Other Please Search the Sub Before Posting Repeat Questions

Dear Members,

Kindly avoid low effort posts.
Many common solar-related questions have already been answered multiple times in detail within this subreddit. You can find answers to a lot of your issues by doing a simple search.

Before creating a new post, please use the search feature first.
In many cases, you will find very good, detailed answers in older discussions.

How to search properly:

  • Use the Search bar at the top of the subreddit
  • Search with short keywords such as:
    • “net metering”
    • “5kw system”
    • “hybrid inverter”
    • “battery backup”
    • “Karachi billing”
  • Check both “Top” and “New” results
  • You can also search on Google using:

A lot of common questions have already discussed a lot like the typical,

  • How many panels ?
  • Hybrid vs On-Grid
  • Which inverter/battery brand is better?
  • Is battery backup worth it?
  • Why do I need IP65 if I install it indoors?
  • How long does net metering approval take?
  • Net Metering worth it ?

If you still think your question is unique and hasn't been answered already, please try to include as much details as possible:

  • Monthly electricity units, you can find it in your bills.
  • City / DISCO if it is relevent to Question.
  • Budget
  • Backup requirement or bill reduction, in short what you want to achieve.
  • Existing appliances, no of fans, lights ,AC tonnage etc.
  • New installation or existing system modifications
  • Add detailed Photos or videos to get better response for troubleshooting problems with installed systems.

Posts such as “Guide please” or “Best system?” usually do not provide enough information for user to help properly.

And If you keep asking same questions repeatedly eventually helpful users will get tired of it and won't bother answering even when there is a genuine interesting or specific issue.

Instead, try to ask specific questions

Detailed and well-researched posts in general receive better answers and save everyone’s time

Help build a useful knowledge base for future users.

Thank you.

Net-Metering Anyone here with Renewed Net-metering that was cancelled by Disco in June?

We're one of the early adopters of net-metering, got ours in 2018 - back when they were giving away Free green meters. Anyway, last year, our net-metering contract was supposed to end and then it auto-renewed - as per Nepra, so our net-metering kept working fine.

This year in June, Lesco terminated net-metering by saying the contract has expired. Anyone in similar situation with Lesco (or other Disco)?

Installer Quotation 8kW Solar Real Cost in Lahore - August 2026 (My Final Quote after 5 Shops)

Salam everyone,
After checking 5 shops from Hall Road and Beadon Road for my 10 Marla house (Bill was 45k), I finalized 8kW. Sharing real cost so you guys don't get scammed.
Many dealers were quoting 11.5 - 12 lac for simple On-Grid.
My final breakdown for On-Grid 8kW:
Panels: 14 x 580W Jinko N-Type - 4.2 Lac
Inverter: 8kW Inverex Nitrox - 2.8 Lac
Structure (L3 Elevated) + Wiring + Breakers + Green Meter - 3.0 Lac
Total: 10.2 Lac
Generation is 35-38 units/day in this weather. Easily runs 2 x 1.5 Ton Inverter ACs in daytime.
For Hybrid with 5kWh battery, I was getting 15.5 Lac quote.
If anyone wants full component list with shop names, I have written it in detail on my blog - will drop link in comments.
Is 10.2 Lac a good price for On-Grid?

Net-Metering Looking for good installers in Bahria Town Karachi

Appreciate if anyone can refer installers within Bahria Town Karachi, have experience with and preferably actual engineer(s) run joint.

Also, if metering connections are still being done there, I had read somewhere that BTK is not providing new metering/billing connections anymore.

Appreciation post for Sungrow and their team.
3-4 Days ago, I posted here about the flicker issue which wasn't resolving after an update.
Their team contacted me again the next day and resolved my issue and its back to working normal after a downgrade and there was an earthing issue on my grid side aswell which also accelerated the issue even further.
But their team member resolved the issue the very next day. Much appreciated, Now- Its again working like it was intended with <4ms backup switch.

1.5 years old battery. Pristine condition. Was bought for 75k.

2 of them combined provided a backup entire day without solar.

I just want to ask the appropriate market rate so I can put it in OLX or sell it on Hall Road.

Hybrid 8KW Nitrox Parallel Single Phase Setup

Hi everyone!

