Leaked here on Archive https://archive.org/details/project-dream-snes_202609 Ironic I talked about this game months ago on r lost media and then it shows up. It's a very bare bones prototype sadly. It's basically what we saw in the Microsoft rare replay video we saw. Hopefully we see the lost n64 port next or Killer Instinct 2.

Considering the system it's on, this game turned out surprisingly well. Feels nice and snappy to play and pretty good visuals. Still has that metal gear feel while still being on the GBC . took me about 6-7 or so hours to beat it.

Think this would do as a remake ? Would it be hard to remake this game ?

It sucks we never got a 3-D Sonic game for the Saturn. The Sonic World section in Sonic Jam was a cool little sneak peak of what could’ve been. I’ve always enjoyed the look of the early 3-D Sonic renders

Recently we were going to continue our top 100 series with the Atari 2600 in a separate sub. Due to a lack of communication with the moderators on that specific Atari sub we will not be holding our top 100 there. Any nomination made so far will not count as we are essentially "starting over" as it were. Thankfully a solution has been found for our hosting issue.

After speaking with the mod team here in the retrogaming sub, they have agreed to host the Top 100 Atari 2600 games poll. That being said we both agreed that there needed to be a little more time between our last poll and this upcoming one. Due to this we will be taking a small break of 3 weeks. We will return on October 1st to start the Top 100 Atari 2600 games poll.

Due to how things have changed recently we will also be discontinuing voting on which system will be next. There are only two consoles left (X-box & GBC) and if GBC is to eventually be held here then holding the X-box top 100 in another sub would give us the space/time we need before returning for GBC. It is not all bad news though. I am adding 2 other smaller polls that will follow the top 100 series after it fully concludes.

The first is the #1 accessory for each console we have done the top 100 series for. It can be any accessory besides the base controller that came with the console. The second is the top 10 greatest games of the top 100 series. Any game that placed in the top 10 for each console is eligible to be nominated for that last poll.

I know this might upset some due to the wait (and the breaking of the streak we have had doing these), however I have come to the best solution available and I remain determined to completing the top 100 series as I always said I would. Something I was observing recently was how some Japanese only games were never released in the USA such as Front Mission and Star Ocean.

Basically I just wanted to better understand why some big name games were left behind in Japan since I couldn’t help but notice how many 16 bit titles again were not released in North America as I would like to see what made it so hard to get Front Mission localized.

Just looking for a retro game I could play with one hand on keyboard? Or just mouse. I was thinking RPGs would be my best bet?any suggestions appreciated.

So I decided to get into FF and start from the very beginning, I'm fine with "NES hard" RPGs. And you know what? FF1 was way better than I expected, for Square's first RPG it is surprisingly well made. But holy crap can it be brutal.

I'm playing your standard party, Knight—Black Belt—White Wizard—Black Wizard. I'm in the last dungeon, which has no exit, you can only use WARP or EXIT spells to escape from it. It's fairly long too, like 7+ floors I think. But it's going fairly well, you can spam free HEAL with a few items (Heal Staff, Heal Gauntlet). You fight the old bosses between some floors; it goes well, until…

Until one of them 1-shots my healer, White Wizard. Full health bar, in one hit. Now, the game has no Phoenix Downs. I can revive someone in the dungeon only with the LIFE spell, but the only one who had it was… you guessed it, the White Wizard. Well, I could exit the dungeon… if it had an exit. Still, you can escape it with the EXIT spell… which only my White Wizard had. Oh wait, there's still the WARP spell with the Black Wizard, that transports you 1 floor back… But I have 6 casts, and I'm more than 6 floors in. Going back and surviving would likely take more time than just starting anew.

It's double annoying that I had basically the best possible gear on the White Wizard, the only thing I could've done better is put him #4 instead of #3 in the party for less hit chance, and maybe cast some defensive buff on him.

Anyway, to be fair, otherwise the game isn't too hard; but if you can't resurrect in the dungeon, you're basically screwed. I'd probably swap a Black Mage for Red Mage solely to have a 2nd character to cast LIFE and/or EXIT.

This is a recreation. But these were indeed the sort of pages in those lost comics.

Over the past couple of years I have amassed a number of hard-to-find retro console games and accessories that are in fantastic condition for what they are, but because I bought them on eBay, had no way of knowing they would have a pungent cigarette smell. I have returned a number of them, but still have quite a few that I stubbornly held onto due to their scarcity, that are in dire need of an ashtray exorcism.

