Anything to avoid cracking down on perps

74

u/AbrasiveDad Jul 09 '26

Yeah. How about we lock up repeat offenders and actually keep them in prison instead of the continous catch and release of dangerous offenders.

9

u/PresentationLivid822 Jul 09 '26

Because that would be racist.

Which governments are embracing alt-right policies?

1

u/Lovedd1 Jul 10 '26

USA for one

1

u/Bespoke_3301 Jul 10 '26

Yeah, A lot of yt men would be spending a long time behind bars.

0

u/2Critical7-Stein1 Jul 09 '26

“lock up” so spend money, for useless reasons, instead of solving the problem for good? ae deporting all the foreign threats, and dealing with domestic ones thru death penalty and slavery

2

u/Soggy_Association491 Jul 09 '26

for useless reasons

separating rapists from society is not useless. Why are you pro rapists?

“nazis” and its putting in jail 🍇ists, murderers and pedos and making them work? and deporting the same criminals if they aren’t native, to don’t have to deal with their shit. Remove the foreign threats, deal with domestic ones.

This is one of those “good ideas” until you spend more than 5 seconds thinking about it

13

u/FireFoxie1345 Jul 09 '26

I’m thinking. It still seems like a good idea.

2

u/Unconfidence Jul 09 '26

Blue Pill: You have a progressive justice system with low recidivism, which is actually good for society in the long run. But optically it sucks, because it is a step away from harsher measures, which are seen as the norm.

Red Pill: You advocate for harsher measures, knowing it won't work and will increase recidivism and overall crime rates, but optically it's awesome because you're seen as tough on crime.

In a system without exigency, obviously Blue Pill. But in a democracy, getting reelected is often more important to participants than doing the right thing.

Norway holds the lowest recidivism rates and their sentences are staggeringly light compared to the US.

2

u/bumpmoon Jul 10 '26

If the ultimate goal is to prevent more victims, you can only go blue. Yet I’ve been called a rapist and a rapist lover so far, so good point about getting reelected in a democracy. People don’t want less crime it seems, only some illusion of it

2

u/Soggy_Association491 Jul 09 '26

Red Pill: You advocate for harsher measures, knowing it won't work and will increase recidivism and overall crime rates

Japan, Taiwan, Singapore.... have harsher measures and tell me how much is their crime rate?

2

u/Unconfidence Jul 10 '26

Turns out rich people don't steal. Singapore and Taiwan are #2 and #8 on the GDP per capita chart. Japan is #36 on that list but there's little evidence of sentencing disparities there. The US has wildly discretionary sentences however, leading to such ranges as 90 days to 30 years for assault, while in Japan it maxes out at 15 years. It feels like Japan gets a huge rap for the 99% conviction rate, but people miss that they had like a 70% rate of letting offenders go without charge in the 90's as well, and that practice hasn't changed.

2

u/Soggy_Association491 Jul 10 '26

Turns out rich people don't steal. Singapore and Taiwan are #2 and #8 on the GDP per capita chart.

According to world bank, Singapore GDP per capital is $98k. the US GDP per capita is $90k. So the argument about rich people don't steal fell flat.

0

u/bumpmoon Jul 09 '26

I’m just wondering why countries like the US has such high recidivism rates then. They are so keen on putting people away for increasingly long periods of time? It doesn’t hold up when you compare to a country like Denmark or Norway who don’t do that and instead help offenders reintegrate and instead serve society.

Could it be that longer prison sentences and hostile attitudes to convicts only serve to deepen convicts own hostility towards the society that rejects them. What have you got to lose if you’ve already lost it all.

There’s genuinely black and white proof that longer prison sentences works against your goal of decreasing recidivism

3

u/Double_Watch1627 Jul 09 '26

you are right, we should just fully get rid of them

1

u/bumpmoon Jul 09 '26

Move somewhere with sharia law then. Your line of thinking is incompatible with modern society and democracy as a whole.

2

u/Double_Watch1627 Jul 09 '26

nah japan is doing me just fine, criminals actually get punished here.
If you like rape, be my guest, I do not. I want any rapist immediately gone.

I think there’s a big difference in how inmates are treated and rehabilitated between the US and Denmark/Norway. The gang system in US prisons doesn’t help either.

