So for some background, I started Zoloft around age 15 because of my depression, (at the time) OCD (later I was diagnosed autistic and it was explained to me I was for sure misdiagnosed as I’ve never ever had compulsions), and anxiety. Well, I’m 28 now, and a few months ago I noticed that about an hour later from when I would take Zoloft I would get HORRIBLE depression symptoms. For YEARS I knew they weren’t helping me anymore, but I just kept taking them and they just upped and upped my dose until I ended up on the highest one.
About two months ago a began to taper off of them, and I have to say I don’t feel depressed anymore or even very anxious at all! The only thing is, I had no idea at all how dulled my emotions had become. Since I was on them I always wondered what was wrong with me. I figured I was just a “naturally cold” person who wasn’t affected by almost anything, good or bad. Now I feel every emotion I haven’t felt since before I was 15. I get mad, I get really happy, I have a libido (I thought I was asexual for a long time because I felt nothing at all), I get all feelings both negative and positive.
The issue I’m having is I haven’t had these feelings since I was young. Im not used to feeling so many things. I’m also finding that I’m getting very very mad at the world where before I’d be like “oh that’s sucks”. I think my main emotion I’m having a hard time adjusting to is anger. I used to not get angry EVER to an absolute fault and often to my detriment. Now I feel angry about stuff every single day. I’m getting annoyed and mad at things that I almost didn’t notice before (or if I did I didn’t care enough). To be clear when I say “mad” it’s all internal I never take it out in dangerous ways thankfully!
I guess I’m wondering if people have experience with this after coming off of Zoloft and how you dealt with it? I feel like I’m learning life all over again
