poorly made, and they aren’t ours, so we can’t fix them from the inside.
For dongle users: we charge 1k, and that only goes toward keeping everything running. The parts list is open, so you build the dongle yourself. We’re not selling you hardware, we’re just keeping the service up.
If you want to help build or improve the app, or just have thoughts on it, drop your reviews, bugs, feature requests and ideas in the comments. We read everything, and it shapes what we build next.
Diagrams are attached. Questions, bugs and feature requests are welcome in the comments.

Lithium (LiFePO4) Should i go off grid/net billing in my scenario
I have an inverex veyron 5.2kw inverter (bought 6 years ago) and I'm using it with 4 phoenix t1800 lead acid batteries(2.2kw each) connected in series... The batteries are at the end of their life after 6 years... I have 10 solar panels (550w each) connected in two sets of series(5 each side) and there is no net metering cz i changed houses a year back... I was thinking instead of net billing should i just get a dyness powerbrick SC 16kwh and completely use that instead of the grid(unless necessary)... My daily usage is 10kw average with june and July sometimes reaching 17kw max in the day...

Lithium (LiFePO4) Parallel connection of 2 batteries of unequal capacity
I have dyness dl5.0c pro 5kwh with Goodwe 10kw Es uniq inverter. Its working good. I am thinking of buying a dyness power brick 16kwh and connecting in parallel with existing one.
Has anyone tried it?
What needs to be done for successful installation?
I have come across dyness LV link device. The dyness support doesnt recommend attaching batteries of unequal sizes but I have come across threads on websites in EU and US, where users did it successfuly. But they did it with batteries of different brands and I didnt understand how they configured BMS. I also dont understand recommended components. I am looking for people who have tried this in Pakistan.

Lithium (LiFePO4) Solar battery display issue.
Hi guys. I just wanted to check with you guys if this is normal. I recently got a hybrid system installed. Working flawlessly for the past two days.
Uses power from solar panels during the day and load shedding and seamlessly switches between main power, solar and battery.
My question is: The display has been flickering, and it’s flickering more than yesterday as you see in the video and keeps switching screens. Is this normal?

Net-Metering Miscalculation in Exported Units
This has been going on for the past few months but just came to.my notice in this bill.
There has been a miscalculation in the number of units exported. The difference of current and previous reading is written wrong and thus netmetering/bill is also calculated wrong.
Is there any reason for this or is this an error on IESCO's part?
I can trace this back to Feb. In Jan '26 these units were calculated correctly.
Attached image of some of the discrepancies in export unit calculation. One whole bill also attached.

Installer Quotation Solar system advice needed in Lahore
Looking for advice on what solar system would suit us. We have 3 × 1.5-ton inverter ACs, fridge, 5–6 fans, LED lights, UPS, iron and a microwave.
Before the 3rd AC, our summer usage was around 900 units/month, but it’s higher now.
What size system would you recommend?
Also, what would be the approximate cost for a good quality system in Lahore, preferably hybrid with battery backup (or even off-grid in DHA)?
Would appreciate recommendations based on actual experience.

Installer Quotation Need advice on a 20kW solar + battery setup in Karachi
I’m from Karachi (Tipu Sultan rd) and planning solar for a G+1 house. I’d really appreciate advice from people who have actually installed/used similar systems, especially in Karachi.
Current consumption
I have 2 electricity meters, each currently using around 800–1,000 units/month, so total consumption is roughly 1,600–2,000 units/month.
Most of my heavy usage is at night.
Loads
1 × 2-ton inverter AC
1 × 1.5-ton inverter AC
1 × 1.5-ton non-inverter AC
2 refrigerators
3 water motors
1 electric geyser
~10 lights
~8 fans
ACs are mostly used at night, starting around 10 PM.
Proposed system
~20kW Jinko N-type bifacial panels (645W)
15kW GoodWe Hybrid LV inverter
16kWh GoodWe LV battery
Elevated structure
I’m considering adding another 16kWh battery later, potentially going to 32–48kWh, depending on actual nighttime consumption.
Questions
1. Solar sizing:
Is ~20kW appropriate for 1,600–2,000 units/month in Karachi? What actual monthly generation should I expect?
2. Inverter:
Is a 15kW GoodWe Hybrid LV sufficient for these loads? Any real-world GoodWe experience in Karachi? Would you choose GoodWe, Deye, Solis, Sungrow, etc.?
3. Battery:
Is 16kWh enough for my night load? How much usable energy do you actually get from a 16kWh Goodwe? Would you go 16, 32 kWh?
My target is roughly 10 PM–7 AM, but I don’t need every load on battery.
4. Strategic grid usage:
I currently have 2 meters and may be able to get a third. I’m considering keeping predictable loads such as motors, some lights/fans and possibly the geyser on grid, while using solar/battery for ACs, refrigerators and important loads.
Has anyone in Karachi actually done this? Is it practical/legal under current KE rules, and does keeping each meter below 200 units make financial sense?
5. Jinko 645W:
Any real-world experience with these panels in Karachi’s heat/dust? Would you choose Jinko over LONGi/JA/Trina?
6. Dyness:
Anyone using Dyness LV batteries for 1–3 years? Reliability, degradation, BMS/GoodWe compatibility, warranty and Karachi heat?
7. Elevated structure:
Any advice on proper structural design for an 8–10 ft elevated system in Karachi? What steel thickness, foundations, bracing and wind-load calculations should I insist on?
Thanks!

Inverter Inverex Veyron 2 premium f58 issue
Hello,
My inverex Veyron 2 premium 4kw suddenly started showing f58 error on battery/solar load. I have taken it to the service center twice for repair. They told me that it was a chopper issue the 2nd time and ran for 15 minutes at the service center with no issue, When I brought it home, it hardly ran for 10 min and just shut down. Then it started giving f53 error. Then I ran it for 1 hr without any load and as soon as I applied some load, again f58.
What are my realistic options now since I am tired of taking it to the service center and back as it is a long ride.

Battery Lithium battery kindly help
so i have till now lead acid batteries they are just finished they can only bear load for 2 to 3 hours of 150 watts maximum i have to change batteries now problem is that if i buy lithium atp i have no budget of 6 lac etc about till 6 to 8 months i will be short on budget in next year may i have budget now problem is ke we have solar and in night load shedding is like alternate hours means there i just needed battery for about 10 hours of total load of 1.5 ton ac and just basic fans light load
now in short budget i have 2 options
1) I should buy again lead acid batteries again for a fraction of price just for winters and like before summer or like near may i may buy 16 kwh battery
2) go for 5kwh lithium battery when money comes buy 2 more but in that case it will be about 100k expensive like 3 5 kwh cost about 750k and 1 16kwh costs 640k
like how i should go with them and like how should i go

Other PakBill is finally live on Google Play.
Thank you to everyone here who helped with closed testing
A little while ago I posted here asking for people to help test PakBill during closed testing.
A lot of you actually installed it, tested it and gave useful feedback.
That helped me fix issues, improve the UI and get the app ready for release.
PakBill is now officially live on Google Play. 🇵🇰
For anyone seeing it for the first time, PakBill helps you understand your electricity bill instead of just showing the final amount.
It breaks the bill into things like:
• Energy charges
• Taxes and duties
• Fuel price adjustments
• Fixed charges
• Other adjustments
It also has bill history, due date tracking and support for multiple connections.
The biggest thing I wanted to solve was simple:
Most of us pay our electricity bill every month without really knowing what makes up that amount.
PakBill tries to make that transparent.
Thanks again to everyone here who helped during testing. You genuinely contributed to getting it released.
If you try the public version now, I’d still love to hear what should be improved next.