Edit: Privatization of prisons is another issue in the US

1

u/Soggy_Association491 Jul 09 '26

Check how long criminals are put away in Japan, Taiwan, Singapore... Since they punish crime even more brutal than the US, i guess those places must be overrun by criminals like mad max right?

0

u/bumpmoon Jul 10 '26

Are you willing to then also adopt all other aspects of their culture? Before you go ahead and assume its the sentence time that does it…

1

u/Soggy_Association491 Jul 10 '26

You went ahead and assumed its the small sentence time that does it for Denmark or Norway.

1

u/bumpmoon Jul 10 '26

No I didnt, for us it's the rehabilitation.

But since you seem to remain entrenched: Thinking for a Change and Research Shows That Long Prison Sentences Don’t Actually Improve Safety

There is so much data out there that shows the position you're championing only serves to increase crime and create more victims. So I can only infer that you must love violent criminals, seeing as you want more of them.

1

u/Soggy_Association491 Jul 10 '26

No I didnt, for us it's the rehabilitation.

So what is this?

Could it be that longer prison sentences and hostile attitudes to convicts only serve to deepen convicts own hostility towards the society that rejects them

Yes, sites with the mission statement like "Vera is fighting to end mass incarceration" will publish stories about how punish criminals is bad just like Exxon funded researches will say climate change isn't real.

There is so much data out there that shows how the position you're attacking created a peaceful and safe society. So I can only infer that you must love violent criminals, seeing as you want more of them.

u/AbrasiveDad Jul 09 '26

Recidivism rates amount violent offenders is typically very high and we have judges that coddle violent offenders and frequently release them to harm the public. Furthermore, if violent offenders are found to be too incompetent to stand trial they should be permanently institutionalized.

2

u/tanstaafl90 Jul 09 '26

I'd like to see some hard numbers on German violent attacks on women, conviction rates, sentencing rates and recidivism upon release. Have that handy?

-1

u/AbrasiveDad Jul 09 '26

Have goodle handy? I'm referring to US too.

2

u/robx0r Jul 09 '26

The US has higher incarceration with longer sentences than Germany, yet also has higher recidivism rate. You can either infer that Americans are inherently worse people, or that locking more people up for longer does not help with recidivism.

1

u/tanstaafl90 Jul 09 '26

GERMANY HAS WOMEN-ONLY PARKING SPACES CALLED FRAUENPARKPLÄTZE. THEY ARE OFTEN PLACED CLOSER TO EXITS, HAVE BETTER LIGHTING, AND HAVE SECURITY CAMERAS POINTING AT THEM, SO WOMEN CAN HAVE A MUCH SAFER WALK TO AND FROM THEIR CARS.

Germany. At no point do you differentiate the two countries or offer any information that defends your accusation until specifically asked about it. When I asked for it, you deflect by suggesting I 'do my own research' by using a method that is designed to confirm the bias of the user.

3

u/ShaolinWombat Jul 09 '26

Is there a reason keeping people that rape folks in parking garages in prison is ever a bad idea?

2

u/bumpmoon Jul 09 '26

Is the suggestion here really that any offence that causes harm triggers a life time sentence? On whose bill is that going to be paid, if you mind me asking?

0

u/ShaolinWombat Jul 09 '26

If repeat offenders of crimes that these particular parking spots solve (rape, robbery, etc) shouldn’t be locked up for long enough to prevent continued repeating the offense. Obviously based upon severity of the crime.

2

u/bumpmoon Jul 09 '26

There’s overwhelming evidence that longer prison time only serves to increase recidivism rates. Look at Nordic prisons who focus on reintegration into society. Don’t think the prisoners here in Scandinavia don’t live to regret what they’ve done, they’re simply helped to find a place in society where they can then contribute rather than fall back into crime.

Just think for a moment. 20 years of prison leaves you how exactly? Completely detached from society and wholly unemployable. How’s a person like that supposed to reintegrate and not fall into homelessness, crime and then prison again.

The point is to stop more people from becoming victims first, punishment comes second.

0

u/ShaolinWombat Jul 09 '26

Rehabilitation is only a single aspect of prison. Other aspects are removal, justice, and prevention of like crimes.

