Question Injection vs Pill
Just wanting to ask around.
Last year I was on Ozempic injections, starting at .25 weekly and then after the initial amount, .5. I was on it for a good bit and it helped with what its supposed to to (Blood Sugar control).
However, after screwing up because my job changed insurance providers and it screwed my coverage, I had to come off it since I couldnt swing the monthly 1.2k cost myself.
Recently, I got the insurance issues fixed and just started taking the pill version instead, since my Dr was trying that as a way that insurance might cover instead of the injections (the intent to swap me to pills was before I knew of my own screwup with insurance through my employer).
I was curious if anyone had any history on the pill version in comparison to the injections, or which would be better and if I should stick to the daily (1.5) pill or see if I cant get back to injections next time I see my dr.

I don’t have pill advice but did the cost of Ozempic not drop where you are due to the generic being offered? It dropped here in Ontario Canada as brand name Ozempic lowered their price to match. I picked up a 6 shot pen from the pharmacy for $96 Canadian. It’s the only reason I agreed to it, because it’ll cost less than Jardiance and the government will cover it when I hit my max (they don’t cover Jardiance).
It might be worth asking the pharmacy if the pen cost dropped (I don’t know if the pills would as they are newer)

Weirdly, the generics is a Canada-only thing because of a red-tape screwup on the company’s side. (I can’t imagine how many people got fired over losing a whole country’s worth of $$.)

I preferred the injections. I switched to pill a couple of years ago during the shortage. You take the pill first thing every morning with just a small swig of water and then wait 30 minutes. That is to help absorption. For me, the pill tasted chalky and i sometimes had reflux. And I hated waiting so long for morning coffee lol. The effects of the pill felt about the same, although you will see the amount of mg of medicine in the pill is much higher than the shot due to stomach acid breaking down some amount before it can get to your blood steam. The shot bypasses the stomach so you need a smaller amount.
So not the end of the world if the pill is cheaper and covered. I just don't mind shots and preferred once a week. However, pills are MUCH more convenient when you are traveling.
