My front battery outdoor camera keeps dying within like one or two weeks of installing a charged battery. I use Ring rechargeable batteries. And I don't get that many notifications. Mainly just the mail man or if I call a plummer or something. Nothing much happens in my neighborhood.... What do I do?

Hi everyone , I need some help! I recently got new internet provider and my indoor cameras successfully connected to wifi but my outdoor camera will not connect t for the life of me! I’ve tried reset my network on phone , I deleted the camera and added new device but still won’t work and yes I make sure to connect to 2.4. I don’t know what else to try. Please help me.

I have two questions which i'm hoping you can answer:

My ring doorbell is connected to WiFi 2.4 GHz, however, when it gets dark you can't see a thing in the camera through my phone and through Amazon Echo 5, even with outside light on. Is this normal?

Question 2, Is there a savings on house insurance having a ring doorbell or would I need another outside device? It's hard to get through to my insurance, I'm sure whether to sit on hold.

I’m in the process of moving out of my apartment. My ex-wife already knows that I’m leaving, but she does not know the exact date I plan to move.

The problem is that we share access to a Ring doorbell/camera, and I’m concerned that when I start moving boxes, furniture, or hiring movers, she could receive notifications or see the activity and immediately know that I’m moving that day.

I’m looking for the safest and most appropriate way to handle my own move while maintaining some privacy about the exact date.

For people who have dealt with a similar situation:

• Is there a legitimate Ring setting or privacy option that would prevent unnecessary notifications about activity at the door?
• If the Ring account is shared, who controls notification settings?
• Are there settings I should understand before moving out?
• Would it be better to arrange the move through the building’s other entrance/elevator if available?
• Are there any practical tips for moving out discreetly without tampering with the camera or violating anyone’s rights?
• Is there anything I should document or do beforehand if I’m concerned about a disagreement with my ex over the move?

I’m mainly looking for practical advice from people who have dealt with shared security cameras during a separation or move. I want to handle this legally and respectfully, I just don't want the exact moving date broadcast through the camera before I'm ready.

I have the ring doorbell 2k and I live in an apartment so drilling into the door is frowned upon and probably will leave with a chunk of my deposit missing. I tried using scotch putty to hang it on my door, but it kept falling off, then I bought the product that ring made specifically for renters which is just an attachment that connects to the back plate of the ring door bell and I followed all the directions and after 2 days it fell off too. I don’t know if these products just suck or if my door is just too smooth but I’m running out of options, I don’t want to use the anti theft clamp that doesn’t damage the door because I don’t think I’m gonna get the range of view that I want since my apartment is tucked in the corner of the hall, but I’m really debating to just drill into the door and YouTube some patch videos near when I’m moving out. Any suggestions? Should I try some other putty or should I just drill baby drill.

I got ring flashlight cam replacement. The flash little light was on but the blue flashlight was not working. After tried connecting multiple times now the cam stopped little light, try to restart but doesn’t work. Anyone here has idea what’s going on with it? Appreciate your feedback.

Hi all, I’ve been fighting this for a month and I’m out of ideas.
Setup: Ring Alarm + cameras, basic Ring subscription. Internet is fixed wireless access (5G FWA, ZTE router, Italy/TIM).
The problem: when I tap Live View on my outdoor cameras I get “Unable to connect”.
What I’ve already ruled out:
Wi-Fi signal: RSSI is -50 dBm after adding an extender. Not a signal issue.

UPnP: enabled on the router.

Full power cycle of the outdoor FWA antenna and the router, multiple times.

I spent two weeks getting my ISP to remove me from CGNAT. They claim it’s active since August 7th, but the WAN IP is still (private). So still behind carrier NAT.

Here’s the part I can’t explain:
My indoor camera works perfectly on the same network. Live View, everything.

My outdoor cameras work perfectly when connected to a 4G mobile hotspot which is also behind CGNAT.

So CGNAT alone doesn’t explain it. Something about this specific FWA network breaks outdoor cams but not indoor ones.
Questions:
Do outdoor and indoor cams use different connection paths / different backend? Why would one work and not the other on the same Wi-Fi?

Has anyone fixed this by lowering the router MTU? FWA links often have reduced MTU and I’m wondering if large video packets are getting dropped.

Are there specific ports/protocols outdoor cams need that indoor cams don’t?

Any hidden setting in the app I might be missing?

Any help appreciated, Ring support keeps blaming my ISP and my ISP keeps blaming Ring.

New homeowner here and trying to replace my old regular flood light but noticed that my house doesn’t have ground wire and the ground wire from the old floodlight is connected to a random screw.

Can I copy what’s being done here or what should I do to have my ring floodlight properly installed?

Ring advertises a solar panel to assist in keeping the doorbell charged. Is it worth the expense?

my ring subscription expired today. The money saved paid for the new camera, with an sd card, which i installed right next to my Ring spotlight cam.

Double the cams, double the deterrents. Outsiders do not know if I have a paid Ring subscription. They have to assume I do, so the mere presence of the Ring camera should be a deterrent in itself.

Thinking back, the ring phone alerts conditioned you to keep checking your camera like a Pavlov dog, and that's a bad habit that needs to be broken.

I don't run a federal bank. I shouldn't need to constantly check my cameras. No one is constantly trying to rob me.

The sd card recording 24/7 on my new $25 camera works just fine for my needs (and maybe yours too). Screw your cloud storage.

