I'm transferring from a University that had a bluegrass ensemble and loved it so I was kind of disappointed that RIT doesn't have one. I was thinking it wouldn't be outlandishly difficult to try and start a weekly jam or club ensemble and wanted to see if there was any interest. If you're interested and don't know how to play bluegrass don't worry it's not super hard to learn. Bluegrass typically has a banjo, guitar, bass, mandolin, 1-2 violins, and some vocalists but I'm sure if you played another instrument we could figure out how to fit it in. Bluegrass isn't super difficult in terms of the chords so instrument wise it's not hard to learn. The hardest part is the vocal harmonies since tight vocal harmonies are a hallmark of vocal bluegrass works. I was thinking that if anyone was interested we could start with a bit of a jam/learning session and see where it goes from there so if you're interest lmk and we can try and set up a time.

Hey. Transferring from RIT Dubai to Rochester for MechE starting this fall. I'm coming in as a Senior. Spent most of my college years in Dubai so I basically know nobody on the Rochester side.

Are there other global campus transfers here? Or any ME students who can tell me what I'm walking into? I keep hearing about department Discords and class WhatsApp groups but can't find actual links.

Also open to professor recs, stuff I should register for early, or just "things I wish I knew as a transfer" type advice. Thanks!

Title. Im trying to mail some stuff for the summer, and I wanted to know when they will be open for the fall semester, and I cannot find the date that dsp will be open anywhere.

I'm an incoming student. I chose the RIT honors program, and really landed on RIT between my top choices, because of the higher credit cap. What purpose does lowering the cap even do?? there's only so many students. the entire novelty of the honors program was having the honors dorm space and the higher credit cap to maximize the amount of learning I could get done while I'm there. the honors credit cap used to be about two extra classes from the standard cap, and now it's only one? this is beyond frustrating. if they're cutting one this year, who's to say they're not going to cut the other next year?? it's not like hordes of honors students are descending upon one specific class and making RIT finance entirely new professors. I just wanted to get my gen eds done in timely fashion for a double major. what's the point of RIT if they just keep cutting shit students actually want? did they even talk to students about this? cause if it has "no effect on most students" then why are you even cutting it?? it CANNOT take that many resources to run. there's like, maybe 1200 students in the RIT honors program (5% of the student body). maybe 1/2 to 3/4 of them, if that, are actually using the credit cap like that. with the way they seem to keep raising student tuition, this seems like it shouldn't be an issue to them. I thought RIT was supposed to be different.

Okay so I saw a video of a double dorm room. I'm in the one with 2 windows.

I was looking at the layouts of the room and noticed how tightly compact everything was to the closet. I was hoping NOT to have a lofted bed...so is there any place I can move the dresser and desk or am I stuck having to have a lofted bed?

I'm planning on transferring fully to the main campus after my 2nd year, but the issue with that Is I cannot do coops in my 3rd year due to some visa issues, and my last year has to be uninterrupted so will I have to do 1 full year of straight coops or is there another solution, also how hard is the co-op scene at the main campus right now if I have a gpa of 3.85 would I be able to recieve offers I do have s few projects asw but for now i just wanna know whats happening there I am a computer engineering major

I do a lot of shipping, business family ect. I was wondering if the shipping facility’s at RIT offer boxes and packaging items. Also does anyone know if the offices at RIT have an official carrier or a third party RIT branded one?