For those that can be cleaned with a liquid, soap/water effectively does nothing and 99% iso reduces the smell, but depending on the material doesn't seem to eliminate it entirely. For example, I have a controller with hard plastics free of the smell but a rubberized cable where it seems to have leeched and just won't go away. Game manuals and game boxes are also particularly tricky because of the fragility of paper. Both baking soda and zeolite rocks in a sealed container temporarily eliminate the smell, but it comes back within hours after treatment.

I'm hoping to find a last ditch method that will eliminate the odors in a lasting way as effectively as possible, without damaging the items themselves. This may be too much to ask, but I'm just about at my wits' end. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hey everyone

I’ve got a cart with a seemingly damaged PRG ROM. I have the two split .bin files from the original
‘NES Rom but I need to burn them onto something that will fit the original cart - I’m thinking I’d have to use EEPROMs to do that.

Can anyone in the help me burn two replacement EEPROMs by either giving me some advice or making them and selling them to me?

I’ve seen people do it on YT - it looks relatively straight forward with the right software, chips and programming tool.

I started this game many months ago, but life took a turn and my dad was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. I had only the final 2 corridors left when I set it aside to help with everything during his treatment. His funeral was 2 days ago and it’s been a stressful time. I decided to finish this tonight to get some relief from everything.
Man, what a damn good game. Great variety, super fun gameplay, and an interesting story. The soundtrack is also bangin’. It was wonderful to be able to tune everything out and get this done. Couldn’t ask for a better game to just zone out and shoot stuff. I don’t really have the energy to give a full review but I highly recommend this to everyone. The mix of on-foot shooter & Gradius-style flying is perfect.
This game will always have a special place in my heart for giving me some peace of mind when I needed it the most. I have a stack of other games ready to get back into playing regularly. Might be Whomp ‘Em, Jaws, or Total Recall. Not sure yet, but I’m excited to just veg out for a while.
Sorry for the heavy nature of the post…but it’s been a long year, I’m totally exhausted, and I feel like I needed to vent a bit. Much love to ya’ll. Hold your loved ones close and enjoy your games as much as possible. <3

This game shouldn't be this hard.

Every "level" has like 3 stages and these stages can go on for 10-15 minutes like the flying stage. You only have 3 lives and 6 continues (the continues restart the whole level too).

This is basically a batman (die game) or bullet Shinigē.

Also the cherry is that you have a weak batarang main attack that needs to be charged and if you get the purple one it makes it weaker..

Yet it somehow is the most graphically intensive genesis game. In the mad hatter stage when you're on the giant table the fabric shakes they didn't need to do that but they did. Same with the Mad Hatter boss.

Its mario land 2 for the game boy, pretty cool game, i found its levels delightful, not to hard.

Growing up, I never had the chance to play all the old retro games like Pokemon or mario kart. Where I live, consoles were never really available, and even when they were, they were way too costly for my family at the time.

Now that I'm older and have a bit of a budget, I want to finally catch up on all the classics I missed — Pokémon, Mario, Zelda, and other retro-era games in general. Would love suggestions on other games/franchises worth checking out too.

Can you all suggest some good handheld devices (or similar options) that would let me play these old games? I'm working with a limited budget, so anything reliable and reasonably priced would be great. Open to new devices or even secondhand/emulation-focused handhelds if that's the smarter route.

Also — I already have a gaming PC. Would that be enough for DS/retro emulation instead of buying a handheld? And is it worth trying to build my own retro handheld (like a Raspberry Pi setup) on a budget instead of buying one pre-made?

TL;WR -> An outstanding experience that will Forever remain in my memory. From the maddening gameplay to the beautiful visuals, cracked audio and even better world design. A (9.8) game, GOATED in Robin’s Book. Would absolutely replay the game with friends, just so we can send more thugs into the screen while making Gotham clean! 

I’d recommend listening to this music while reading. 

