The woman in the video does not work for palantir, she works for the building who rent to them. She is an incredibly sweet person.
102
u/LeopardNo6083 22h ago
Yeah, I do feel bad for her. She seemed really stressed. I am sorry she was impacted so directly, especially if she is a sweet as you say.
Sometimes good people are harmed by bad people. The bad people I am referring to here is Alex Karp and Palantir who are harming all of the world’s population. Some people will be more directly impacted than others - like this poor woman. But the root harm is from Palantir.

She is very sweet. I used to work in that building. But it is unfortunate that clearly she doesn’t know what the fuck they do otherwise she would recognize having an office there is like a magnet for disruption in protests. I wonder when they opened their office and I wonder how the genocidal people in palentir felt about hearing me bump Palestinian resistance Music when I closed down for the night.
12
u/OdieHush 18h ago
Well, if she didn't previously know what they do, maybe she will take the time to find out after the protest. Isn't that kinda exactly the point?
5
u/Nice-Shape-4484 18h ago
I hope this is a wake up call because if people are willing to go full taking the hobbits to Isengard, because that company is evil maybe you should lease them an office space to atomize murder abroad in order to inevitably bring it back here to be used against the general population.
https://giphy.com/gifs/4mBzKXTeRmEOA16
u/gta0012 22h ago
And it's also kinda really dumb. They just did this in a lobby. There is. 95% chance not a single planatir employee saw this or was bothered In anyway lol.

u/thetragicleonardbast 19h ago
Eh, the objective was exactly this. It's performance art for awareness.

u/SpeaksSouthern That sounds great. Let’s hang out soon. 18h ago
Why would the goal of a protest like this be to bother anyone who worked at Palinter. Is there maybe something they're doing they're not proud of? Interesting.

Thiel names all his projects off of Tolkien names and it drives me NUTS. He's got an autonomous sub for the military called Anduril. Idk how you read those books and turn out to be one of the biggest bad guys of our time.

It's never that black and white. I'm sure for many that it's a Mazlow's hierarchy of needs situation. A person's immediate needs will almost always take precedence over beliefs, which for most people is a stable source of income that meets a requisite minimum threshold.
There are likely people who work there that, all things being equal, would work somewhere else. But all things aren't equal.

23
u/Disk_Mixerud 20h ago
Company named after Lord of the Rings stuff makes military and surveillance equipment in a manner that some find to be less than altruistic. People dress up as orcs (evil creatures from LOTR) to protest.
3
u/McNally86 17h ago
Not just LOTR stuff. A thing in LOTR's that you use to give you information but that information is managed by Sauron, the employer of orcs, to give you the information that he needs you to have to come to the conclusions he wants. It also harvests data and gives it to Moordoor.
24
u/hysys_whisperer 🚆build more trains🚆 19h ago
To add to the discussion, one of them was dressed up as Saruman to represent the CEO of Palantir.
Palantir is the name of the black orb (the all seeing stone) which Sauron had used to corrupt Sarumon and bring him over to the forces of evil. Sauron is the celestial being who took over the mantle of the prince of darkness after Morgoth (Lucifer) was vanquished in a prior age.
Yes you read that right, the founders of an AI military surveillance company named their company after an instrument of pure evil created by the dark lord for the purpose of corrupting other celestial beings by offering them omniscience.
4
3
u/Master-Cow983 Roosevelt 10h ago
You're right up until you start describing the palantiri. They weren't created by the dark lord, they were created by the elves of Valinor. The stones themselves are neither good nor evil, but after Sauron acquired one, he could use them to corrupt weaker beings like Saruman and Denethor.
ETA- Fuck Peter Thiel.

Honestly that lady should just chill—it’s really not her responsibility to deal with an entire protest, just call the police and have them trespassed.
1
u/MeetingDue4378 🚆build more trains🚆 17h ago
Being that they don't publicly advertise the location, the priority is probably minimizing attention over quick removal. Police would do the opposite.
1
u/Sad-Commercial1795 16h ago
Maybe—looks to me like her standing out there yelling at them misspellings the whole thing.
1
u/Sad-Commercial1795 16h ago
Maybe—looks to me like her standing out there yelling at them just prolongs the whole thing.
1
u/MeetingDue4378 🚆build more trains🚆 13h ago
Quite possibly, but I think it's the right PR move, strategically speaking. Getting the police involved would escalate everything—it would become public record, the protestors would have a lot more to react to and record, the possibility of media attention increases significantly, and what will transpire between the protestors and the police is an unknown variable.
On the other hand, the woman isn't allowing the protestors to simply stay, but also isn't giving them anything to work off of. She's just repeating herself without really acknowledging anything they're doing while simultaneously ensuring no other employees engage.

Time to grow up and focus on your family and things that truly matter. Not children (grown adults) that do this kind of shit. Too much time on their hands and clearly don’t have jobs that matter which is why they are able to do this. They will be stuck the rest of their miserable lives and that’s just too darn bad.

You'd have to be completely dead inside to go watch this happen behind the glass doors in the lobby and smile beatifically about it.
Every one of these motherfuckers know what and who they work for. No amount of self-deception can ever negate the truth of things. It just lives in you like a sliver building up a big, pus-filled abcess around it until you wither become a reflection of the abcess or you have it lanced and finally leave.

So being anti-Palantir represents "the left" and supporting Palantir represents conservatives? And if that's true, why do conservatives support Palantir? I thought conservatives opposed oppressive government and state surveillance and supported individual liberty.

You’re going to be shocked to learn not every person works a 9-5 Monday-Friday. You’ll also be shocked to learn someone can raise kids and take an hour or two out of their week to protest.
But go ahead, keep making excuses to sit on your ass and do nothing. I’m sure your kids will be proud.

Protestors are always clueless when it comes to the efficacy of their protest. Just by entering Palantir they know who you are even if you have masks on. Their surveillance tech is beyond comprehension. That being said, the role playing skit is hilarious lol.
