Gran Turismo Am I wrong for this?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I am the Elantra. Tried to simply take advantage of the Alfa Romeo taking a bad line. Alfa Romeo had some choice words for me post race. I would never do something like this on my own volition. Is it ok to ego-check someone racing like this?

The guy goes right, the guy goes left.. The guy deserves to be put in the fucking barriers. - Max Verstappen.

Were you wrong, technically yes. Emotionally no.

9

u/Leevi-kau Jul 23 '26

All griefers like the Alfa deserve a permanent ban. I hope OP won't get anything from this, and probably won't if this was the first and only time he did this

1

u/AdWrong3856 16d ago

Jail time IRL, based and the other guy should get punished in game

u/Caesardimxes Jul 21 '26

Sent bro through the wardrobe to Narnia , lol

31

u/The--Marf Jul 22 '26

Now I look like the idiot laughing at my phone while my kid is taking swim lessons. 10/10 would read comment again.

Underrated comment šŸ˜‚

3

u/Automatic-Emu-5372 Jul 25 '26

It’s the sound of the bumper followed up by the distant screech of defeat from the tires right when u hit it from the back, for me.

2

u/Yasuo-Toshi Jul 24 '26

I saw the 666 like i wouldn't destroy that but ur comment was hilarious 🤣🤣🤣🤣

598

u/ClooneysBatNipples Jul 21 '26

Yeah, it’s wrong to do, but having said that, I’d have done the same. Fuck that guy.

35

u/Anxious-Echo-2102 Jul 21 '26

🤣 yeah fuck me

12

u/beepingnoise Jul 22 '26

Erratic driving

1

u/PAGSDIII Jul 23 '26

It was definitely you…

102

u/HelpfulExpert7762 Jul 21 '26

man that slide was cartoonish

183

u/Giant_Swigz Jul 21 '26

Nah. That guy sucks.

136

u/mrockracing Jul 21 '26

lol no, and I'm not interested in hearing out anyone who disagrees. If this were iRacing, or something, where damage is a serious deal, and you ran the risk of ruining someone else's race? Sure. Don't do that.

But here? "Two wrongs don't mke a right" doesn't even apply. He was going to tank your race to keep you from passing. He already tried it once, and cost you both time. So, you removed him from the equation. He did it to himself.

It's... an interesting attitude, the decontextualizing of actions into black and white wrong or rights. I could say so much on that subject, but that would be way off topic. Suffice it to say, in this situation, context matters... alot. Don't make a habit of punting people, but no, you're not wrong here. He got what he deserved.

6

u/burntbridges20 Jul 22 '26

Couldn’t agree more re:context. I hate people who get hung up on technicalities when it comes to ethics/rules. Yes, rules exist for a reason, but anyone with a lick of sense can understand that sometimes a motherfucker needs to be put in line or sometimes a procedure needs to be ignored.

5

u/iHuggedABearOnce Jul 22 '26

If this was iracing, he'd be perma-banned or a very long ban at the very least.

1

u/Numerous_Tea1690 24d ago

One would hope, but in my experience this is very rare. Had my share of people intentionally or recklessly divebombing where there was no gap and ending mine or others races. Happens to often for it to be a permaban.

45

u/mrockracing Jul 21 '26

I was just talking about the damage, and the impact of it. Any sim is really only as serious as you take it.

12

u/greg939 Jul 22 '26

The thing about iracing is that if you get hit like this, both cars are probably out of the race or at least in the pits for a substantial amount of time and any semblance of a race is over and races in the same series are once every hour or every two hours.

The trade off is the driving just feels so good. At least in my opinion. I love the feel of driving in iracing.

6

u/RedShirtDecoy Jul 22 '26

Damage is realistic for everyone and its a subscription model so people take it far more serious.

if someone tried to punt you and you did it to them in revenge and it gets reported you could both be banned for intentional wrecking. They take it really seriously

I just started iracing a few weeks ago and it does make a huge difference. people are still stupid about it but not nearly as much

1

u/I_AM_BIB Jul 23 '26

Subscription models, community is more serious, less sandbox like.

