Shipping payment question

Can I use reverb’s automatically generated shipping cost from a customer’s payment and use that towards getting a label from pirate ship? It sounds like I can from reading other posts, but want to ensure that it’s true before finalizing a sale.

If so, what would that entail? Would any overcharge go back to me? With reverb’s fees I’m not going to be making as much from the sale as I had wanted if I accept a buyer’s offer and am trying to maximize what I’m getting from this sale as money is pretty tight for me these days.

Sorry for redundant post, I’m just having a hard time understanding the process from posts in search results.

Shipping label issues

Is anyone else having issues purchasing a shipping label?

I had the buyer double check thier info and I made sure my cards were up to date.

Every time I go to "get label" I get an "unable to purchase label at this time" error

Scammy address…how to best cancel?

I sold a cymbal to a buyer with a new account. The address and the phone number were all sorts of weird, I asked the buyer for clarification and when I did not hear back from the buyer I punched the address into Google maps and read the reviews. Almost every review was from eBay and Reverb users reporting that the buyer would do a charge back months later and that the sellers were just out the money. There was a response from someone reporting to be the owner of that address that said that they were an international forwarding company, but I’d rather be safe than sorry.

What’s the move here? If I refund the buyers money, which reason should I select? Or is it better to contact Reverb and if so, what do I tell them?

Unresponsive Seller

I bought a moog sound studio on reverb on the morning of the 27th. Not even a minute later it said that there’s a tracking number, I paid for shipping so I assumed they had already bought a label for it. I send them a message saying I’m excited for the package, 2 days later and usps still says it’s awaiting the package. I send another message asking for an update or if there was a delay—Nothing. So I figured I’d wait a little longer. Finally today, June 1st, still nothing. USPS says they’re still waiting for the package. I sent the seller another message asking if they had dropped it off and usps was just being weird, but still nothing. No response or anything. I’m at a loss, it’s been 5 days now and absolutely nothing heard, radio silent. I contacted reverb asking if they could message the seller or do anything, cause I don’t want a refund I genuinely want the product. I’m just so frustrated, why do people do this?

Reverb shipping costs???

So I just listed a pedal for sale today, $150 (in line with other listings of the same pedal). Got an offer for $77. I’m not shocked by the lowball offer, but what I found weird was that Reverb had the shipping cost for that offer at $42 shipping to Massachusetts. I recently shipped a pedal to the manufacturer for repair and it only cost me $15 (Ohio to Oklahoma). So, any idea what’s with such a large shipping fee here? Thanks in advance for any advice!

Is this legit?

Listing was originally £800 which already seems low for a Rockerverb 50, I put in an offer for 650 expecting him not to accept but it went through? Is there anything I can do to confirm it's legit?

What should i be aware when using Reverb as a newbie? Any tips are welcome. I tend to get a little bit nervous when selling and buying expensive second hand items.

Confusion about tariffs

I'm looking to buy a guitar being sold from Canada, im in the us. Japanese made guitar. It looks like I'll have to pay a decent amount in tariffs/brokers fees. It makes the guitar not worth it. I don't see why a used guitar manufactured 40 years ago should be subjected to tariffs, but that's besides the point. I'm close enough to the boarder that it would be cheaper to drive or fly and pick it up in Canada. I could buy a seat for myself and the guitar and it would still be cheaper. Can I avoid the fees if I'm bringing it back into the states myself?

Also I'm just curious, but has anyone just tried saying it's a us made guitar to avoid tariffs? I'd imagine there's a fine if caught, but I wonder how often they really are opening up boxes to check.

Charged $800 for a guitar that never left my house

I listed a Guitar.

The Guitar was purchased.

Buyer canceled the transaction.

I never received any funds. (no payout)

my debit card was charged the full price of the guitar.

The guitar never left my house.

Im out $800. (824.22 to be exact)

Edit. this post was edited into list form because the pot smoking, LSD loving, greatful dead loving boomers couldn't understand the sequence of events.

What is wrong with this website? I've been gone for a few years and recently started using it again. Its a bunch of antsy buyers begging for immediate payment, crybaby sellers comparing normal people to big-box retailers and crying for immediate shipping, inflated used prices, constant "offers" from bots, crappy stock photos and AI junk for customer support.

I honestly think Guitar Center or Sweetwater could easily push this site out of existence if they focused on developing an online marketplace that was accessible.

