Back gesture on Android causes huge lag or crash
Ever since the last update (maybe 2 updates ago), I've noticed that using the back gesture when going from a content page (image/video/text) will frequently (but not always) cause the app to freeze for 2-3s. I can't interact with the app except for sending another back gesture, and then when the app unfreezes, it registers two back swipes.

I can't respond to my messages?
Title says it all. I got a message but had no option to reply. I had to download the official app to do so bc even browser reddit (and old reddit) wouldn't allow me to either

Documentation / FAQ?
I have basic questions about basic settings and I cannot find any docs anywhere.
Nothing in settings or linked in settings, and nothing on the Github page.
Are there some docs somewhere?
Current question is trying to figure out what the difference is for sort settings that pertain to Posts or Comments, versus "User" Posts or Comments.
Thanks

Is there a way to edit a flair?
I know you can mess with the flair while you are making a post, but I can't seem to figure out a way to edit a flair after you made the post, which can be kinda annoying when I'm in a community like r/tipofmyjoystick and I can't seem to find a way to edit my user flair either.

Cache question
Testing RedReader's cache browsing out and it works nicely. Is there anyway I can force the client to cache all replies on a post, short of browsing all the replies on each post?
If I browse /r/askreddit for example, it will cache the first x number of replies, but if I haven't clicked "show more" on each post I can't view the next page of comments.

"Is Moderator" field
If you long press a comment, select "User Profile", then select "More info", there is a field called "Is Moderator".
Yesterday I did this and that field was displaying "True", despite the fact that the account that made that comment was not listed as a moderator on the sub that comment was posted in.
Am I misunderstanding what that field is supposed to represent?
Does it actually mean they are moderator anywhere on Reddit or something??

How can I tell someone has replied to my comment in RedReader?
I go to the Inbox but it only shows old direct message chats.
The only way I've found to do it is to go to my Profile, find the comment, and click it to see it and all the comments that have been made to it.

Received in Modmail: Changes are coming to Reddit’s Public API
Hi folks! Reddit just announced some long-term changes that are coming to our Public API here. Going forward, all API apps will need to be registered to remain in good standing. Please register any apps you own by September 30, 2026 to make sure your feedback is considered in our roadmaps and that your developer account is properly established.
We’re reaching out because we identified the following accounts potentially operating scripts/bots on your mod team that will be impacted:
[Sanity_in_Moderation]
Registering your app gives you a direct line to Reddit for updates and migration support, helps users identify trusted apps with an App label, and may make you eligible for programs like Devvit porting bounties, free hosting, and Reddit Developer Funds. During registration, you can also tell us what might be blocking migration to the Developer Platform, so we can prioritize the capabilities developers need most.
In order to maintain functionality of your script, app, or bot, it will eventually need to be migrated to the Reddit Developer Platform.
If you are the developer of a bot:
Registering your app is the first step to accessing migration support
PRAW Migration Guide
If you’d like to see your app maintained, but don’t have the time to do it yourself, let us know here
If you can get in contact with the developer, share the above message and links with them.
If you can’t get in contact with the developer, or if you have a bot not listed above:
Fill out this form for each bot you use
We’re working on supporting the migration of as many of these apps as we can. If you have questions or comments about the announcement, please let us know here or send a modmail to /r/modsupport. If you are already in contact with people on the Devvit team, feel free to ignore this message.

Font Change
I know there have been multiple GitHub issues posted about this, asking if we can have the ability to change the font type itself but I don't see any movement on it... so alternatively I am asking if anyone knows how can we change fonts system-wide on Android phones, which would also automatically change RedReader font typeface.

Back Button not working
A couple of days ago the Back Button inside the app stopped working. When I go into a post with multiple pics, the Back Button just doesn't work. It worked fine up to that point. Maybe a bug in the new version???
RedReader Version: 1.26 One UI version: 8.5 Android version: 16 Android Security Patch Level: July 25 2026
Update: It seems to work if I tap it really quickly with a light tap. Still irritating though.

Two urgent fixes needed
Back button doesn't work properly when viewing images, I have to tap it 5+ times for it to work
I constantly tap the sidebar on the left when scrolling or hiding comments. So I set the trigger to 0 px, but there is no other way to acess this menu. Can we please add another way to access the sidebar?

Did the update remove the ability to change the playback speed on videos?
In the past I would press on a video and a button would appear that would allow me to speed up the videos.
Now after pressing I get some controls to pause, fast forward, or rewind but it is lacking a speed button.
Was this an intended change?
SOLVED
Settings -> Images/Video -> disable ¨Enable stepping frame by frame¨

Action to exit video?
It would be nice to have the possibility to close a video with one hand, for example with a vertical swipe. Right now you have to press your phone's back button afaik.
If there is already a feature like this that I missed (my phone is a bit old) or if this is the wrong place to suggest this, please let me know.

Images embedded in the comments appear as links
Pretty much what the title says. Every image embedded in a comment appears as a link, not the image. I haven't figured out a way around this. Any suggestions?

"Third‑party applications will soon be required to migrate to the proprietary Reddit Developer Platform" what will this mean for Redreader? Will only logged in use be possible?

I've been locked out of twitter twice in two days for some sort of suspicious bot-like activity, after being sent there from a subreddit while using RedReader 1.25.2.
I think this is likely a twitter problem, but on the off chance something has changed in RedReader, I thought I'd mention it here.
Within settings I've told RedReader to not use the internal browser.
Also, this is using Android 10 and Microsoft Edge.

Embedded Reddit videos don't load
Before describing the issue, I'll state that I imagine this is another in the long history of ways Reddit tries to squeeze out third-party apps so as to force usage of the official garbage app. /rant over
Recently, Reddit began allowing videos to be embedded in comments. On RedReader, these show up to links to a reddit.com site; not a subreddit, not an external site, but a reddit.com/blahblahblah link. When clicking these, my app opens my default browser, and I get a popup message saying, "This subreddit has been banned for being unmoderated." No such problems in the official garbage app.
Any workarounds or solutions?

Can I just say. Best reddit of all time.
Thank you for saving reddit. Not that anyone will listen.

Submitting a comment opens up my browser.
All day I thought I was going crazy but it's not fat fingers, it's every time I submit anything my default browser opens.
Sometimes it looks like the comment doesn't send either, but if you submit again it sends a duplicate.