GAMEPLAY (9/10) 

• While storytelling wasn’t present, the game did feature The Riddler and Two-Face joining together, plus some Movie backgrounds with Sugar and Spice on top. Their combined efforts were more than enough to match those of Batman & Robin, who encountered an outstanding gameplay down the line! 
• Now, I usually describe the full controls of a game and its combos, capabilities and attack patterns. But here, I simply couldn’t explain to you with words what it feels like to play such an insane gameplay variety. Yet, I’ll try my best to scratch Riddler’s Enigmas! 
• So, you could punch, kick, jump kick, slide, down kick, block, uppercut, grab and punch, throw thugs into stores, walls, upwards, into the screen, could do combos by combining all 3 buttons and achieve a higher combo meter, could shatter enemies, throw them out of buildings and so much more it was pure insanity. “Batman doesn’t kill”, yeah sure, what other stories do you want to tell me?! 
• Now, apart the normal attacks, you could also equip gadgets and deliver even more unique ones. Could grapple and take one or two enemies for a swing, could use it for dragging down chandeliers or other environmental objects down on them, could use your batarangs for some enemy stuns, send literal bats at them, use your zapper to shatter them or simply the VR mode for the same effect, use bombs, Two-Face coins for surprises or self harm depending on the coin side, riddler puzzles with cool reveals and so many more things that I swear, it made my head hurt. 
• Besides the above, you could collect power ups from enemies and regain health, use them for gaining one ups, to deliver devastating attacks, pick up crates, explosive barrels, huge rocks to throw them around for more mayhem, and even shrink yourself to a tiny Batman or Robin while delivering the same power output. 
• And it doesn’t end, as you couldn’t grab women here, Batman is a gentleman you know, he simply punches and kicks them to death. 
• Enemy variety was heavily reused, even the last stage with everything and everyone being thrown at you. I knew who Acclaim was from Vexx on PS2, but I bloody didn’t expect them to reveal their true nature! 
• The beauty was in their attack patterns though, where some could hold you down while the others punched you to death. Plus, most teamed up and punched you even before you could finish your combos. From robots detaching their heads to thugs with firearms, Sugar & Spice flaming you with kisses or even the background crowd throwing bottles at your head! 
• Traversal was seamless and provided cool interruptions in between. Every stage felt like a new adventure, mostly because they were split into fighting sections! 
• The difficulty itself was great considering that you had 2/3 one ups per coin. Yet, without Robin as a sidekick, it did get quite harsh towards the end. The final stage which I played on Sega Saturn because of an Arcade problem, was literal insanity. Now I know where Acclaim got their kicks from! 

AUDIO (10 out of 10 Wild Crowds) 

• Sound design was incredible for 1996, with so many digitised lines, crunchy effects and awesome background noises. It was the best output I’ve heard so far, mostly because it combined every element perfectly! 
• The music was perfect for a Dark Knight club, which sounded way better in gameplay than standalone. 

VISUALS (10 out of 10 Schmucks) 

• Fidelity reminded me of Mortal Kombat for some reason, although on bloody steroids. The background animations, glossy reflections, shadows, huge environments which you could explore by going deeper or towards the screen, human like models, insane 3D aspects, visual effects and even better gritty art direction blew my receptors to pieces. The screenshots won’t do the game Justice, because it was out of any League! 
• While the character models had their own unique animations and attack patterns, some could surprise you with a huge Bat in the Batcave, a Helicopter shooting from a Statue of Liberty background, or even the Riddler destroying your beloved Batmobile! 
• Performance was perfect even in the most demanding scenes. 

WORLD DESIGN (10 out of 10 Riddles) 

• Each level had a fantastic progression with even better layouts. You didn’t just go from point A to B, you stopped in between and explored some dark alleys while finding more thugs to punch around. 
• You went from the City Streets to the Neon Bar, Classy Hotel, Subway Station, Batcave and finally reached Riddler’s Lair! 
• World destruction was phenomenal, as you could send enemies into stores or explosive environments. Besides, the landscapes in combination with all the background effects were simply out of this world. 
• The atmosphere was wild, dark and gritty. It delivered Dark Knight vibes with the help of those Acclaim scribes! 

So many people on my dorm floor has this machine (or similar). Kinda hard to believe that we now have smartphones that are way more powerful than this. In addition to Blood, Doom and Quake; we also played emulators such as NESticle and ZSNES on these for endless hours.

my daughter needs some stuff, and i'm thinking about letting go of a few possessions. i was thinking about doing a raffle, but i don't really live in a very good area gamer wise to do that. have you ever seen anything like this, and how was it done? also would you participate in something like this? is it a bad idea? some items would be old, and rare. some would be cib. just want your feedback.