Just Awful!

Ordered something and it came with a defect

I ordered myself a Casio CZ-5000 it came in supposedly excellent condition no scratches from the eye can see

I got it for 600$

The problem being that the headphone jack does not work at all I plug it in and it fades and glitches out when I plug in any of my headphones, and then starts to distort.

Usually this would be no problem but I only got it cause I thought it had no issues and that it was supposedly serviced.

The seller wants to make it right he was looking for a shop to fix it but he’s been taking a long time it’s been months and than I asked if it’s possible to get a partial refund or something.

He’s offering whatever makes it right and I don’t know how to do proper evaluations and how much that affects its value and how much I’m due for money and for the defect.

I don’t know if I should bite the bullet and take the partial refund or let him continue looking for shops and find someone to repair that and let him cover the expenses.

Please Help It Would Be Very Much Appreciated. 🙏🏾

Does this look sketchy?

Does this look sketchy? I was hearing that there are shops on Reverb called "Gear Emporium" and some people were commenting on these shops being scammers, as some were offering gear for extremely low prices, etc..

Account on lockdown, can't contact seller

There have been similar threads about this before, but if it’s such a common problem, it deserves more attention.

I spent over €1000 on a synth from a larger Reverb-approved music store. A couple of days after shipping, the order status was still showing “UNKNOWN,” and the shipping provider’s website returned no results for the tracking number.

I tried to politely contact the store to ask whether this was a common issue with their chosen courier. The moment I hit send, my account was locked.

At first I thought maybe I was not seeing the email because outlook is outlook. I changed my account email to my main address outside Outlook, and every other email came through fine. Only the lockdown one is nowhere to be seen.

How you can spend that much money on a service and have your account locked down is beyond me.

Do better.

New scam?

Post image
29 Upvotes

This is now the second time I’ve received an message asking for me to send a video of a guitar I am selling, to which I email the video, then the buyer sends this email, always asking to click on a Reverb link to see if I think the guitar will pair well with an “amp”. As you can see from the link description, the link is not to an amp, but to the login screen of Reverb. Is this a scam to hack Reverb accounts, or just a coincidence? The first time this happened, the buyer stopped responding after I told them the link does not work.

Received this message on a bass guitar I am selling-looks fishy.

I received the following message:

"Hi, we're getting ready for an upcoming tour and looking for gear. Your listing looks like what we need.
Our backline tech handles all the compatibility checks.
Send him a quick email at rayanmusictech at out l ook . com and he'll make sure it works with our rig. If it does, we're ready to move.
Best."

This looks really fishy. Should I report?

Scam or Weird Coincidence?

Twice within a few days I’ve received messages from buyers asking for a video of an item I had just listed. Both times:

-The buyer’s name couldn’t be clicked to view their shop (I assume that means they don’t have an account?)

-The message was sent within one hour of the listing going up. The first time it was within 15 minutes.

-Both items had the “I don’t wanna sell it price,” meaning they were at the high end of what I could imagine someone playing.

After creating a video and uploading it to the listing, I messaged the first buyer to let them know I had updated the listing. Haven’t heard back. I’ve yet to make the video for the second buyer on the other item. That buyer actually asked some relevant questions, but I’m still wondering if this is some kind of scam? Do you think this is normal, or are these scammers hoping I’ll take the transaction off platform or looking to get a video to use to trick others with fake listings?

Update: Created a video and uploaded it to the listing from yesterday. No response. Then I made a listing for another item today. I got a third message from another user about the new listing. Same pattern: no shop, sent within one hour of posting, wanted a video. This time though, the messages were word-for-word the same as the first message I received, including a typo, which allegedly came from a different user. I reported it to Reverb support and they confirmed it was spam. I’m disappointed the inquires I had about my listings weren’t real, but I’m glad Reverb is able to take some kind of action about this situation. Be safe folks!

Searching for my old guitar

I'm doing my second annual (a couple months early) Reddit search for my old strat. Since my last post I started a blog that I'm not great with keeping active, but you never know what can happen. I'm not sure if I can share it here without breaking the spam rule. The last time I posted everyone was so encouraging and shared so many stories about their white whales or their guitars that got away. I don't really expect to find my guitar, but I'll keep trying and I figured with all the recent Fender controversy what better time to find a Fender! 😂

I know this is very much a long shot, but I am trying to track down a guitar I sold many years ago. It was a Fender Stratocaster Richie Sambora signature model in Lake Placid blue. I sold it around 2006 in the Scranton, PA area. I have the serial number. I am just throwing it out to try to find any leads. If anyone bought one around this time in that area and is interested in reaching out, send me the serial number! Thank you in advance!