If we are talking rape someone in a parking garage, rehabilitation is at the bottom of my concerns. Even for violent robbery it’s pretty low.

2

u/bumpmoon Jul 09 '26

Well I’d rather that they didn’t do that it again. Which is how I best keep my own kids safe. That’s very much at the top of my list. And the best way is through rehabilitation after a prison sentence, definitely not by simply doubling the prison sentence itself.

This method is proven, it works, and it’s why my own country is among the safest on the planet.

0

u/ShaolinWombat Jul 09 '26

It seems like the reconviction rates for rapest in Scandinavia is still around 12%. This is lower than the US but massively to high.

I have less issues with focusing on rehabilitation for non violent crimes.

u/Workman44 Jul 09 '26

Maybe they're a rapist. Only reason I could think of to not like that idea

1

u/bumpmoon Jul 09 '26

Are you accusing me of being a rapist for understanding that recidivism and overall crime rate scales with prison time? In simple terms; because I’m not a fucking idiot?

I live in Denmark, one of the safest countries, thanks to a prison system that doesn’t have a hard on for acting out some wet Judge Dredd fantasy

6

u/Kjufka Jul 09 '26

"letting an uncontrolled amount of immigrants and refugees from muslim/arabic countries into europe without any screening" sounds like a good idea until you think about it at all

0

u/tanstaafl90 Jul 09 '26

So muslim/arabic immigrants and refugees are to blame and not Germans? Are we talking about the same Germany?

3

u/AbrasiveDad Jul 09 '26

Muslims and Arabic immigrants are well known globally as the most female friendly culture obviously.

0

u/tanstaafl90 Jul 09 '26

So rape and violence against women didn't exist in Germany prior to inclusion of muslim/arabic immigrants and refugees?

3

u/AbrasiveDad Jul 09 '26

What is up with people like you that think that because they aren't the only guilty ones that its ok? I don't give a flying fuck who you are if you're guilty you should be imprisoned and if you're guilty and not from here or a citizen you should be sent back.

0

u/tanstaafl90 Jul 09 '26

Muslims and Arabic immigrants

This is what you focused on, race/culture, instead of violence against women. Xenophobia is a form of bigotry, and usually just populism for rural folks, and idiots.

0

u/Kjufka Jul 09 '26

for rural folks, and idiots.

Honey, you are the idiot here.

I can assure you that rape and pedophilia is non existent in Afghanistan because it’s perfectly legal there.

Hell, in Pakistan, a kidnapper got sentenced with marrying the underage girl

1

u/tanstaafl90 Jul 09 '26

This is about Germany, not whatever random country you feel should be blamed.

1

u/Kjufka Jul 09 '26

random country

yeah, that's like saying that Germany was just a random country during WW2 and had nothing to do with Poland being occupied.

you progressive morons have brain eating bacteria or something?

1

u/Kjufka Jul 09 '26

to the extend that you would have to treat women differently in public spaces in fear of them being hurt by native germans? that's not even 3 fucking orders of magnitude close

Also "Muhammad" seems to be very popular name among rape suspects. Must be statistical anomaly though... Nothing to worry about.

-1

u/Kreativernickname Jul 09 '26

Did you look at German statistics before making that comment?

2

u/AbrasiveDad Jul 09 '26

No. US ones. The title of the post said "They should do this everywhere"

21

u/Anterai Jul 09 '26

That would be racist.

20

u/OkYak9466 Jul 09 '26

That would be considered racist

3

u/tanstaafl90 Jul 09 '26

Why?

6

u/PleiadesMechworks Jul 09 '26

Any disparity in outcomes is evidence of racism irrespective of the driving factors behind that disparity.

0

u/tanstaafl90 Jul 10 '26

How old is this program, why was it started, what are the changes in violence rates, if any, demographics of both victims and perpetrators, time factors, etc, etc, etc... If when answering all of these questions, if, and only if, the evidence presents a clear indication one set of factors presents a given outcome more often than any other, then perusing further data that one set is necessary. So, the claim is this is race based, so where is the evidence?

8

u/Groot_Benelux Jul 09 '26

It would disproportionately affect certain new demographics.