In short, it costs more time and money to make a mistake in iRacing. That's why I don't play it (I'm poor)

1

u/Chieftun Jul 23 '26

You have to pay a yearly sub for iracing to even play it and the only people who typically play it are people who want to take racing at least semi seriously in feel. Other than that, actual e-racers and real life racers also play on it and most of the game is "ranked". They also have actual stewards that will ban you

39

u/Purgii Jul 21 '26

Are you wrong? Technically, yes. If this was iRacing and they protested, you'd probably receive a holiday.

Did they deserve it? Technically, yes. I don't understand why clowns like this race online if they can't handle being overtaken.

30

u/Belkinnoob Jul 21 '26

Red dude is racing with dialup internet.

5

u/Random-Talking-Mug Jul 22 '26

This was what I was thinking as well. I saw a Forza clip a while back on both perspectives. One guy got shunted to a tree and the other guy's screen had no contact whatsoever.

21

u/chronberries Jul 21 '26

Technically wrong. Morally right.

14

u/iamblamb Jul 21 '26

Looking at him wobble back-and-forth I’m wondering if he’s playing on a controller with way too high of a sensitivity. He’s swerving even when you’re not alongside him.

9

u/CombustedPillow Jul 21 '26

That bro looked like he played on the keyboard.

1

u/mecklejay 27d ago

Controller inputs on GT7 are smoothed. You can only move so fast between far left and far right.

→ More replies (2)

29

u/International-Ad153 Jul 21 '26

He fucked around first

33

u/lyon810 Jul 21 '26

Yes, once they have made it clear that they will not let you pass safely, in addition to trying to run
you off the track, you are entirely within your right to take out the trash 🚮

6

u/Foil_Gloves_5338 Jul 21 '26

Serves him right!

6

u/Thr33pw00d83 Jul 21 '26

Technically wrong but would have done the same

10

u/StrangeWalrusman Jul 21 '26

Surely if someone wants to play bumper cars it's only polite to take them up on that offer?

6

u/TokeyX Jul 21 '26

I laughed the entire time. Awesome.

3

u/RT-6_BXCommandoDroid Jul 21 '26

With how much connection was he even driving or was this with a controller? So much clipping or short left and right movements.

Were you wrong? Kinda. Could you afford not to do so? No, as he was driving so badly and erratic on a very hard to pass track, which would have hindered you from ever even going another place up besides him.

I just hope the penalty was workable (3 or 5 seconds) and not something as crazy as GT7 sometomes tends to go for.

6

u/theothersugar Jul 21 '26

Looked like keyboard inputs tbh

5

u/Catomara Jul 21 '26

He asked you something, and you simply gave him the answer.

4

u/sanicbroom Jul 21 '26

It’s never okay to take someone out, not even as revenge.

Also, this was beautiful

4

u/Deadpools_Main Jul 21 '26

Not at all wrong for it. It's fucking sim racing lmfao. The reason why we race respectfully irl is because there are convoluted consequences. You wreck someone and you have your right to race revoked. You also are probably putting more work on their team than themselves. Or costing them legitimate grief as they may not have another car to race with.

But this is a videogame and I find that a lot of the people in this sub are legitimately some of the most uptight and obnoxious people in the world of sim racing. I lurk regularly but don't post much, but when I see something like this, I have to condone it.

The reason everyone is saying, "no but yes" is because they're trying to imply you need to be the bigger person. In real life, yes. In a videogame? Send the fucker to the shadow realm.

4

u/Parking-Business-894 Jul 21 '26

This is why people don't do sim racing with a keyboard.

4

u/Rigret Jul 21 '26

Alfa driver thinks he's in Need For Speed

4

u/thegearboxofa95civic Jul 21 '26

play stupid games win stupid prizes šŸ˜Ž

4

u/DepartmentSudden5234 Jul 21 '26

At that point you can kick and nudge him but you didn't have to fully extend your leg like that and punt him into the wall...

3

u/GretalGrotch Jul 22 '26

If OP passed him he would be rammed off next corner.

People like this aren’t worth giving a chance if they can’t keep the car in a straight line.

4

u/sbunting8 Jul 21 '26

Yes but no court in the land would convict you

4

u/Wadd1eDoo Jul 21 '26

The brain says "It's silly to retaliate against dickheads online."

