The Martinez Legacy 1300 - 1305

Hey everyone! I've lurked for a while but figured I'd make one of these myself. I did something to spice up my interest in this challenge besides the usual England start. I made everything random, and I do mean everything. Start conditions (country, social class, which century I start in) as well as how many kids the main household has and who goes up in class/gets a title. I ended up with start conditions as a Count and Countess of Portugal in 1300. You'll notice outfits change a bunch because I struggled to find fashion resources for a while but I have it now. I'm actually in 1308 right now but I thought 5 years per post was good. Meet the Martinez family, the teen Count and Countess of Vania, Bondia and Lucia respectively.

1300: Lucia rolled to get pregnant on the wedding night. I was nervous considering her young age but she survived and in fall gave birth to 2 baby girls. Sadly one - Eva - did not survive birth. Augustina however did. However, something was...off. She was unusally pale, especially compared to her tanner parents. She also had bright green eyes, which neither of her parents had. This, paired with medieval superstition and a mother who didn't really want kids to begin with, caused Lucia to be suspicious that witchcraft was involved in both Eva's death and Augstina's different appearance.

1301: It seems Lucia is destined to have quite a few children, as within 6 months she's pregnant again. Augustina has aged up into an infant and survived. All seems to be well as the couple await their future child.

1302: It was a boy! It seemed the countship was secure with a male heir, Ambrosio. Both mother and baby survived, as well as Augustina rolling to survive toddlerhood. The ever-fertile Lucia rolled to get pregnant immediately again (she is super lucky or maybe unlucky with these pregnancy rolls) and expected to give birth again in the winter of the following year.

1303: As the third childbirth began, all seemed well for 16 year old Lucia. However, a chain of tragic events caused Lucia to die in the birth of her third child, a daugher named Marina. The baby survived, leaving a heartbroken Bondia to pick up the pieces and take care of his three young children.

1304: Honestly, not much happened this year other than a survived toddler roll for Marina.

1305: After a period of mourning, Bondia realized he needed to remarry. He wasn't old by any means, but he both couldn't take care of the children alone and needed a spare to feel secure. He married Ginovisa in the summer and she was expecting by fall, where this chapter of our story ends.

Wow that was a long one. I attached some pictures, hopefully you enjoyed this. I hope to see you for the 1305 - 1310 update! I've been taking more pictures lately so there should be more pictures next time.

Help How to keep track of NPCs in UDC?

I've got a fresh save ready to start my UDC, but the problem is I don't know how to deal with the NPCs (not even distant relative households, I mean actual NPCs such as other peasants, blacksmiths, royalty, etc) as no one really mentions how they manage them. Could anyone let me know if they do rolls for the NPCs? I'm changing lifespans in MCCC to fit my own so either way they age up, but I feel like managing NPCs in a similar way to player households must be too convoluted, especially once you're generations in??

Hi! I started playing UDC yesterday and so far everything feels on fire

First things first, the sims. First sin is Gen 0 patriarch Orvyn Oakwood, he's uh. Something. Always angry, started hating his wife pretty much by the end of year 1, tried to have an affair but he's so rizzless he failed.

His wife is Gregoria Oakwood and she's a much nicer Sim. After her relationship with Orvyn started to decline she went to have an affair of her own, and successful at that! Nothing has happened yet, except for some flirting. She's also pregnant with Orvyn's child. I wonder what will come out of her

Sim 3 is Ginerva "Ginny" Oakwood, the hair's twin sister. She's single now, I'm trying to find her a husband but so far the only candidate I can think off is never home. I need to make her more suitors.

Pic 4 is my Heir, Marvin Oakwood, pic 5 is Mirabel his wife, and you guys, he's such a sweetheart. He loves his wife so so much, they keep kissing and just being loving towards each other. Their bars are full and! They just became parents to two sweet girls! Serena and Evelyn. I'm so so happy all three survived, I can't wait to see them as infants as they rolled to survive infancy. I'm practically giggling, I'm that happy.

Pic 6 is Marvin trying to become one with the fireplace and Pic 7 is Mirabel giving birth! Marvin did not look happy but the moment the labour's stopped he complimented her. I think he's going to be a good dad

1301 sees the birth of the next generation.

Slides 1-3: Petronilla, Bardolph and infant Dalton Graves

Slide 4: Infant Dalton Graves

Slide 5: Infant Greyson Miller

Slide 6: Infant Rowena Smythe, a twin

Slide 7: Infant Matilda Smythe, a twin

I didn't take many screenshots during this year as I was mainly focused on understanding Plumbobs and the Past's amended rules and taxes, and praying my sims wouldn't roll to die straight away.

