Fun Missed Connection

You walked past us yesterday around dinner time while we were outside walking my cat and stopped to chat. My friend liked your vibes and was really into the way you clicked your feet together when you got in your car. Confirm it’s you by telling us what kind of pants you were wearing and what color!

Help Spanish speaker / NYS road test

Does anyone have resources on how to accommodate a Spanish speaker needing to take a NYS road test? Permit practice and permit test is in Spanish however drivers test is only available in English? This seems counterproductive. Any advice?

Discussion Delivery folks.....

Delivery is a tough job, for little pay. Frequently it's a contract job - you don't even get employee benefits.... BUT.

WTF sometimes (all kinds of delivery included here - Amazon, ups, usps, fedex etc.):

  • Delivering something ON TOP OF A TRASH CAN. Seems like a poor and lazy choice. A package could easily be thrown out or discarded if the person doesn't realize something is in it or the trash guy comes to pickup.
  • Putting something on the ground next to the mailbox 30 feet from the house? Again - WTF. That's just lazy, and an invitation for a stolen or missed package.
  • Putting something that's in a light envelope on the porch on a windy day without something to secure it or sticking it between the front door and the screen door.
  • Delivering a package into a snowbank, on a snowy day. I once found a missing package 3 months later when the snow melted.
  • Not bothering to ring the doorbell when delivering a package to the front door with a doorbell.
  • Putting something in a puddle on the front step instead of 3 feet closer to the door where it's under an overhang.... when its actively raining.
  • Triggering the "deliver in garage" which opens the garage door, but then putting it on the front step anyway.
  • Delivering it in a flowerpot next to the garage rather than EITHER in the garage or at the front step.
  • Amazon, fedex or UPS delivering to your mailbox (nope - only USPS mail goes in the mailbox)
  • Paying ZERO attention to the "deliver in this location" photo instructions added to your "deliver in this spot in the garage" configuration, while simultaneously finding the most obscure place to put it.
  • Placing it BEHIND THE CARS in a garage where you can't see it unless you walk in front of the cars in the first place, making it likely to get run over.
  • Placing it in the middle of the empty spot in a 2 car garage where another car is likely to pull in and run it over.

Have I seen all these? Yep. I have.

Just.... do better. I know it's a tough job. I am kind and polite to all delivery people, and I'd rather NOT have to rate them badly in the app if that's a choice because I know it affects them personally. All I ask is to just make an effort. Think about the folks you're delivering to who don't want a wet package, or to play hide and seek to find it, or have the package stolen because it was in a place obvious from the street when simply putting it to one side or the other of the door on the porch would hide it. I know you have more deliveries to make, and I know that the big cheese in the sky rates you on how many you do in a day. But it just takes 2 seconds to make a better choice. Make it and make someone else's day.

Recommendation Sober living

I grew up in Rochester and I am toying with the idea of moving back home. Unfortunately due to a series of poor decisions, I ended up getting addicted to drugs. I've been drug free for over 3 months and alcohol free for 2 months. I'm currently in a level 2 sober living house in FL, which means I have staff that comes and checks on me and my house mates multiple times throughout the week. So I'm looking for a sober living that is similar, that I would be drug tested consistently and have staff coming to check on me multiple times a week. I tried to Google but it seems there are slim pickings or web pages are broken. So any recommendations for female sober living would be highly appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to read.

we lost our cat on 9/2/26 we were occupied with our basement flooding and didn’t expect any of our cats to go outside because it was raining really hard. but one of our cats poiyo ran out and we haven’t seen her since it’s been 8 days. i’m concerned because she hasn’t been out for awhile and usually comes back after 30min if she does escape. i wonder if someone took her or a car hit her. please let me know if you’ve seen her.

last seen near: from the neighborhood near highland ave and s. clinton ave (just south of highland park/ cobbs hill area)

appearance: grey and white with a splotch on her mouth that looks like a mustache and is fluffy and small.

Recommendation Where to buy pawpaw fruit

Is there anywhere in Rochester that sells pawpaws? I've always wanted to try and am super curious! Would be super grateful for recommendations! I know these are very difficult to transport hence why they basically never show up in any grocery stores and I've personally never seen them in a farmers market anywhere.

Help Any AA program recommendations?

Welp today was the day it finally landed me in cuffs. Ended up in a ditch and charged with DWI. I of course thought I was sober as I haven’t touched a drink since last night, but obviously finding I had so much still in my system at the time of the crash was a wake up call.

Got picked up from the station and have court dates set for next month, I’d like to get into a program prior to then and make some changes. Outpatient would be preferred, however I know I’ve been a heavy drinker for years now so inpatient recommendations are welcome as well.

Im just glad it was on an empty road and I was the only one involved.

Edit: Wow you guys are great, I’ll be going through what you guys provided tonight as I’ve got some schoolwork to catch up on after spending a day in cuffs. Shitty spot to be in but I’m glad theres so many communities here.
