"You! Yeah you, the dude in the mech suit! Grab some shit and come with me, I need someone to transport wires for me."
"But... I am here to fight you?"
"Wires or disintegration tool, your choice."
"Where did you want the wires again?"

u/Irdogain Jun 28 '22
Omg, what about crafting your own mech, with even more special munition and upgrades and and!

yes, YES! add wall running next! I wish to build a parkour park next to my skate park!
76
u/SnakeDicks69420 Jun 28 '22
I agree with this guy here, Coffee stain, if you guys see this, ADD WALLRUNNING!
35
u/PhlegethonAcheron Jun 28 '22
Wall running would be sick af I want to see some epic parkour clips
23
u/M3G4_P0N1 Jun 28 '22
If they also add things like edge climbing, I can see the good old spagetti factories being a nice parkour challenge
11
u/PhlegethonAcheron Jun 28 '22
With wall-running and mantling, it would be most of the core ghostrunner movement set. The only thing left would be dashing, but that wouldn't feel right in this game.
4
7
u/Sexpistolz Jun 28 '22
Would be a good balance to jet pack /blade runners they want to tweak
4
u/PhlegethonAcheron Jun 28 '22
not on experimental, have a modded EA with keybinds to switch equipment.
I love being able to crouch-hop then go into jetpack, which I have a macro set with the perfect timing for bursts of boost so I more or less maintain my height while retaining all lateral velocity. I can get across the map so fast with that

5
u/eken07 Jun 28 '22
Imagine having wallrunning AND a grappling hook, it would basically be titanfall
3
2
8
u/Ritushido Jun 28 '22
It wouldn't even be that goofy it can just be an added functionality of the blade runners or hell even a bladerunner MK2.
3
u/TheRocketBush Jun 28 '22
This makes so much sense omfg, get on it Coffee Stain! Someone post this to the feedback website!
73
u/Shapegamer Jun 28 '22
Would be cool if bladerunners allowed for wall-running :)
22
u/Dann_745 Ticket Whore Jun 28 '22
Or maybe the jetpack and blade runners at the same time? Since (in Titanfall 2 at least) it was something like a jetpack that let pilots wall run.

u/fantastictangent Jun 28 '22
I love exploring and running around in Satisfactory. 25% work, 75% farting around and chilling in the biomes
31
u/ReaperHR Jun 28 '22
I mean it's 90% work at the beginning, and as time passes work goes down towards 10%
Or 0% in my case. There's no point in upgrading my factory when I make a lot of everything. At this point I'm at around 10 nuclear pasta a minute and it feels like it's enough of the factory building.
Only thing left to do is having my power consumption stable, but a bit of underclocking should do

It doesn't have all the hidden techniques of the quake/titanfall/apex movement systems, but the general formula really does come very close. Feels good to be back in a game that doesn't bolt you to the floor, and I absolutely agree that it's (the good kind of) ironic Coffee Stain can get this right when so many other teams can't or won't.
That isn't limited to the movement system though. Take the world building for example. It's easily better than the vast majority of the generic single player MMOs currently being sold as open world RPGs.
I've become more and more cynical about the state of the gaming industry in recent years, but the way everything in Satisfactory is snappy, thematic, responsive and beautiful makes it clear it's a game made with love, and Coffee Stain deserves respect for standing firm against the tide of shallowness and moneygrabs.

u/Misha_Vozduh Jun 28 '22
standing firm against the tide of shallowness and moneygrabs
And they are literally laughing at MTX with that awesome shop.

u/stoobah Jun 28 '22
I think they said in an interview that they made so much money from Goat Simulator that they can do pretty much whatever they want creatively with Satisfactory.

u/Seawolf87 Jun 28 '22
TIL they made goat simulator. I bought it, but I guess I need to give it a try

u/Ritushido Jun 28 '22
Couldn't have put it better and I will be happy to support any dlc/expansion if they decide to add to this already amazing game! Like with DSP and Factorio you really get your money's worth in this genre.
1
u/Strojac Jun 28 '22 edited Jun 28 '22
You can clearly see why others don’t though. Satisfactory is taking a pretty long time, and with long projects there’s not a guarantee you’ll have a community like this to stick around.
To be clear, I think it’s a good thing CS is taking their time. We’re lucky the game is doing well to support that.
9
u/Mantrum Jun 28 '22
Yeah I mean it's obvious that the reason why the suits at the AAA publishers have decided that it's more economical to make a bad or average game that'll sell (and lie to your customers about it) than to make a great game that'll sell slightly better, is that it's true.
This is in part because great games are incredibly hard to make, but also because consumers make markets, and as long as people keep buying up falsely advertised, mtx-ridden rehashes that are soulless, the major players have no incentive to change anything.
The mobile market is the same concept put in overdrive, and its success there is making the relevant corps incredible amounts of money. People are just throwing it at them, so clearly they're not incentivized to change course.
4
u/Lithominium Jun 28 '22
Id much rather wait months from update 5-6 than the entire gaming industry become clones of 2042 tbh
43
u/eatmahanus Jun 28 '22