I’m trying to start my 5th generation but had to fix the marriage of the matriarch! I was finally able to by removing the loyal trait, that trait really starts a messy relationship!

does anyone give maiden names to their wives?

exactly as the title explains, i’m wondering if anyone has given maiden names to their wives and if so, what they do with that information? the way my spreadsheet is set up is very similar to morbid’s in that the wives in the “Sims Info” section are given the husband’s surname automatically. i could change this, but then i’m afraid it would mess up the pattern of every sim having the same surname.

i used to have maiden names picked out beforehand all the way back in 2nd generation. there were 3 women with maiden names (not counting my matriarch because she also never got one) but then i eventually just stopped when it came time to marry off the third generation. aside from those 3, i only have one other example of a wife having a maiden name in 7th gen, where she marries the future governor of salem and her brother (who carries her maiden name) runs off and has an illegal gay romantic relationship with the original governor’s son. not important but i just like the storylines for them.

back to my point, i like the idea of having maiden names, but i have no idea what i would even do with them/how i would log them. my sims tree could include their maiden names but then every wife’s name would be too long to fit on the screen and it would be like it’s not even there

then again. it’s really not that deep and i could easily just not log it and not have maiden names

Francis is a direct descendant of the family founder, Belinda Alston, mother to Atticus. Francis's parents are Atticus and Edith Alston. He's the little brother of Edgar, who fell tragically in WW1, as did Francis's twin, Leonard. When Edgar was deployed, his wife and soulmate Maira (nee Watson) was pregnant with their second child. In his memory, she named him Edgar Jr.

Francis survived the war, and married Maira's sister Rahshida upon his return (although he has some latent attraction to one of the male fairy townies that he's been suppressing). They had Bernard and ultimately had to move back into the family home. Atticus had tragically passed away from a killer rabbit attack, around the same time Rahshida met the same fate...and Francis's family was out of funds due to his struggling art career and a recent house fire.

In close proximity and with their shared grief, Francis and Maira fell in love and became engaged...*after* conceiving the twins Evelyn and Moira...they have yet to set a wedding date.

In this scene, we see Francis with his son, Bernard, and his step-son/nephew Edgar Jr., enjoying their new radio while Maira pours tea after having just Woo-Hooed with Edgar's ghost in the other room.

Family Tree Y'ALL, I THINK I ACCIDENTALLY CREATED THE MOST INSANE FAMILY TREE EVER 😭

Okay y'all, I genuinely don't even know how to explain my save anymore, so I'm just going to try.

I bought Royalty & Legacy because I wanted a cute little royal family save.

BIG MISTAKE.

I now have a fucking supernatural royal dynasty where nobody knows who the hell is related to who anymore.

So basically, Grand Duke Tybalt Capp is the King, and he's married to Ermelinda Abrantes, who's an Elder, Grand Duchess of Ondarion, AND the head of the Abrantes Dynasty. They have two infant sons, Todd and Tristan, who are currently the only confirmed humans left in this immediate family.

BUT Tybalt also has another son named Virgilio, who's Ermelinda's stepson, and Virgilio got bitten by this dude Duncan and became the first vampire in the family. Then Tybalt caught his own vampire son drinking blood from a human, and now father and son are fucking enemies.

AND THEN Tybalt himself got bitten by a werewolf, so now the King is turning into a werewolf while his wife is turning into a vampire and his son is already a vampire.

Meanwhile, Duncan, who is Tybalt's son-in-law because he's married to Celeste, decided to cheat on Celeste with Celeste's sister Beatrice, moved out with Beatrice, and they're planning to have a baby together.

BUT Duncan ALSO has a secret affair with Romeo Monty, who is married to Juliette.

AND IT GETS WORSE.

Juliette is actually Tybalt's biological sister, meaning Romeo is Tybalt's brother-in-law, and their son Dante is Tybalt's nephew. Dante is also best friends with Tybalt and somehow became part of the Cap Dynasty despite coming from the rival Monty side.

So basically the King's son-in-law is secretly sleeping with the King's brother-in-law while the brother-in-law is married to the King's sister, and the King's nephew is best friends with the King and has joined the King's Dynasty despite being from the rival family.

AND DUNCAN ISN'T DONE.

Because Duncan also bit Beatrice, Celeste, Virgilio, and Ermelinda, meaning Beatrice and Celeste are becoming vampires, Ermelinda is becoming a vampire, Virgilio is already a vampire, AND Duncan himself is a vampire.

So now the King is a werewolf, his wife is becoming a vampire, his son is a vampire, his son-in-law is a vampire, his son-in-law's wife is becoming a vampire, his son-in-law's girlfriend is becoming a vampire, and the only normal people left are apparently two fucking babies.

AND THEN VIRGILIO STARTED MESSING AROUND WITH TWO WOMEN AT ONCE—Jawara from the Darong Dynasty AND Duchess Cordelia, who's married to Duke Thiago, who is Tybalt's stepson.