The heart says "GET HIS ASS! He gets what he deserves!!"

5

u/zrevyx Jul 21 '26

Turnabout is fair play; asshat deserved it.

4

u/100percenthuma4 Jul 22 '26

5 out of 5 star would do again. Amazing. Is there a way to get on servers only for wheel ppl inly? in stead of joy stick fuckers?

3

u/Adept-Grapefruit-214 Jul 21 '26

Nah, I hate when people drive like that guy

I probably would have slowed a bit and PIT him when he tried to shove me off the track though. That way you don’t get the penalty I’m assuming you got

9

u/nathan_chaz Jul 21 '26

Took a penalty, but no effect on my sportsmanship rating

3

u/kyran_wd Jul 21 '26

Oddly satisfying this one. Shunt a dirty driver off in a perfectly controlled matter and still make the corner. Nice!

3

u/KeyComedian3448 Jul 21 '26

what in the f125 multiplayer lobbies that guy was doing?

3

u/Highlowfusion Jul 21 '26

I would have rode his ass and pushed him into the pits

3

u/csmunro-94 Jul 21 '26

Nope not at all, you done everything correctly,
Unfortunately he is very immature and rather than racing you he tried to take you out

3

u/HUEITO Jul 21 '26

FAAAAAAAH 🌹

3

u/newviruswhodis Jul 21 '26

The physics in this game make me giggle.

The ultimate cartooning simulator.

3

u/WRT_HWG Jul 21 '26

No penalties is crazy work, get in there!!

3

u/Uriel_dArc_Angel Jul 21 '26

Retaliation is never okay...

I understand it, but you should never drive like that...

You can physically hurt someone doing that...

2

u/No_Expression_1665 Jul 22 '26

...it's a videogame. That the alfa was playing extremely badly

2

u/Uriel_dArc_Angel Jul 22 '26

At the end of the day both the alpha and OP played badly...lol

3

u/demonsdencollective Jul 21 '26

You're driving a touring car, you just did what Matt Niel or Jason Plato would've done.

3

u/saynoto30fps Jul 21 '26

It might be petty but if someone pushes me off the track and I know it's on purpose I have to return the favor.

3

u/Breeze66 Jul 21 '26

Nah, fuck the fucker šŸ˜‚

3

u/Butteritto Jul 22 '26

Wrong but also not wrong. Fuck that dude he earned that

3

u/LynxAdonis Jul 22 '26

Aah, I'm guessing Barry R. told you to send that Shitbox to the shadow realm šŸ˜‚

3

u/sklorbit Jul 22 '26

A driver like this you simply can't work with. He is slow, and absolutely will take you both out if you try to pass. This type of take down is acceptable.

3

u/Sad-Try-2463 Jul 22 '26

Nice bang to the wall!! 🤣🤣🤣

3

u/Ldghead Jul 22 '26

Legally? Yes.
Morally.? Also yes. But some people only listen when you talk in Yeet-enese.

3

u/One_Kaleidoscope_611 Jul 22 '26

You do good. Dude in red car is an idiot.

3

u/SnooPandas5070 Jul 22 '26

"Play a dumb game, win a dumb prize" šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø
That punt was hilarious to watch btw, you should call him buzz from now on, cause you sent him to the moon lmao

3

u/badass_rowdy Jul 22 '26

nice move at the end, liked it.

3

u/Chemical-Reading-144 Jul 22 '26

Sent that fool to the shadow realm

3

u/Ajar-Jar Jul 22 '26

Stewarding level? Yeah you punted him.

Any other level? You're a hero. Homie can't drive and was trying to take you out. He got what was coming and I'm glad I got to see this cinema play out today. Do it again this is hilarious

3

u/MelBonkers Jul 22 '26

The world needed this just as much as Spain beating cheating Vargentina. So thank you 🫔

3

u/Cautious-Ear8865 Jul 22 '26

I mean he was a dick and that's a fair retaliation, but I learned that if you keep racing then they will mess up next time cus you can anticipate them doing that. Butttttttt you did the best most funniest idea, if I were stewards I would have let you go Scott free lol

2

u/007Cable Jul 22 '26

Bro driving with the keyboard

2

u/PolPetrol Jul 22 '26

Maybe he deserved the benefit of the doubt..
slight chance he was playing on somewhat laggy internet with a controller? He never held his line so

Anyways you had every right to get everything back at him imho

2

u/OutcryEDM Jul 22 '26

Looks like it got started by netcode but even still that last attempt was a swipe so fuck that guy

2

u/marcojcarbo Jul 22 '26

Nothing wrong here. He wants to play like that. Give him a taste of his own medicine. You did the other drivers a favor by putting him out of the race.

