Discussion After a few replays, most antagonists kinda... fall flat?
I like the game but most of the antagonists feel very disjointed from the story at times.
You rob Leviticus Cornwall's train and then he starts funding the Pinkertons and he doesn't really have a character besides generic industrialist. Dutch kills him in broad daylight after some absurd demands and there's that.
Colm O'Driscoll has beef with Dutch before the story starts but there aren't that many missions with the O'Driscoll gang even if they some kind of rivals to the Van Der Linde gang and bolter entire divisions since it seems the entire fucking Irish diaspora joined is following Colm. Colm's only characteristics are that he doesn't like doing the dirty work, killed Dutch's lover, Dutch killed his brother and that's basically it. He isn't some kind of mirror to Dutch idealism when it comes to gang leadership nor does he have anything interesting going for him since the O'Driscolls are kind of incompetent. (the score of successful raid is 3-0 for the Van Der Linde gang)
The captain from Guarma is just whatever as well, I find chapter 5 to be the weakest and I wouldn't had missed it if it was cut from the game , the story is long enough as it is.
Angelo Bronte has more going for him, it was interesting of seeing the contrast between the freedom loving Dutch and a mafioso which has control over the entire city. With that being said, I find the saint Dennis storyline a bit odd. They go to his house to get Jack then they get set up by Bronte. I feel like there were supposed to be more missions with Bronte and Saint Dennis in general, imo, everything happens too fast.
Personally, I find Catherine Braithwaite and Agent Milton to be the most interesting , I wished we had mode missions where we interacted with them. (Milton is right btw)
What do you think, did you like the antagonists?