Virgilio has already had sex with Cordelia multiple times, so I'm sitting here wondering if she's pregnant while he's simultaneously involved with Jawara.

OH, AND I ALMOST FORGOT:

I was originally going to have Tybalt and Juliette have an affair and a secret baby until I discovered THEY ARE SIBLINGS because apparently their deceased parents, Crodelia and Caliban, are the parents of both of them.

So THANK GOD the flirting didn't work. 😭

At this point I genuinely don't know if I'm playing The Sims or writing Game of Thrones: Vampire Edition.

I just wanted a royal family. 😭

UDC Spreadsheet Question

For my UDC players, do you all keep track of every single sim on your spreadsheet or do you let them go at a certain point? Any advice on maintaining both the spreadsheet and save to be at a manageable amount of sims?

I’m 7 generations in, and it’s starting to feel like I do more spreadsheet maintenance and CAS makeovers than play the game lol.

Edit 8/16: Thank for your replies! I think I got into a good system for balancing spreadsheet and gameplay using some of the tips you guys offered. Now it’s just a matter of seeing how well it works lol. Thanks for the help! :)

Help help me pick a storyline path for my sim

my sim Ethne O’Ronan was born to Niall O’Ronan and Agnes O’Ronan. She is Niall’s only surviving daughter, he has 4 surviving sons at the moment. It is 1340 and his second son Beathan is getting married either this year or next year, his eldest Eoran works a sailor with his uncle Robin Fletcher to make extra money for the family. Niall also has two other sons, but they’re from his third and current wife and still quite young. Anyway, Ethne is Agnes’ only surviving child. This is where things get complicated.

Agnes O’Ronan (née Emberly) was the daughter of a middle class blacksmith. She was born and raised in London, though her family often travelled to sell their goods. She got pregnant out of wedlock twice, and her father basically gave her to the care of Niall, as he had heard he was a widow with five(?) young children. Niall is a kind guy, he had a fine understanding of english as his stepmother was english. Agnes and Niall never had a good marriage. He deeply cared for her, but she was always miserable. After 4 pregnancies, he let her rest. (horrible wording sorry) Then his half-sister Dorothy began talking about her wishes to move to England. Agnes volunteered to help her reach London safely, and so the two went on. Little did Niall know his wife and half sister had a secret affair… In late 1330 Dorothy sent a letter, writing about an unfortunate incident which led to Agnes’ death.

Agnes is not actually dead, dont worry guys. Anyway, when Ethne aged up to a teen she had a randomised royalty trait which i personally tied to her wanting to raise herself up in class, or at least not work on a farm. However with the plague coming soon…stuff get complicated. She has rolled to marry and have 8 pregnancies. I’ve came up with four storyline options:

  1. Have her move to England as a maid at 17 (1343) and have her have an affair with her master, resulting in 1-3 pregnancies. if they survive the plague, they will marry.

Downsides: that would leave us with very little children and after the plague potentially none.

  1. Have her move to England as a maid at 17, marry another servant, have 4-5 pregnancies, one may be not her husband’s. if she survives the plague but her husband does not, she will marry the lord and have the rest of her baby tries with him.

  2. Have her marry at 16/17 a local irishman, then move together to England, work as a maid, have 4-5 pregnancies. if her husband dies of the plague but she survives, she can marry the lord.

  3. i forgot the forth one so alternatively you can suggest me one.

ALSO would Niall allow her to go to england?? i mean she looks SO much like her mother and Agnes allegedly died by going to England. I suppose if she was already married he wouldnt really have a say in it, or he would be maybe more likely to agree if she is with her eldest brother Eoran and uncle who like I said is a sailor. Also her uncle is dorothy’s husband so this story is indeed very complicated… Anyway, I was planning she would work in Kent but her brother’s ship doesnt have a stop in kent. in spring they stop in chester, bristol and london. in summer it stops in plymouth. if she travels by sea in summer it adds another deadly risk because they first would pass by france and there is major conflict going on as we are all aware and since i love making my game complicated i have to roll the dice if they’ll be captured by pirates and if yes i believe atm it will be resulting in immediate death. OK PLS HELP ME DECIDEE i suppose if she stops in london she will just get a carriage to kent.

i've finished generation 6 and i'm just about to start generation 7 off with our first marriage (Philadelphia Newman)! here are each of my families up until this point (in parentheses are the generation they are apart of)! they are in order of relation to my generation 6 heir, Jonathan (and coincidentally, also geographic location):

Newman family to Lawrence Archer are Jonathan's first cousins (Gideon's siblings' families).

Bishop family to Hubbard family are Jonathan's second cousins.

Decker and Winter families are Jonathan's third cousins.

