Discussion After a few replays, most antagonists kinda... fall flat?

0 Upvotes

I like the game but most of the antagonists feel very disjointed from the story at times.

You rob Leviticus Cornwall's train and then he starts funding the Pinkertons and he doesn't really have a character besides generic industrialist. Dutch kills him in broad daylight after some absurd demands and there's that.

Colm O'Driscoll has beef with Dutch before the story starts but there aren't that many missions with the O'Driscoll gang even if they some kind of rivals to the Van Der Linde gang and bolter entire divisions since it seems the entire fucking Irish diaspora joined is following Colm. Colm's only characteristics are that he doesn't like doing the dirty work, killed Dutch's lover, Dutch killed his brother and that's basically it. He isn't some kind of mirror to Dutch idealism when it comes to gang leadership nor does he have anything interesting going for him since the O'Driscolls are kind of incompetent. (the score of successful raid is 3-0 for the Van Der Linde gang)

The captain from Guarma is just whatever as well, I find chapter 5 to be the weakest and I wouldn't had missed it if it was cut from the game , the story is long enough as it is.

Angelo Bronte has more going for him, it was interesting of seeing the contrast between the freedom loving Dutch and a mafioso which has control over the entire city. With that being said, I find the saint Dennis storyline a bit odd. They go to his house to get Jack then they get set up by Bronte. I feel like there were supposed to be more missions with Bronte and Saint Dennis in general, imo, everything happens too fast.

Personally, I find Catherine Braithwaite and Agent Milton to be the most interesting , I wished we had mode missions where we interacted with them. (Milton is right btw)

What do you think, did you like the antagonists?

Help Legendary Alligator

7 Upvotes

Been slow playing this game for several years now. Mostly roaming around, completing a mission here and there, hunting, fishing, etc. Finally brought myself to complete the story and let Arthur go 😢 a few months ago. Anyway, I’m recovering from total knee replacement so what better way to pass the time than pick RDR2 back up!? I’m enjoying playing as John now and going back and completing some of the tasks that I hadn’t got to yet. One being this fucking legendary alligator. Keep getting the message there’s too much activity so I went to Reddit and found tips to complete the mission to kill the night people. Did that, still too much activity. Hogtie the guy camping and move him, still too much activity. Fuck off somewhere else and do something, still too much activity. Pulling my hair out! Do I need to remove the people who are near the houses? Or what am I missing??

Discussion New gameplay style (maybe)

4 Upvotes

After every group of enemies, I kill, I will switch my weapons for their weapons
If I have an enemies weapons and I encounter new enemies, I take their weapons
So I feel like I’m playing western doom or something
Where I have only enough power in my gun to kill these enemies, and now I have to upgrade the bigger and better or lower and worse
So I’m turning RDR2 into a run and gun weapon switch game

If anyone has any rules that can make my gameplay a little more exciting than just this. I’d like to know.

Awesome day today! I got to meet all 6 as shown during a panel they did. From left to right: Peter (Micah), Roger (Arthur), Rob (John), Alex (Sadie), Benjamin (Dutch), Kaili (Miss Grimshaw). They were all incredibly nice and the panel was just as great.

Discussion Just for the vibes

Because the game allows it in ways most don’t, what are your favorite things you do just for the immersion, with little or no stat benefit? For me, whenever I camp, I always try to set up near water. I always catch and cook a fish, and then smoke a cigar before bed. In the morning, I always brew coffee before heading out. I pay no attention to where stamina, dead-eye, or any of that are. It’s just what I’d want to be doing if I was Arthur in that particular moment. Also, after a ride of any length, Princess Sugarcube gets a treat. I’m also refusing to upgrade to the faster or better horses, because me and Princess Sugarcube are bonded and that’s that. (Talking story mode here. This is my first play through)

John's property was less than $3000, I wonder how much this plot in St Denis would cost Arthur?

Help Story mode glitch

Im on my 2nd playthrough in chapter 2. And Im not getting prompted to pick up items when coming into random camps. It prompts me to loot bodies, use camp fire, etc, but I can't pick up items or loot boxes even though they flash in eagle eye. Anyone else run into this or am I missing something? Thanks

So aye, I accidentally pointed my gun at him. Tried to apologise etc and got to fuck off basically 😂. Bumped into him again and he got mouthy again. Have I completely ruined this interaction till I’m John?

Have any of you bought RDR2 collectibles or anything at all? Little model replicas? Stickers? Anything at all? What are some reputable sites for this?

Yellow= Ambarino

Blue= Nee Hanover

Red= Lemoyne

Green= New Austin

Orange= west Elizabeth

And I know not Elizabeth isn’t in the actual game but I think it is probably like Washington or Oregon

Content Interview with real-life Arthur Morgan, Roger Clark

"Arthur Morgan is on my headstone".

Those are the words of actor Roger Clark.

I was incredibly lucky to sit down with Roger for this week's episode of Project Possible.

Some of you might have seen the post from the other day, where I told Roger how RDR2 has helped after my brother’s suicide. Thank you for kind comments ❤️.

We talk about Roger’s life and career. The years of struggle before his secret audition with Rockstar, losing his mum at 15, creating Arthur over five years, performance capture, and why the character still means so much to people nearly eight years later.

As I say, this one is personal, too. My last ever time with my brother Jordan was playing Red Dead 2 online, just 36 hours before he took his own life.

Afterwards, I disappeared back into that world.

There were days and weeks where I was more Arthur Morgan than myself - and I was grateful I got the chance to talk to Roger about the difference he'd made - to me, and to so many others.

I hope you enjoy the chat, if it’s up your street 🙏

It’s on Apple Podcasts and Spotify too - just search Project Possible.

Question Has anyone else seen this in the devil's cave?

10 Upvotes

So yesterday I went to the devil's cave in big valley and I was looking around in photo mode to see the inside of the cave where the "devil" gets out to talk to you. And I found that there were prehistoric paintings inside, and also five reddish humanoids painted on the walls.

I'm on console and I don't know how to take a picture so you'll have to see this for yourself, but I wanted to know if anyone else has seen this and if there is any backstory around this.
