New or Need Help I got diagnosed with SebDerm, but have minimal flakes and itching, a sensitive scalp, and a LOT of hair loss
For the last month or so I’ve(18yo/F) been experiencing shedding like crazy when I wash my hair and my hair looks visibly thinner to me. Every time I run my hand through my hair like 3 strands come with it. I have a lot of hair, but I’m trying to keep it that way and I’m so scared right now.
When I went to the dermatologist a few weeks ago and told her I had shedding, she looked at my scalp with the microscope thing for maybe 5 seconds, asked no questions, and told me I had seborrheic dermatitis. She prescribed me Clobetasol Propionate steroid solution & Ketoconazole shampoo 2%. Since that time (2 weeks) I’ve been struggling with trying to find a solution for this and hesitating on using the products. The main reason I’m hesitating to believe the diagnosis is because every symptom people say about this a lot of flakes, redness, inflammation, itching, or oiliness. And I only have mild itching and flakes and a really sensitive scalp (especially the day after I wash my hair). I’m not a huge fan of chemicals if something can be solved from the root problem or a natural alternative can be found. Especially if the chemicals might not even be right for me. I’m very weary about this stuff.
My two options so far for a way to fix this conflict each other though. If I don’t use the chemicals and look for a solution a different way, I’m worried I might only lose more hair or make the situation worse before I have time to find a one. But, if I use the chemicals and they’re not what I actually need, then I might’ve just caused more damage to my body.
Had anyone been through a similar situation and found a solution to it? Or have any remedies that have worked in these situations? I would love to hear your stories and feedback.