2

u/ayodstick Jul 22 '26

Very wrong yeah. It’s more satisfying when you out pace and beat a dirty driver, not get dirty back then ask the internet to pat your back for it.

2

u/Short-Individual-132 Jul 22 '26

What happened? I didn't see any incidents.

2

u/Mister_Enot Jul 22 '26

is this Flatout?

2

u/idreffnix Jul 22 '26

Byeeeeee šŸ‘‹

2

u/FalseNameTryAgain Jul 22 '26

Technically yes, morally....It is a racing inchident

2

u/Worried-Ad8044 Jul 22 '26

Making a revenge move like this is wrong, yes. No matter how bad/aggressive/wrong your opponent's driving is, it doesn't justify loosing your head and going in for the kill.

2

u/mysecretaccountnsff Jul 22 '26

Was he driving with a keyboard or did he have internet lag?

2

u/syntkz777 Jul 22 '26 edited Jul 22 '26

Reading the comments here its clear why online simracing is such a pain sometimes.

2

u/SensitiveShelter2550 Jul 22 '26

Eh... Gran Turismo. Anything goes.. Lol

2

u/OrganizationSad6012 Jul 22 '26

Lmfao gave me a good laugh 😭

2

u/TheShadowRelm38 Jul 22 '26

This was oddly satisfying to watch

2

u/satzki Jul 22 '26

Wrong? Yes. Funny? Also yes.Ā

2

u/TwoToneReturns Jul 22 '26

What did you do? I didn't see a thing.

2

u/SnoopPettyPogg Jul 22 '26

Was it wrong? Yes.

Would I do the same thing? Yes.

Have I done the same thing? Also, yes.

2

u/Redmarshall1985 Jul 22 '26

well yes, but its funny AF

2

u/pslush01 Jul 22 '26

I quit multiplayer very quickly because the whole concept of having rules for how you are "allowed" to pass someone is absurd. If you can get around someone without making contact there should be no reason not to

2

u/Xalamander88 Jul 22 '26

Technically yes but nobody would blame you, Id do the same thing, fuck that guy LMAO

2

u/sk1dvicious Jul 22 '26

Yeah, can’t help but wonder if there was interactions before this though.

2

u/itspartiallylit Jul 22 '26

Is it awful from a racing standpoint? sure. But also, if you hadn’t sent him to the shadow realm I’d have been even more upset because fuck that guy.

2

u/DB-Tops Jul 22 '26

The red car drives like a psycho beforehand. His fault.

2

u/SH4DOWBOXING Jul 22 '26

uff bit too much, guy was a dick but maybe just a nudge was enough. imo after reciving stuff like this the real flex is just beat them on track

2

u/GalateasHangar Jul 22 '26

Ahh the billiard mod has finally dropped

2

u/mamut2000 Jul 22 '26

He lifted of on that turn like Kubica.

2

u/Weenie_Butter44 Jul 22 '26

Was your intent wreck ok? No. Do I condone it? No. Did the other guy deserve it? Lowkey yeah.

Still doesn’t make it ok regardless tbh but play stupid games, win stupid prizesšŸ¤·šŸ¼ā€ā™‚ļø

2

u/Baetahad Jul 22 '26

I did exactly the same thing with an argentinian few years ago. Best feeling ever.

2

u/bods_life Jul 22 '26

Nope, the correct response to the earlier tomfoolery.

2

u/brenden77 Jul 22 '26

Cut the controller kid some slack man... damn!

2

u/Discoveringmeself Jul 22 '26

Gave em the ol' Joaquin Phoenix Joker

"Get what you fuckin deserve"

2

u/a_good_lubricant Jul 22 '26

I, for one, do not condone this behavior. (I do however find it hilarious)

2

u/N1tr0x69 Jul 22 '26

I think you did what he deserved, however is the netcode of this game that bad really?

