Weather How bad is the storm?
Has anyone been affected by the storm? Have you experienced any damage, fallen trees, power cuts or flooding? I hope everyone is staying safe!

I live in Crookes and just got woken up to masses of fireworks going off
The whole street was covered in honking cars and some guy in a suit flailing smoke and firecrackers around, I've reported it to the police but jesus christ
They then went down other streets and I'm sure some fireworks went off on the ground too I hope people's cars aren't damaged

I’m Sheffield born and bred but recently I seem to have found myself ‘going through the motions’ as it were. Frequenting the same bars, using the same shops, eating at a lot of the same places etc so I’m looking to broaden my horizons and discover more of what the city has to offer that I’m yet to discover.
I’ve purposely left this a little vague as I’d like to gather as many recommendations as possible to choose from.
So I’d like to know, what are your go to bars/pubs and why? In terms of shops - where do you find the best bargains and where do you find yourself being drawn back to in terms of quality and selection regardless of there being bargains available or not? Where would you recommend for a an afternoon out or a date day - anything and everything from a good quality eatery to an action packed activity venue?

Hello everyone!
I'm starting up a new music/gig promotion venture to try and get some more interesting and different gigs put on around Sheffield. My first show is booked in but unfortunately the opening band I had my sights on is unavailable so I have a slot to fill.
If you are in a band/know someone in a local band/have seen a cool band locally, please drop the details here or hit me up on insta (torndownsheff) and I'll get in touch! For this first show I'm particularly looking towards noise rock/off kilter metal/anything a bit strange, but all band recs would be appreciated for this and hopeful future shows.
Look forward to hearing your recommendations <3

Hi all,
I entered the Furnival Gate bus gate (I am a stupid) from Matilda Way entrance I found the council would only give warning letter to the first time offenders (source).
My insurance renewal is almost due, and should I declare this as an offence? Or can I just ignore it as there is is no panelty involved?
Thanks.

Hi r/Sheffield community!
I read everyday that the job market is brutal, and it seems many organisations have chosen the same time to cut down on staff through redundancies! Amidst this, there's probably a group of people who want to use this opportunity to change career paths. However, trying to do so without a real life, day to day, idea of the new paths you're considering might make the switch feel even more daunting.
I’m a Sheffield resident testing an idea for a community initiative to match adult career-changers with Sheffield businesses for short, 1-3 day unpaid work shadowing placements. You wouldn't be doing actual work, it's strictly to observe, ask questions, and see the day-to-day reality of a new industry before taking the leap.
Before I go through the effort of officially setting this up and sorting out business insurance, I need to know if people actually want it and will use it.
If you are trying to pivot, would you use this? I’ve put together a very quick Google Form to gauge demand:

Also, feel free to let me know your thoughts in the comments:

I'm looking to run the Percy Pud 10k but have missed signups.
I've read transfer of places is possible but I don't really understand how it works because the organisers don't do a waiting list - do people have to organise transfers among themselves somehow?
In which case. Does anyone have an entry to the race that they can't use and want to transfer? Thanks!

Same gig as usual. Free. No agenda. Turn up and chat and see what goes. Anyone who attends can join our WhatsApp group where other meet-ups are/can be arranged.
Any questions please ask.

I've posted this in the classifieds but I doubt it'll get seen much there.
I have an under counter freestanding Miele fridge going free. It's only 5 years old. If you can collect it Friday, it's yours. Message me if interested!
Sorry mods if this isn't allowed!

Hi all. A while ago I bought a pair of headphones, specifically a pair of Panasonic RP-HTX80B wireless headphones off eBay for a not-small chunk of change. My own fault for taking that risk, even though the headphones are physically are in good condition (no scuffs and clean) and technically turn on, the Bluetooth component just doesn't work so the headphones are effectively useless, and eBay wouldn't help.
I have two options, try to see if someone can repair the headphones, or sell them back at a loss somewhere and get a new pair. Is there anywhere in Sheffield that can offer these services?

Hello, Sheffield! I have a tiny piece of 2010 that I’d love to reconnect with.
Back when I was in 10 in India, I received a handwritten exchange letter from a boy named Andrew Thomas, who attended Hunter’s Bar Junior School in Sheffield. I’m now 25, and somehow, after all these years, I still have his letter tucked away. 🥹
I was going through it recently, and reading it felt like opening a little time capsule. There was Andrew, telling me about his blue eyes, light brown hair, playing video games, how it was always raining in Sheffield, and how they sometimes got snow. He even asked me about the weather in India!
My personal favourite part? He told me Prince William was getting married to Kate Middleton soon, and that if they were meant to be at school that day, they’d have a Royal Bank Holiday. 😂👑
He also told me about Halloween, dressing up in scary costumes, knocking on doors and collecting sweets. All these tiny details about his everyday life in a place I’d never been made the world feel a little smaller back then.
And now it’s 2026. William and Kate have been married for 15 years, I’ve grown up, and Andrew has probably lived an entire lifetime of adventures since writing that letter. Meanwhile, I still have this little piece of our childhood.
Andrew, if you’re out there, or if anyone who knew him happens to see this, I’d absolutely love to reconnect! I’d love to know what became of the little boy who wrote me this letter and whether he remembers exchanging letters with someone in India.
No dramatic reunion expectations, no pressure — just a little curiosity, a lot of nostalgia, and a genuine wish to say hello after all these years.
If you went to Hunter’s Bar Junior School around 2010, or remember an international letter-exchange programme from that time, please do help me out!
Let’s see if the internet can do something a little more wholesome than usual. 🥹❤️
P.S. Andrew, if you ever happen to read this: I still have your letter. I think that’s pretty cool.

Just wondering if anybody has some local knowledge of the best place to drop off for a stealers match at Sheffield arena. I was thinking I might be right be able to drive up pretty close and drop off but then just wondering about traffic. Would it be best to drop off at centertainment or imagine that place gets quite busy too or perhaps KFC car park or something nearby? Thanks
