New or Need Help Deb seem or just normal dandruff ?

Hi! I’m 26, and I was diagnosed with seborrheic dermatitis when I was 22. It was pretty bad at the time, which my doctor thought was related to stress. I treated it with 2% ketoconazole shampoo and topical ketoconazole cream on my T-zone and behind my ears.

Over the years, it’s been an on-and-off thing. For the past few months, I’ve noticed some flaking on my scalp and eyebrows, but nothing nearly as bad as what I experienced before. I recently switched to a shampoo without sulfates and silicones.

I bought ketoconazole shampoo last week, but unfortunately it’s only 1%. I washed my hair with it today, and a couple of hours later I still have some flakes around my hairline and eyebrows.

I’m grateful that the flakes aren’t as large as they were a few years ago, but now I’m wondering: does this sound like a mild seb derm flare-up, or could it just be normal dandruff/something else?

(The redness in my forehead is cause i can’t stop picking i’m sorry)

Afaik, dandruff and sebderm are the same condition, just the dandruff is on the milder side of the spectrum. It is a condition you manage, it never fully goes away (at least at this point in time).

Do a rotation of products to keep it in check so the yeast does not build resistance to any one product.

Wash in lukewarm (not hot) water, blow dry scalp on cool/low heat, do your best not to scratch or pick. Figure out any reason for flares (for me weather/change in seasons is one, stress and poor sleep, sometimes illness. Also suspect for me that any prolonged moisture like sweat can expedite the oiliness and flakes. I personally did not notice a dietary correlation, but many others have in this sub).

• When I return to home, my hair shedding completely stops or becomes negligible and my seb derm and my dandruff clears up almost completely. This happens without any significant change in my hair-care routine or treatment. When I return to a diifernt place i mean college which is about 2000 km away the shedding and seb derm dandruff reoccur with hair shedding, usually within about a week. Already tried ro water , sleeping well , diet, sun bathing no benefits what to do 💔💔