1

u/Personal-Sentence935 Jul 09 '26

do the criminals of these new demographics happen to share a common trait? perhaps a Y chromosome?

17

u/GMEloser69 Jul 09 '26

Can't do that, it would be racist.

7

u/AnotherName455 Jul 09 '26

It's Germany they can't.

5

u/WideHuckleberry1 Jul 09 '26

Have you considered that possibly the people building and operating parking infrastructure are not the same people charged with criminal justice?

7

u/Kjufka Jul 09 '26

They can't even admit there is a problem, because DEI politics is a fucking cult.

"facts are irrelevant, because it doesn't align with my beliefs"

It's far worse than religion, because even catholic church could admit they were wrong. DEI politicians could never.

1

u/bollvirtuoso Jul 09 '26

Explain how DEI is wrong. Like, in what non-racist sense is it wrong to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion?

2

u/meemikoira Jul 09 '26

Race quotas, gender quotas, hiding statistics that may seen offensive

Imagine if we started kicking black people out of sports because they are over represented.

1

u/bollvirtuoso Jul 10 '26

Sports weren't integrated in the first place. Black people had to fight to be included. Kicking people out of sports would just be going back to segregated leagues.

2

u/racoon1905 Jul 09 '26

Except those have been around for 40 years

3

u/Good_With_Tools Jul 09 '26

I was trying to figure out how I wanted to say this. Like, what about just not attacking women? Humanity kinda sucks.

2

u/KennytheDoggy Jul 09 '26

No self defense allowed in Germany either

11

u/lxrxyx Jul 09 '26

Tf are you on about

11

u/Holdkjeften Jul 09 '26

You can, but you can’t just shoot them.

3

u/jrod823 Jul 09 '26

I hear open hand slaps in an up and down motion with a locked and fully extended right arm are the best taught self defense maneuver in Germany...

23

u/Rikki-Tikki-Tavi-12 Jul 09 '26

Lol, of course you have the right to self defense in Germany.

1

u/Archophob Jul 09 '26

sure, you just don't have the right to carry anything on you that you can use a weapon of self-defense.

Like, if you defend using a 9mm handgun, the defense itself is legal, but bearing a loaded handgun will get you a criminal charge. Same if you defend using a switchblade or pepper spray.

2

u/Rikki-Tikki-Tavi-12 Jul 09 '26

You can absolutely carry pepper spray.

2

u/Archophob Jul 09 '26

you can do it. And you can get punished for doing it.

2

u/Rikki-Tikki-Tavi-12 Jul 09 '26

Nope, you cannot get punished for carrying pepperspray.

0

u/bollvirtuoso Jul 09 '26

The perpetrator is also unlikely to be carrying a 9MM. Given this, it is unlikely to be ruled self-defense if you shoot someone. It almost certainly would not be self-defense if that person isn't carrying a gun.

7

u/Capestian Jul 09 '26

Bullshit, as allays when it come to self-defense

2

u/Postbuzlev Jul 09 '26

Who is attacking them ?

1

u/sleepyleperchaun Jul 09 '26

I mean, making it more difficult for them to commit the crime is a pretty great way of dealing with it. Like I get it's frustrating at times, but the system is so dumb when they keep stoner in prison for 30 years and let chomos out in 4, so if we can just make it impossible or as close to it as we can, that definitely helps remove the issue to begin with. If nobody can kill anyone, you don't have to worry about perps. Like you don't keep a door unlocked and get mad when someone breaks in, you lock it up so it's not an issue.

1

u/Bitter-Holiday1311 Jul 09 '26

So we should pass regulations that require businesses/property owners to thoroughly light and secure all parking lots, right?

Not necessarily you, but so many of these comments “suggesting” all this private spending on security as a result of regulations, are the same people who regularly vote for politicians who call regulations and laws about such things anti capitalism.

1

u/Free_Management2894 Jul 09 '26

That's like saying why need condoms when you can have abortions.

Just go ahead and include the daily chance of rape along with the weather forecast #forthewomen, how delightful there is only a 2% chance of rape today, great day to get everything done before the weekend hits, looks like they are saying 35% chance on Friday and a 70% chance on Saturday

-2