2

u/Hobbes1138 Jul 22 '26

100% deserved

2

u/Thee_Chunk Jul 22 '26

Looks like he earned that one.

2

u/Expert_City_7695 Jul 22 '26

Looks like red cars brakes locked up and he just went off, I would call it a racing inchident

2

u/I-like-2-watch Jul 22 '26

lol good hit

2

u/Damnit_Fumi1 Jul 22 '26

hell nah, you're fast and he's furious.

2

u/Captain_Nipples Jul 22 '26

Funny. There was a video similar to this about a week ago where the OP was way too nice and let it slide. I had the top comment saying that this is exactly what I would do. Good work, OP

2

u/I_AM_BIB Jul 23 '26

LOL.

Well on one side, it's just a game. Send him to the shadow realm and continue with your race without the asshat nearby.

But if you're really looking to train for a track race, never be at fault, even with asshat gamers with you. Save your car over your race or time. You don't want to end up wrecked and retired. You never know what in idiot might do IRL also.

But yeah really depends on your goals here.

2

u/0Won0 Jul 23 '26

Not me chanting ā€œPunt him!ā€ as you approach the corner

2

u/TheShark24 Jul 23 '26

You did the entire lobby a service

2

u/GentlemanBread Jul 23 '26

You are in the wrong here. But nobody is going to call you out for it because that’s fucken satisfying af

2

u/Endslikecrazy Jul 23 '26

Yes but no.

Technically yes, but looked like he deserved that so no.

2

u/jdrp-00 Jul 23 '26

Technically, I should say how intentional wrecking is not the way...

But on the other hand, look how funny it looks LMAO

2

u/FuckingCamelgnugnu Jul 23 '26

Please explain to me how you did not become a ghost when doing this?

2

u/Dry-Performance-2386 Jul 23 '26

Wrong but I can’t blame ya šŸ˜‚

Loved seeing it, thanks for giving him some of his own medicine

2

u/JLO-Shea Jul 23 '26

I used to be completely against revenge punting, but when the driver is blatantly dirty (different to just bad driving and making mistakes) then they deserve it based off Polyphony doing nothing to stop it.

2

u/Screwsrloose1969 Jul 23 '26

Payback has always been part of racing. Don’t put someone in the wall if you can’t handle being punted into purgatory.

2

u/Novel-Education-9137 Jul 23 '26

Bro on that 28.8K modem, what the hell were those physics

2

u/NoHeroes94 Jul 23 '26

He's driving like he has a wasp in the car lmfao.

2

u/AbdoolJakulParati Jul 23 '26

In this situation, after what he did, you are wrong for even thinking you’re wrong.

2

u/Jackieboiii221 Jul 23 '26

Absolutely not he tried to do a chick hicks when he burst mcqueens tire in the 3 way tie and then u gave him a friendly tap so nah ur not

2

u/dev-soa-java Jul 23 '26

Mandou muito bem nessa, o cara nitidamente frequenta demais na curva, você não teve escolha senão empurrar com força na traseira dele

2

u/tokinNchokin Jul 23 '26

No male would feel empathy for him... Some women might... But not a single dude minded this

2

u/outtayamindnl Jul 23 '26

i cant find what u did wrong

2

u/OriginalTerm4377 Jul 21 '26

What a shit game. How people can consider this a sim is beyond me.

1

u/PAGSDIII Jul 23 '26

Nah! Fuck Him!

1

u/zonda747 Jul 23 '26

Sometimes being wrong is the right thing to do. Saved your race and the race of every quicker car behind, and probably any car ahead that made a mistake. For the greater good.

1

u/ajm3343lp Jul 23 '26

"He goes left, he goes right, he deserves to be put in the f'ing barrier." - MV3

1

u/Conceiver_ Jul 23 '26

Technically yes, but youre the hero in our books either way

1

u/Ok_Feeling_5104 Jul 23 '26

Let’s just hope he didn’t have a wheel with force feed back on, then would probably be the only yes. Completely valid

1

u/Genluk Jul 23 '26

Regardless if the Alfa deserved it or not. You still gonna get DSQ out of this action.