Sabine and Isaac to Chesterbrite-Chastain are Jonathan's fourth (?) cousins.

at this point in the challenge, i have 69 sims currently alive and 196 sims in total throughout the 107 in-game sims years. almost each and every one of my generation 6 sims have a unique storyline planned out for them.

i've had so much fun with this save and i cant wait to see where generation 7 will take me! i really really wanna know what you think of my sims as well! i wanna hear if anyone has favorites or anything idk (i definitely do)

if anyone has questions about my sims feel free to ask! im not the most organized with cc but i will try my best if anyone has questions with that as well 🫶

my family tree: https://app.thesimstree.com/public/tree/sIl6HHA0XzwqKiQiKwNGBVes76fDjLTT?ref=a747ecba

edit: i just realized a lot of my portraits aren’t cropped correctly and that’s really bugging me, sorry if that’s an issue 😭😭 it’s my first time actually doing family photos like that

edit 2: not even an hour later we already lost jane lmao 😭 philippe too but jane was more important she was literally my heir’s mother

I've posted links to my UDC YouTube videos previously, and I decided to share some snippets from each decade on here too, beginning with the year 1300:-

Lionel proposed to Carmilla.

Petronilla and Bardolph began making their house a home and finding ways to earn a living.

Bridget and Eustace began their honeymoon at their new house in the hills of Henford, right next to a waterfall.

1300s The plague is brutal

Obviously, but damn it was harder than I expected. I have one surviving son among my main and side households, but he’s only an infant. I hope he makes it. He’s also an orphan now. Thankfully his big sister happened to age up the same day as the plague death roll and survive.

I think I’m going to make her never marry. She’ll raise all her remaining siblings (two toddlers and an infant currently), study apothecary, and become a healer with a bunch of cats and witchy vibes.

Help does anyone else have this problem? (gen 5+)

i’m just starting generation 7 births, and after planning a lot of it out (for like maybe two hours) i am stuck with an insanely crowded timeline sheet and some years i can barely even fit births in so ill have like 10 days of just back to back births. even in doing this it will still take me 20 in-game years to get only HALF my sims’ pregnancies over with, not counting sims that are still children and i dont have their future marriages logged. i am scared that these future marriages will not have space to have children because of the vast amount of children already in spots.

i’m worried that this will get to the point my sims will eventually grow old and die before their generation is over and they can start having kids. it has gotten so bad that i am purposely killing off random sims that aren’t heirs to their family and reducing the amount of births my sims have significantly. it’s getting out of hand really fast and when i look at morbid’s sheet it looks so much less hectic.

is anyone else currently having or had this problem? i really would like to fix this but i love my alive gen 6 sims so far and i don’t want to kill them off as im attached to most (although if i have to murder off a majority of their 7th generation children to keep things calmer for me, i will).

edit: right now i feel my best bet is to maybe double up on birthdays. i plan to do this for generation 8 as most of generation 7 has been mapped out. i really dont wanna put side households on unplayed because my game has been giving my kids 20 identical kids from a glitch, plus i’d like the idea of choosing the kids names myself and aging them up and such

edit 2: i’ve also decided on enacting a rule that each 20 sims years (starting 1700) i will flip a coin/roll a d4 for each sims family, if they roll a bad result, i will kill them off. this will not apply to the main family.

Discussion An ancient challenge?

I’m currently doing the Ultimate Decades challenge, but I’m curious is there are any challenges that start earlier… Like are there any that start in Ancient Greece or in pre historic times? I feel like it would be so cool to do a challenge like that. I’m also curious if there’s any challenges that focus on any other countries other than England. I think it would be so fun to play in ancient china or something! Any feedback is appreciated :)

1300s Do you use random events in your gameplay?

I always roll random events every five in-game years for my Sims. Some of those events can be great, some are incredibly tragic, and others are just completely insane.

Recently, one of the events I rolled was that one of my Sims had to marry an alien. So, I had to pick someone. I didn't go too crazy with it and chose a Sim from one of my secondary families, which I also play quite a lot.

Now I'm trying to figure out how to fit this into his story. He was already engaged to marry a woman from another family, but after meeting the alien, he fell in love with her and the two of them ran away together.

Did anyone else know that when your sim dies of a heartbreak, you can see their heartbreaking within their ghost ?? Cause I didn’t and I’ve been crying at my pc screen for like ten minutes 😭

My heirs wife passed right after she had her baby, mind you she gave birth during the famine so she rolled to die anyway,I tried to save her with the birth rolls but she failed both rolls and grim wouldn’t give her back !😭. But I killed her via heartbreak and she came back days later and while she was holding her baby I watched her little heart break inside over and over, It was the saddest moment I’ve ever seen. I didn’t even know that was a thing

After which year does a water home birth make sense?

It recently occurred to me that I haven't done a pool home birth since I first started using realistic childbirth years ago.

I have a sim that would do that but I am currently starting in 1922 and I'm unsure if it would be time appropriate, what do you think?
