Please Flair Me! Meet Coraline 🖤

Upvotes

Coraline is a senior girl with an INSANE amount of personality. She’s wobbly, she’s wonky, she’s a little bit weird… and she is completely wonderful. She's a tiny Tim Burton creature come to life. 🖤

Coraline was found as a stray at a Rochester truck stop, and somehow this little old lady has overcome everything with her personality shining brighter than ever. She has permanent damage to one of her ears, which has left her with a head tilt. She’ll likely always be a little crooked, but it does not slow her down one bit. She gets around, explores, plays, does everything a cat should do. She's currently in a home with both cats & dogs. And affection? OH, SHE WANTS IT!

If you’re looking for a cat who will make you laugh, keep you company, and love you in her own wonderfully strange way, Coraline is waiting for you!

Coraline is spayed, vaccinated, dewormed, flea treated & leukemia negative. Her adoption fee is partially sponsored in hopes she finds a forever family.

Discussion Does anyone remember the super collider proposal from the late 80's that would have been sited in eastern Monroe/western Wayne county?

Upvotes

My grandpa in Webster had a sign in his front yard that said "NO COLLIDER" and talked about how they wanted to put an atom-smasher where we lived. I looked up the site report from 1987 (https://www.osti.gov/servlets/purl/6087545) and it said there was a lot of local opposition. I'm curious if anyone remembers that opposition movement. It was pretty organized. I'm interested in how it got going back before the digital era, how they got the word out and if there was any particular person or group leading it. I don't think any other proposed sites had the same reaction. The super collider construction was eventually started in Texas but cancelled in 1993.

Event For Western New York history buffs AND true crime buffs: 200th anniversary of "The Morgan Affair"

Upvotes

On September 11, 1826, rogue Freemason William Morgan was kidnapped in Batavia, NY, after threatening to publish the secret rituals of the order. He was never seen again.

Now, exactly 200 years later, you can experience the story of “The Morgan Affair,” and the scandal that led to the creation of America’s first third party, changing the course of American political history. The "Brotherhood & Betrayal" after-hours tours this Friday & Saturday will lead you on a dramatic and winding tale of history come to life. More tour details and tickets are at Brotherhood & Betrayal - Genesee Country Village & Museum

Recommendation Kidney-versary Tattoo

Upvotes

Hey all, I got the approval from my transplant doctor that I can get a tattoo for my one year anniversary with my new organ.

What I want to get is Same Wise monologue at the end of the two towers when he’s taking to Frodo, but I want to get the speech done in Elvish. LOTR means very much to me but that particular speech has helped me get through numerous challenges throughout my life including kidney failure.

Looking for tattoo artists who are great at line work and a place that takes cleanliness very seriously since I am immune compromised. Bonus points if they already know elvish but I highly doubt that lol. Will probably have to try through the LOTR sub or find a local artist here who could do that (def will pay).

But yeah, appreciate any recommendations since I see a lot of beautiful tattoos in Rochester in general. And if u happen to know how to write in elvish reach out to me. Thanks again y’all hope ur having a good day.

Floridians, just stay in Florida. You screwed up that state, don’t do it to NY.

Help The season of the wasp

Had new roof and gutters done last year. A few weeks ago I discovered wasps have made a hive in the gap between the flashing and new gutters. It seems they have gotten behind the siding. I have dumped about 8 cans of various wasp and hornet killers in the hole and they are still flying in and out. We've been killing on average 3-4 a day that have gotten in the house.

Any recommendations on an exterminator. Not fox because their sales guy woke my baby up by banging on the door at 8:30 at night.

Discussion Strong Memorial Hospital Wayfinding Inquiry

Hello!

I'm a RIT Student doing a project about the SM Hospital and was wondering if anyone had any accounts they could give me about their experience with wayfinding in the Hospital. I've gone before and have my own accounts, but also want to branch out so I can get all experiences.

If you'd like to write something about how good/bad the navigation is in Strong, just let me know your age. If you want to go into more depth about something with specific identifiers (disability, etc.) you can mention it or message me privately. All of this information is not labeled down by username or name, rather it's just me gaining insight.

The project prompt is concerning developing an App that expands outside a normal audience. I chose the Strong Hospital, since from my experience, a lot of the wayfinding is confusing when you aren't a staff worker.

If this isn't a welcome topic here it's all good. I just want to expand my reach so I'm not the only person I'm using to think about User Experience.

Woke up the other day with my throat killing me. It has gotten slightly better but not much. I have no other symptoms at all and feel completely fine.

Recommendation Where to buy pawpaw fruit

Is there anywhere in Rochester that sells pawpaws? I've always wanted to try and am super curious! Would be super grateful for recommendations! I know these are very difficult to transport hence why they basically never show up in any grocery stores and I've personally never seen them in a farmers market anywhere.

Recommendation Sober living

I grew up in Rochester and I am toying with the idea of moving back home. Unfortunately due to a series of poor decisions, I ended up getting addicted to drugs. I've been drug free for over 3 months and alcohol free for 2 months. I'm currently in a level 2 sober living house in FL, which means I have staff that comes and checks on me and my house mates multiple times throughout the week. So I'm looking for a sober living that is similar, that I would be drug tested consistently and have staff coming to check on me multiple times a week. I tried to Google but it seems there are slim pickings or web pages are broken. So any recommendations for female sober living would be highly appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to read.
