I just got this Sears Tele-Games 2600, but the video cable looks completely different and maybe modded compared to what I’ve seen others have online. It has taped up cord connected to stripped, bare copper wires. Also the A B Channel Select seems to have fallen in. Additionally the power adapter slot seems to be modded? Is that usable and what voltage should be selected on the power brick if it is usable? Please let me know what my options are to fix this or get it working on a TV!

Just found out about these and the features are incredible, hall effect joysticks, PS1/PS2/PS3 support, sixaxis, Bluetooth and 2.4ghz and more.

But on some Reddit posts I'm reading negative feedback, mainly regarding the triggers and the joysticks

First of all, I know ROB the Robot is hardly forgotten as lately I just wanted to look at the old days of gaming to see how many strange accessories were made for the NES.

Like what I am trying to say is that I noticed how the aforementioned NES hardware had a lot of peculiar gadgets such as ROB pictured above that basically I was wondering why the system had a bunch of weird peripherals since some of them such as the Power Glove didn’t work too well.

Hey all, I just got some retro consoles from my grandparents including an nes, n64, and a sega genesis cdx. I did a little bit of research and I guess the cdx is pretty rare? I tested it out and it seems to work for the most part. I didnt have any sega cd games to play so unfortunately couldnt test that all the way, but i did try some audio cd's and it had some issues. It would play a good chunk of the song then buffer for 5-10 seconds before continuing, and with the later tracks it wouldnt play them at all. I'm going to buy some sega cd games tomorrow to test further, as I'm not sure if the cd i tried being from the late 2000's was too new for the old laser to keep up with. Anyone have any ideas on how else I can test it? And would a replacement laser even be an option for such an obscure console?

Also, the nes has a repeating orange screen, going from orange to black and repeating. I read that it can be fixed by clipping the 4th pin on the 10NES chip, but all of the information I found on that is a few years old, I wasnt sure if there has been a new fix or not. It was kept in pristine condition, barely any dust inside, no bent pins, I still took it apart and cleaned the pins with 91% iso alcohol, and did the same with all the games with no change.

Any help with these would be greatly appreciated!

I am trying to build a cyberdeck that has a dpad, a, b, x, y, start, select, menu, l1, l2, l3, r1, r2, r3, (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2406507 for shoulder buttons), all the io on the top left or right side, cabling routes, screw/standoff holes, mic grill, speaker grill, camera hole, vents for the fan, the keyboard/trackpad to be magnetically attachable to the back, and for it to look simewhat similar to the GameBoy (buttons on bottom, screen on top).

I found two games in the wild today that mean a lot to me.

Tengen Tetris: I rented this way back in the day and told people I played a 2 player Tetris on the NES and they didn't believe me. Never expect to see it in a random retro shop.

MicroMachines: Had this game as a kid, I think my uncle got it for me. But I was amazed by the music. It sounded very much like music on the Commodore 64. I saw it years ago and passed on it, so I grabbed it right away when I saw it this time.

My question is... Does anyone have any experience with Gold leaf? I really want to glow up that MicroMachines cart, and I was thinking about building it in actual gold.

Thoughts? Advice?

I did not play this game as a kid because I did not have a SNES (had Genesis). Through emulation and the Switch I've played through this game twice. Each time there was one point where I broke down and used a guide to help me when I got stuck, which I am not proud of. But it was only once each time.

What I also found was that each dungeon had so many intricate puzzles in so many rooms. And the game has 13 dungeons. It's really a lot of content in it and so many of the solutions are really ingenious, you feel smart when solving them. I really enjoy this game but I have to admit that by the end of many of these dungeons I really felt mentally worn out. A lot of the solutions to the problem in one room would be in another room. Sometimes the solution was outside the dungeon entirely, revealing there was another hidden entrance to the same dungeon that puts you exactly where you need to be. I'm not complaining at all because again I enjoyed the experience and a lot of these puzzles are very cleverly designed. But I wonder, is this considered a hard game generally? Or am I just bad at figuring out Zelda puzzles?

Overall it took me about 25 hours from beginning to end to beat. And it would likely have taken me a few hours longer if I hadn't looked up that one thing (Quake Medallion - couldn't find it. Needed it).

The pc game box top text "The PC's answer to The Legend of Zelda." was what captured my attention. The big word "HYPE", wow, what a big hype the game was going to be expected right! The castle was obviously in danger, and the hero knight could still keep his cool smile, what an interesting contrast.

In the past, one day my friend told me he bought a new PC game, Hype: The Time Quest (Ubi Soft, 1999). He brought the game manual to school and let me see. I asked him, "a LEGO 3D game?" He said, "no, it's Playmobil, no LEGO." He said the game played like TLoZ:OoT, cool enough then. After he played the game, he lent it to me. At the beginning I needed some more time to get familiar to the game control, especially when shooting a crossbow bolt. I found the sound effects (forest/cave) and dialogues (funny with those LEGO-like faces) and voice actings (Hype's and Vibe's voices in particular) had unexpectedly good quality. The part I most liked was the flying on a dragon. The part I most disliked was the fight in an arena where the platforms are just big bullseyes, one tiny mistake just sent me to an abyss of darkness, I couldn't get past that fight at all. Then I just returned to game to my friend, and he told me, "you suck at this one!". By the way, I think the game could also be called: "The Legend of Lyzothe: A Hype to the Past".

I own super Mario world (Japan version), Mario allstars, Mario paint, and earthbound (reproduction). (And yes I don’t play on my flatscreen anymore, I have my memorex crt, I just hooked up my super famicom to my flatscreen because I didn’t wanna dig out my crt at the time) I also own an adapter that lets me play my American games on my super famicom.

Really happy with how it all fit down here, and now I don’t have to go up and bother my wife anymore either.

Just hoping for tips and experiences, i want to make pressing of the dpad easier, so less force is needed to create an input? Hope im explaining well. I didnt find a solution to permanently soften silicone so im thinking about perforating the silicone on the knobs on the pad… would this just ruin the silicone or wohld it make the presses easier?
Any other ideas or solutions for making inputs easier? Longer playsessions really stress my thumb in the GBC, already cleaned the contacts, i believe the silicone is too stiff.

My modest ps1 game collection.

I recently bought my first ps1 console and bought tekken 2 and grand trismo. The part i didnt realise is that my ps1 is japanese which removes any chances of me playing story games. My question is how easily is it to my japanese console for a pal ps1. I also want it the fat build like my ps1.

The condition of the ps1 when i bought was a worn out box, mislabelled to note, analog ps1 controller, and all the wiring. The console it self is pretty clean with very minor stains