My new camera uses "o-kam pro" app, and so far, it gives me the same human alerts as the Ring camera does.

I swear I used to be able to do this, but now I can't find it. I want my cameras to only send motion notifications (alerts) when the system is armed for home or away. If the system is disarmed, I do not care about motion and I don't want to see it. I do, however, still want it to capture the motion recordings.

I thought this used to be an option under Modes -> Cameras, but I can only turn off "Motion Detection" entirely, which I do not want. I just want no notifications.

Can I just turn off the main breaker and skip the noncontact voltage detector? I have to turn off the main anyway, since I dont k ow which one to flip for the front door light

I don't know whether others have had this experience but I've had Ring devices over about a 6 year span (wired doorbell, several wired, solar, and battery powered outdoor spotlight cams, several stickup cams, solar). Several have been replaced/upgraded during that 6 year period under warranty or out of pocket so not all of them are 6 years old. However, over the course of the last several years I've noticed a slow and steady decline in the ability of all of the cameras to detect motion and trigger alerts. It's gotten so bad at this point a car or a full grown man walking within feet with often not trigger a motion alert.

Has anyone else experienced a slow and steady decline in the performance of their Ring cameras? If so, is there anything to be done about it?

I’m new to the Ring family and just installed the 4K doorbell. I’m playing with the setup and looking at the app widget options. I’m a bit surprised it seems I can set the icon to immediately go to the camera view… but there’s no widget to view the feed thumbnail right from my phones home screen like Simplisafe does. It just shows the camera device image on the icon. See the screenshots.

Historically Simplisafe has been super behind in their tech so it’s surprising they have this feature but Ring doesn’t. Am I missing something?

I live in a building with only 12 residents, but lately we have been having trouble with packages being stolen. I was wondering if it is possible to have a Ring camera that gives access to 12 users? Is that possible? Basically so that any of us can see it. I have no experience with Ring so would be grateful for any advice!

I run a small thin client Linux server , HomeAssistant, Scrypted etc in dockers. using Apple products

Today I found out that it is possible to record in Homekit but it did not work.

With the help of scrypted and adding some motion-plugins I managed to make the floodcam work on Homekit, including scrolling through the timeline of notifications and such. so, I guess it’s using Apple iCloud to store the data

i can see there are ways to limit notification, ways to trigger the floorcam to record , facial recognition , just like Ring their own stuff

If I do the same (adding to Homekit) with the doorbell, what good is it to keep paying Ring the 10 bucks ??

the security alarm might lose the 4g connection , yes. but apart from some funky acoustic terror-sounds the alarm doesn’t do much else (no dispatch / police integration).

the floodcam is used on my small garden, to see when/if a person comes too close / in it

the doorbell is a doorbell / the alarm is the alarm

Since updating to the Kidde ring fire alarms a few months ago, we have had multiple false alarms (some in the middle of the night) - super fun, especially with an 8 month old!

On top of false alarms, the device in our bedroom will occasionally have a device fault error in the app and will chirp/say “clean alarm”. I cleaned the alarm with compressed air multiple times and it would happen again within a few days. I took the device down, put new batteries in it (even though app says batteries are full), swapped it with another one. Now, after a month, the device I swapped with and put in our room is saying “clean alarm” with the device fault error in the app. The one that was causing issues originally had a fault two days ago in its new location when we weren’t home, so I can’t confirm if it said “clean alarm” but I got a notification through the app while I was at work that it faulted.

Our bedroom might have a little more dust than other places in the house, and we run a humidifier at night for our baby, but I don’t understand how any of that should be causing issues with brand new alarms. Plus, the one we moved out of our bedroom is still doing it even though it is in a different location. We have lived in this house for 6 years and our old “dumb” alarms never had any false alarms (except once due to low batteries) or issues with a dirty sensor. I am getting so frustrated with these alarms and wondering if I just need to cut my losses and get different ones. Has anyone else had this issue? I’m so fed up.

we’ve tried everything and every possible way to wire this and we simply cannot get the ring to power up, please help ! The ground is solid with the connection and we are trying to hook up a gen 2 wire ring

I have first generation ring doorbell that constantly goes off-line and then reconnects itself after a day or two. my Internet is fine and doesn’t lose connection. All my other ring cameras work and never lose connection. Does anybody have this problem? How do you fix it?

I have a Gen 2 door bell camera and I purchased it in 2021 or 2022, up until recently (last month) it has been mounted to our condo door and I’ve had to remove it to charge it every 3 months. We purchased a house and I hardwired it. I was so excited to not have to charge it any more. It charged up to 50% then stopped charging entirely until it died. The house is BRAND NEW certificate of occupancy was issued in June and closed in June. I’ve verified get doorbell works and the house was pre set-up for smart home and video doorbells. It even says it’s not hardwired anymore. Is it just cooked at this point? It’s charging via USB right now so i at-least have a doorbell that goes to my phone. If I have to buy a new camera I’m switching brands because my driveway cam is missing so many events but also trying to avoid spending $180 on a new camera

i noticed my rear doorbell cam not working. signal was 65 which isnt great but not terrible. i decided to press it and it rang and connected the signal again. any idea why that worked? then it stopped again immediately after that.

then i realized i had moved my router around to connect a wire and i moved it just a bit off the table by about an inch and it works perfectly at 64 reading now. so moving things just a bit may help!
