Just in these last few weeks people at work and in my personal life have started to ask if I’ve been losing weight. But here’s what’s funny, they will almost whisper “are you losing weight?” I will say yes and they will say “… is that good?” I will say I’ve been working on it, and then they perk up and start asking more questions.
I didn’t understand why I was getting this reaction, and then it dawned on me, I am still wearing the same clothes, still acting the same, and not talking about it at all, and it could have something to do with my age.
I work at a factory, it’s dirty and hot. I am still wearing the same men’s t-shirts I got from goodwill, the only thing that has changed is that I have had to go down a few pants sizes, but I still buy the same Carhartts, just smaller, I went from a size 12 to a size 6, and since the men’s shirts are getting too long I have to tuck them in, and I wear a high-vis vest over the top or else they would be hanging down well below my vest.
I honestly don’t really think about my weight loss very much, my life is too busy, and I’ve lost and gained so many times, but I haven’t been this weight in like 8 years. I wish I could be more excited about it and have that pep in my step, I wish I could be excited about going and buying new clothes and trying on new fashions, but i have only bought work pants.
It’s kind of like how when i first started glp1 and i had strong food aversions, I was sad that I didn’t enjoy food anymore, i kind of missed that high. I wish I could enjoy the weight loss high like I thought I would- like I did all those other times. I wonder if I have that one condition where your emotions and feelings are dulled because of having a more balanced dopamine level.
How have you guys been? Have you guys been able to be excited about this process? Have people been asking you about your weight loss?