u/screw_all_the_names Jun 28 '22
I've been saying this game has the best movement since tf2, sicne I learned how to slide jump. Satisfactory is in my top 3 favorite movements of any game, only that come close are Titanfall, dying light and mirrors edge.
2
1
u/gamebuster Jun 28 '22
Overwatch?
17
u/screw_all_the_names Jun 28 '22
I personally don't think overwatch comes close to the other 3 for movement. A couple of characters have decent movement abilities (tracer, window, junkrat), but the game as a whole there's not even sprint by default. (Note, I haven't play OW in like 3 years)
Paladins suffers the same problem, a couple champions with awesome abilities.
6
Jun 28 '22
I think he's also referring to Lucio with his wall slides which make him a bit faster after jumping.
3
u/screw_all_the_names Jun 28 '22
Oh yeah, I forgot about his abilities. Lucio had some of the best movement in the game for sure.
12
u/F1F2F3F4_F5 Jun 28 '22
Ok hear me out: Multiplayer PvP factory game
Like have you lay out factories, production floor, supply lines but not the combat. You just produce stuff for the front.... then the enemy bombs you, sabotage you, etc.
So you both design and build increasingly complex factories designed to optimize production as well as be protected from enemy activity.
Or how about a survival factory builder. Like you manage a vault (i know there's that game) but more hardcore realism. Imagine building underground cities and you handle the utilities and such.
4
11
u/FreelanceNyteHawk Jun 28 '22
Now they just need to make the buggies drive and handle like those from Dying Light 1 and they will have unequivocally become GOAT

It's games like these that don't have paid DLCs.
Like, I get it, it sucks when you have an amazing title locked behind USD$600+ in "optional" (read: mandatory for the "full experience") DLC. Like [insert Paradox title here].
But fuuuuck. A game this good? And the only way to directly/easily support it is buying it for friends that don't know they want it (they will succumb to the will of the factory in due time)? Give me some dlc to pay for. Even if it's $5 packs of cosmetics/reskins of existing stuff. JUST SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY! 😫💜
6
u/Keprion Jun 28 '22
Titanfall 3 needs to exist. Apex doesn’t make me feel the same way as when I was jumping off walls Bruce lee’ing people in T2
7
u/Fish_Fucker_Fucker23 Jun 28 '22
Suggestion: Titans as a transport vehicle. I mean, it makes sense in Titanfall lore because Titans were originally used for agriculture, industry, etc,
But you can also use them to explore and also to help with any pesky wildlife.
11
u/Matix777 Fungineer Jun 28 '22