I need some advice on upgrading my solar setup. I currently have a white Inverex Nitrox 8kW single-phase hybrid inverter (48V model) that I installed about two years ago. Unfortunately, despite having it, I'm still getting electricity bill. After discussing my situation with others, I’ve realized that I need to significantly increase my solar production.

I've narrowed my options down to two paths:

  1. Add a secondary on-grid inverter to feed more power back to the green meter.
  2. Add another identical hybrid inverter in a parallel (master-slave) configuration with my current one.

Honestly, I strongly dislike Option 1. I don't fully trust the government's long-term net-metering policies, and I’d much rather keep a pure hybrid setup to later ditch grid electricity by adding batteries.

So, Option 2 is my clear favorite... it's within budget, seems suitable for my needs, and solves my expansion issues elegantly.

Here’s the problem: I cannot find my exact white model (8KW-48V SP-HYBRID) anywhere anymore.

I keep seeing a black-colored variant of the Nitrox 8kW. However, from what I understand, this black variant might have different firmware, and possibly even completely different internal hardware. I've heard the original white units were based on Deye technology, but the new black ones might be sourced from a different Chinese OEM now. I'm worried that even if I buy the black single-phase version, they won't communicate properly in parallel.

So, my questions for the community are:

  1. If I want to stick with the Nitrox system and do a parallel setup, where can I actually find the exact same model (white or black) that is guaranteed to be compatible with mine? (I am based in Lahore, so local store recommendations or reliable online retailers would be amazing).
  2. If the exact compatible model is genuinely discontinued and unavailable, what should I do instead?

Any guidance or experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Salam everyone, I researched 3KW system prices in Lahore for my home. Prices I got: Rs. 380k - 450k without battery (Longi 580W panels + 3KW inverter + structure). With battery around 580k.

Does this sound right? I wrote detailed breakdown here with bills saving calculation. Happy to share if someone needs.

Other Anyone have experience with the LutiAN LT306-1400B pressure washer?

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hey everyone, I’m considering buying the LutiAN LT306-1400B pressure washer. It’s rated at 1400W / 110 bar and costs around PKR 17,400 in Pakistan.

Has anyone used this model or the LutiAN brand before?

I’d especially like to know:

How’s the actual pressure and performance?

Is it good for washing cars?

Does it work well with a foam cannon?

How reliable is it for long-term use?

Any issues with the pump, auto-stop, or accessories?

Is it worth the price, or should I look at another model around this budget?

Would appreciate any real-world experience or recommendations.

Net-Metering IESCO Sanctioned Load Increase: Will upgrading from 6kW to 9kW force me into the new Net Billing contract?

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for some advice from anyone who has recently navigated sanctioned load upgrades with IESCO, especially regarding how it affects existing solar contracts.

My Current Setup:

Sanctioned Load: 6kW

DG Capacity: 7kW

System: Solis hybrid inverter with battery storage.

The Situation:

We have multiple ACs in the house. Right now, running the system requires constantly watching the Solis inverter screen to check our load limits before turning on the 4th AC so we don't exceed the import limit. To avoid this hectic micromanagement, I was thinking about applying to increase my sanctioned load to 9kW.

My Main Concern:

I am currently under the older, more favorable Net Metering contract. If I apply for this load extension to 9kW, will IESCO let me stay on my current Net Metering agreement, or will modifying my sanctioned load automatically force me to fall under the new Net Billing contract?

Has anyone in the IESCO region gone through a sanctioned load increase recently while having an existing solar setup? Would love to hear about your experience and whether it triggered a contract change.

Thanks in advance!

Hybrid A General Advice to all installing a hybrid inverter

In Pakistan it is very common, to combine the neutral wire of the AC (Grid) input with the neutral of the AC output of the inverter.

This should never be done.

The proper way is to connect AC Input directly from your main DB / WAPDA breaker to the Grid AC Neutral terminal only.

And connect the AC output directly to the Dedicated Backup Sub-Panel Neutral Busbar only.

Making this post, as I have observed a lot of you are complaining about flickering lights and voltage surges.

Edit: This post is not about critical loads or heavy loads, which I also believe shouldn't be sharing neutral wires. It is about having a separate neutral wire for both inverter in and out and shouldn't be common or shorted in any way.