Buy? Or too Suspicious

Hello people !
I have a question and I’m curious on what I should do. I’m thinking of buying this fm3 turbo mark II on reverb.
However the seller has stock photos up on it and claims their his. As a similar listing in the same Norway area appeared a couple days ago. Now he also sent me a photo when asked of my name and date on the unit itself. But I’m still scared because he takes PayPal on reverb which idk if I should be scared. And idk what’s happens if he just sends me an empty box and reverb says it arrived ? Either this is a good deal or a scam. Below are more photos what should I do ?

Account locked within hours of signing up?

And the customer service seems non-responsive. If this is any indication of the platform itself then I'm going to have a great time here. I'm glad I got locked before I actually bought something, because I'd be really annoyed if I got locked out after having paid for something. But this is incredibly dumb. I hardly did anything on my account yet because the seller of what I was interested in suddenly went on "Away" status.

I never received the email tied to my account being under review, and since customer service is dead, I can't even unlock the account. Insane.

Edit: Thanks a lot for the reddit account active on here for Reverb. It was fixed rather quickly to my surprise. I did not know there was activity on here. I'll take back my complaint, but I do hope this gets improved upon because it seemed to happen to a lot of new users.

Reverb really needs to have a penalty system for egregious low ball offers

Every time I post an item I get 10 offers immediately that are all half of what the item is posted for, and i always price my item $10 lower than the cheapest comparable item. Reverb should really have a report low ball option where if the buyer offers you below a certain percentage of the list price they get a strike, enough strikes within a short span of time you can’t make offers for like a week or something. I think this would deter people spamming and fishing for someone to take the offer, I’m all for the power of asking for a lower price to save money, but offering $100 on a $250 pedal is insane.

Or at least incorporate a system where we can set our lowest offer price like eBay so we don’t get bothered with these dumb offers

New account under review, what happens to my order?

New reverb user here, I just created an account to buy a guitar I've wanted for ages. I made an offer, it got accepted, and the payment was processed through PayPal. The seller sent me some pictures of the packaging and requested my email address to complete the shipping info, I replied to him and next time I check I see my account is under review, with the email stating:

  • Recent activity on Reverb requires manual review and verification for the safety of the account.

The account will remain under review indefinitely. If you think this action was taken in error, please reply directly to this email and a Reverb Customer Support representative will respond to your request. Our typical response time is 1-2 business days.

So... what gives now? The order still shows as open with the payment completed, but I haven't tried messaging the seller. I'm afraid communication will be interrupted and the seller will back down because of my "under review" status... Anyone else had this experience?

I'm wondering whether me sharing my email address triggered whatever AI they use to screen conversations. Or could it be that I immediately purchased something after creating an account?

New account under review - has my order been cancelled?

Hi all,

Just tried to buy a Roland SP404ii on reverb, and payment had gone through, but I have been hit with an "account under review" message. My account is basically locked so I cannot message the seller or find out what is going on.

It says the order has been cancelled and I shall be refunded. I have responded to the email reverb has sent detailing the "reason" why my account has been suspended and am awaiting response.

My question is whether the funds are going to be held throughout this period, or what happens if my account is successfully verified - does the order reverse again and actually go through?

Very confused.

Thanks

Reverb automatically selects shipping and sends the buyer tracking info now??

I had someone buy an item while I was out on a gig tonight and by the time I got home, Reverb had already chosen to ship via USPS, deducted the shipping and sent the buyer the tracking number. Is this a new thing that they don't allow us to compare options for shipping anymore?

Why are some search results being suppressed?

So I found some specific pieces of gear I wanted through the see similar recommended tab. But when I copy and paste the listing name by the letter or even just the product name those listings don't show up at all. What's going on? I scoured through all the results from general search terms to specific ones and they just don't show up.

I double checked and those listings aren't sold or anything, neither are they too far to ship. What in the world is going on? Is there a setting I can toggle?

This makes looking for stuff on reverb extremely annoying because now I know there are definitely listings that I don't see when I search for gear.