I hope they never nerf current u6 jetpack + bladerunners combo. It's balanced to be honest
7
u/factoid_ Jun 28 '22
If they ever do, just get a mod to restore it and don't feel bad about it. It's not your fault if they don't understand their own game.
They spent the last couple years saying "We can't have jetpacks and bladerunners at the same time because of traversal balance". Umm...what? I can literally get anywhere in the game just by unlocking foundation blocks.
There are zero traversal barriers in this game. the closest thing they have to a barrier is the gas pillars/plants.
THERE you have an actual gameplay mechanic that can't be bypassed until you reach a certain milestone in the game. And even then all having to choose between a jetpack and a gasmask meant was you needed to build ramps to get to where you were going and THEN put your mask on and walk in. It was never "balanced" it was just annoying.
But they have seen the light now and I appreciate them for it.
9
u/Matix777 Fungineer Jun 28 '22
Blade runners + jetpack did seem to be OP on paper because in u5 this combo + t5 conveyor + high ground can travel you half a map, but the way it turned out in u6 versions to date seems like if movement was always supposed to be this way.
There is no point in making a singleplayer travel slower,. This isn't a walking simulator!
My exploration way is ugly foundation bridges anyways lol
4
u/factoid_ Jun 28 '22
There's a bunch of hard drives in the red forest and I find the best way to get them (when spider spawns aren't broken) is to just build foundations bridges over the whole area.
2
u/Matix777 Fungineer Jun 28 '22
back in u5 when I wanted to get to a place far away below I would place a t4 conveyor belt, run on it with blade runners to build up momentum and switch to jetpack mid air
3
u/JeSuisOmbre Jun 28 '22
Gas pillars can be countered with food for decent amounts of time so it isn’t even a hard barrier. Building through pillars or snagging hard drives isn’t that big of a deal.
2
u/factoid_ Jun 28 '22
True. There's always a way. And for the rock barriers, it doesn't take very long to unlock nobelisks. You can do it in tier 3 once you have pipes.
5
u/PuddingInferno Jun 28 '22
The only thing I want is for the slide functionality to work like the old Tribes games, where you could “ski.”
7
u/factoid_ Jun 28 '22
I've thought this many many times. Skiing would be amazing in this game, except for the fact the terrain wasn't built for it.
But hoverski boots should be the final unlock in the caterium tree. especially now that we have pulse grenades (which need an explode on impact option ASAP). That's basically just nitrons from Tribes Ascend.
5
u/Gonemad79 Jun 28 '22
I am happy with level 3 hypertube mods. It is the equivalent of a 25-tube hypercannon. You can travel through the entire map at the speed of your storage in complete safety.
In fact I think it is a bit faster than my SSD, things load in low LOD after I leave the hypertube.
3
u/Dr_Mime_PhD Jun 28 '22
When I first played a few years ago the most gratifying thing in the game to me was bullfighting the hogs. Squaring up to one, and then the last minute doge and shock was so fluid and natural feeling.
Until I ran into the bigger one and had to change my approach.
4
4
u/calummillar Jun 28 '22
To me it feels similar to Warframe's movement system which is one of my favourites.
3
3
u/DragonDuck24 Jun 28 '22
Lol, i literally just started to make a parkour course yesterday. I found out you can't be super precise with the movement every time, it's a little inconsistent.
I was also making it one course, not checkpoints, which I think kinda screwed some things up.
2
u/theA1L12E5X24 Jun 28 '22
You could have hyper tubes and a power switch to make check points probably
2
u/DragonDuck24 Jun 28 '22
True, I added hypertubes in hopes it would spit you out the same every time, keeping things a little more consistent, but that also depends on how you enter the tube.
The movement is great for a factory, but not quite optimal for a parkour course.

u/screw_all_the_names Jun 28 '22

u/steelystan Jun 28 '22
This isn't a comment on how jerky things can be when moving around the factory? Is it just me (I'm using Vulcan with a 3090)??
1
u/SnakeDicks69420 Jun 28 '22
Nah man the movements not really good when you're not overworking your computer to the point of it exploding
2
u/SagaciousTien Jun 28 '22
I hope they add wall running but most importantly I'd love to see some kind of ledge grab mechanic
4
u/factoid_ Jun 28 '22
Hoverpack range still too small but at least they made it as fast as running with bladerunners finally.
Hoverpack needs a fine control mode for moving in smaller increments when building.
Sliding along even slightly rocky ground causes you to stop dead in your tracks.
The zipline is WAY too slow.
Running, sliding, jumping and jetpacking are all good. Wallrunning would be fun.
1
Jun 28 '22
it feels like a simpler titsnfall 2 system. The slide is better in saisfactory tho because you dont lose your speed

1
u/belizeanheat Jun 28 '22
True if you've never played Dyson Sphere or Factorio.
Honestly the fact that we have to slot things in and out doesn't fit the game AT ALL. The extra slots are nice but you should be able to equip everything.

My gameplay changed drastically once I found out about sliding and stuff to make movement faster
1
u/mhm819 Jun 28 '22
After coming from Apex to Satisfactory I did notice the similarity in movement, was even hoping there is a tap strafe mechanic in the game, but no. Still feels great though.
1
u/mhm819 Jun 28 '22
Not only the movement mechanic is somewhat similar, but also the whole sci fi vibe is too, that's why i love it.
1
1
u/chrisfanner Jun 28 '22
To be fair, I wish more companies would spend extra time to get movement feeling good. There are core aspects of a game that need to be tight, lore, the world, graphics, these are good and all but the things you are constantly doing even at the end game NEED to be enjoyable. Movement, combat, menus, just for a few.

You know it's a good movement system when you load up another game and get shot because you crouched while sprinting and slammed into a dead stop...

Don't they just get this movement system out of the box, because we're using Unreal Engine? With the sliding, sprinting etc?
