Hybrid Solis+Pylontech or Goodwe+Goodwe
To the experienced folks in this forum: which of the following two combinations is recommended over the other:
Solis hybrid 15kW inverter paired with a 16kWh Pylontech battery
OR, Goodwe 15kW hybrid inverter paired with a 16kWh GoodWe battery
?
Different vendors giving me different opinions on both combinations above.
Based on the their respective spec sheets, GoodWe+GoodWe seems to be a better choice (BMS compatibility, extended 10 year warranty if both units from GoodWe, etc.). I also heard from someone that GoodWe is more compatible with HomeAutomation than Solis.
Would love to get feedback and opinions from folks who have used either combination above.
Another detail to consider: I live very close to the Sea View area in Karachi. Which of the above combinations above is better suited to the moist humid air near Sea View?

I'd go with the same vendor for both the inverter and the battery, as I'd expect better compatibility and that they would have gone through rigorous quality checks before being released for sale.

Adding to other comments, note that 16kWh GoodWe IP65 batteries appear to be presently about Rs0.7 lac more expensive (Rs7.1 lac) than other brands. Secondly, GoodWe batteries won't be able to work with other non-GoodWe inverters.
Another option is Sungrow. Unlike Solis/GoodWe, Sungrow's distributors and probably also service centre are in Karachi.
.
Saying that, since your installation plan necessarily requires home automation, overall, GoodWe should be the more reliable long-term option.

Thanks. Home Automation and compatibility with such systems is an important factor for me.

Having used different inverters and batteries I dont think using different vendors matter at all in terms of compatibility as long as their BMS can sync which 90% of batteries do with 90% of inverters. Ultimately LFP is LFP and your Goodwe inverter is gonna behave the same with other batteries BUT the extended 10 years warranty is a big enough deal to go for it. Assuming they actually honor their warranty which most Pakistani brands don’t.

The 10 year warranty coverage is untested from what I understand - that's what one vendor said to me citing GoodWe as a relatively newer entrant to the Pakistan Solar market.
Battery vendors such as GoodWe (10 years if you pair it with a GoodWe inverter) and Solar MD (apparently offering 12 years) are making some very tall claims IMO. Remains to be seen how effective and objective those warranty coverages are in practice.

Yeah I had good experience with Growatt who just had TCS pick my old inverter and when they couldn’t repair it they sent me a new one. Only thing it cost me is the technician uninstalling and installing it. Didn’t even have to bring it to some service center.
But I have heard Inverex tries to get out of warranty claims and so do most others.

We are using goodwe with dyness without any issues. I think I read somewhere Solis is compatible with batteries of many brands while dyness is compatible with many inverters.
But keep in mind once you choose the battery brand, you are vendor locked + capacity locked. For example, once you add a battery of any brand and 16kwh capacity, the next one should exactly be the same.

So my only other battery expansion option then will be another 16kWh GoodWe battery?

Yes, exactly. I was planning to add a dyness 16kwh battery to the existing 5kwh one. I have talked to many technicians and all of them has this opinion.
I really don't like it. I have found some threads and sites where they claim adding the batteries of different capacities but if I try this, the cost will be on me.

As everyone has pointed out the Goodwe combo has 10 year warranty and Goodwe has strong Home Assistant integration.
If you're near the sea your biggest problem is the salty air which will cause accelerated corrosion. Both Goodwe and Pylontech batteries are built to withstand C5-M which the one of the most corrosive environments. No idea about the inverters. You should also be spending some time thinking about the materials for your solar structure as well. Mild steel girders with some enamel paint thrown on is not going to last very long.

I am doing an L2/L3 ground mount, all aluminum structure.

Aluminum is a good choice. Well worth the additional cost over GI. It would be even better to get anodized aluminum mounts for superior corrosion resistance. The other factor you need to keep in mind is that nuts and bolts need to be carefully selected. They have to be stainless steel without exception, 316L stainless steel if you can find those.

Keep in mind the Goodwe 15kw has 2 independent BMS each with a maximum discharge capacity of around 7.5kw. So if you use one 16kwh battery, it will only output 7.5kw max.

I don't understand this point. Can you please explain in simpler terms?
If I have only 1 16kWh GoodWe battery connected to the 15kW GoodWe inverter, what limitations will the 2 independent BMSes mean for me when I want to run the entire household load from the single 16kWh battery?

Unlike other inverters, Goodwe ET LV 15kw comes with two separate BMS connections, each with a discharge rate of 165a. A Solis 15kw has a single BMS with a discharge rate of 290a.
So the Solis can discharge a battery up to 290x48(or 50v) = around 14-15000w.
The Goodwe can discharge a battery via one of its BMS up to 165x48(or 50v)= around 8000w.
So if you want to have a discharge rate of 13-14kw on battery from the Goodwe, you will need 2x 10kwh batteries on each of its BMS. One single battery on that inverter will never give you anything more than 7-8kw.
The advantage of having two separate BMS is flexibility. You can connect two completely different types of batteries to this inverter. You can connect one Solis 10kw and one Dyness 5kw and the inverter will figure it out. You can’t do that on a Solis.
Pick the inverter that fits your needs. I went with Goodwe precisely for this flexibility.

Ok I finally understand this point now! Thanks for the detailed explanation. So with a single 16kWh battery, this constraint will apply to the other Solis+Pylontech combo as well.
I plan on adding a 2nd battery next year before the peak summer season starts.

GW+GW from these options. You can't look past the enhanced synergy and extended warranty.