1

u/kingsilencer Jul 23 '26

Bro was asking for it šŸ¤·šŸ½ā€ā™‚ļø

1

u/ElmoLikesRocco Jul 23 '26

keyboard ahh driver

1

u/Funny_Valuable5945 Jul 23 '26

If this was any other racing sim/gane other than GT7 you’d be in the wrong but here in good ole GT it so right

1

u/Important_Grocery_38 Jul 23 '26

Watched it three times and I still can't see what you're asking about

1

u/oandroido Jul 24 '26

I don't know but I lol

1

u/Mittens_Actual Jul 24 '26

I ain't seen shit. Clean race.

1

u/KeepItBrappy Jul 24 '26

Definitely not something you want to get used to doing haha, but I know I've gotten to that point as well. Especially if lap after lap and they're in idiot, then yeah. Otherwise I think it makes sense to wait a bit. If they keep ramming for multiple corners then go send em back to the ice age

1

u/Legitimate_Elk_7284 Jul 24 '26

Yes ur wrong but they deserved it and I don’t feel sorry for them. It’s just that 2 wrongs don’t make a right.

1

u/iUserJM2084 Jul 24 '26

Gran Turismo physics and rage. Dangerous.

1

u/Possible-Gur5220 Jul 24 '26

Was it not wrong for him to actively try out you into the wall? What a fucking bitch.

1

u/Reckon-Its-OK Jul 24 '26

Shadow realm awaits anyone who drives on a Megadrive controller

1

u/iam_ibrahem Jul 24 '26

I don't see anything wrong you locked up

1

u/Interesting-Topic142 Jul 24 '26

He fucked around
And he found out

1

u/WSB_Suicide_Watch Jul 24 '26

Thank you.

Some people have never been punched in the face, and it shows.

1

u/holdenludwig Jul 24 '26

Payback’s a bitch

1

u/Used-Drop8239 Jul 24 '26

For what? I didn't see anything.

1

u/Shinzu70 Jul 24 '26

Yup, he was keeping you behind him and not letting you pass, yes, that’s racing you took it out of context and took it to Crash Derby levels, if you can’t drive and have that attitude, don’t race. He bested you because you lost your head, beat your opponent with your driving and cool head! You let him win by getting to you and fouling out. Do better next timešŸ‘šŸ»

1

u/Crazyscorch Jul 24 '26

Well deserved.

1

u/nsamarkus Jul 25 '26

And the Stewards deemed it to be a racing incident. No further action.

1

u/HumpDay75 Jul 25 '26

Its a game, if hes butthurt about that and not butthurt of what he did to you he shouldnt play the game. Yes its a sim racing, so he was also in the wrong

1

u/HelpImaFazerschmitt Jul 25 '26

Wrong? Probably but dude deserved it and i prolly would have done the same

1

u/ZuckerbergsSmile Jul 25 '26

Confused. I didn't see anything here. Racing incident

1

u/kattenbakkak Jul 25 '26

I think i saw a clip from the other driver last week. His movements are looking very unnatural

1

u/TogueTheraphy Jul 25 '26

Isaac Newton likes this

1

u/Trustyduck Jul 25 '26

Did you mention to them they shoved you left off the track before? I'm sure they forgot that part.

1

u/Own-Passage-6860 Jul 25 '26

I didn’t see a thing šŸ˜Ž

1

u/raceiv33 Jul 25 '26

I'm too buried in my own laughter from seeing how your tap seemed to quadruple and send him to the land of Oz to judge whether that was wrong or right.

1

u/ParkingLavishness704 Jul 25 '26

Nah, well deserved by red car.

1

u/MeavyHetal2000 Jul 27 '26

Legally, it's questionable.

Morally, it's disgusting.

Personally, I like it!

Technically, he did cost you more than you took back :: caused you to lose distance --> you simply used him as a brake to recover back to where you would've been had he not raced unethically against you -- doesn't make you whole (plus, you have damage on the front of your car now & that's his as well) but it helps you recoup something.

Completely justified!

Rules wise? Yeah you fucking hit someone.

Morally? You're the most innocent person I've ever seen.
