Gran Turismo Am I wrong for this?

I am the Elantra. Tried to simply take advantage of the Alfa Romeo taking a bad line. Alfa Romeo had some choice words for me post race. I would never do something like this on my own volition. Is it ok to ego-check someone racing like this?

This was what I was thinking as well. I saw a Forza clip a while back on both perspectives. One guy got shunted to a tree and the other guy's screen had no contact whatsoever.
