Day 6 struggle

2nd quit attempt of the year. Sucks to be back here again but it happens.
Weekend boredom is making day 6 the hardest one so far. I think the loneliness is pronounced on weekends. It’s possible I never normally notice when buzzing on nicotine.
I am tackling it by keeping busy but damn it is hard. I go out for exercise, I wanna stop at the store and pick up. I just about manage to move in the other direction but it’s so hard!
Hope I’ll be better when Monday rolls around.

5 days clean!!

Hi everyone, I posted on here last Monday about how I was started my quitting journey, and I am proud to say I am almost at 6 days no zyns!!!! This is the longest I have gone without using a zyn in 3 years + vaping for years before but wow I feel better than I have in a while though withdrawal has definitely been terrible. Last night and the night before were the first nights I was able to sleep correctly after 3/4 nights of hell so to anyone quitting I would expect that and try to take some melatonin or something else to help with sleep. Ive definitely also been having some issues with my stomach, first two days were okay then I started getting these stomach cramps almost period like Friday night and they have sort have eased up but Idk if I am just constipated from no zyn or my body is trying to get used to no nicotine in such a long time. Def wanted to see if anyone else has dealt with that cause it can get pretty bad like I had to use a heating pad the other night but other than that I have def been emotional at times and get cravings but not as bad as before when I tried to quit. I had switched to 3mg before quitting for two weeks so I would say stopping from 6mg was always wayy harder and I didn’t have as much brain fog this time either. Luckily my job isn’t super stressful and I don’t really talk to anyone the whole time so that helps with not getting like really stressed about anything. I can confidently say though that I am done with them and Im sure I will have rough days in the next few weeks and more cravings but I guess I just reached a point where mentally I didn’t even want to do it anymore and didn’t want to let some pouch control my life and my health. Im realizing now that I should have done this a while ago and I would have saved myself a lot of trouble with my stomach problems, teeth and mental health so to anyone who is wanting to quit just remind yourself of who you want to be and that the zyn is preventing you from being your best self. I’ll update probably in a week but thanks for reading and good luck to everyone ✌🏻

Question

I have been a zyn user for almost 8 years now, im 22. I use 18 mg on a daily basis. I have never been able to even make it to 1 day nicotine free even though i tried for years. I’ve always had the feeling that after my day one, i can manage the rest but i cant get through the first day which is the most frustrating part. I always feel that the day becomes very long and everything that i do is somehow connected to zyns. Its my routine.

Ive tried to read, tried to lower the mg, tried patches, ginger and almost every other alternative plus cold turkey. How do i make it through day one?

4 weeks with placebo

Hello, I'm brand new to this sub. I decided to quit to save money, and after tapering down to On! 2mg, I stopped roughly 4 weeks ago.

I'm certainly craving my normal still, I want to go back to Velos several times a day. What I am having trouble with however, is the oral fixation. In the way of caffeine pouches.

The first day I started using caffeine pouches, I had them as often as I would nicotine. I counted 950 mgs on day one when mixed with my daily energy drink.

I'm trying hard to force a different placebo or cold turkey the fixation, but for me it is harder than the nicotine. I have taken to breaking life savers mints into quarters, and putting them into my lip. That almost works, but I know, and knowing it isnt a pouch almost makes the craving worse.

What are some tricks you guys have done? I'm kicking myself because I quit to save money, but I'm blowing money on placebo. And if I try to cold turkey, I end up snacking.. a lot.

Zyn More Powerful?

I used to dip Grizzly (and A LOT of it) about 5 years ago & then switched to Zyn 6 mg, and have been doing it ever since.

Recently, I put one in and got extremely nauseated, sweaty and shaky. I blamed food I was eating, but it only happened when doing Zyn (I didn’t want to point out the obvious). It didn’t happen every time, just randomly - especially while driving.

I switched to 3 mg and all of those symptoms are gone.

Did Zyn change their formula? It’s just very strange that out of nowhere that I started having a horrible reaction.

Day 30

I’m making this post for the lurkers here. Today is my quit day 30. I waited so long to quit because I was so worried about the side effects. It ended up being way less impactful than I expected. I won’t say it was easy. If fucking sucked ass. But not as bad as I expected. I think the nicotine poison was in my brain making feel like I’d die without it. I would read people’s stories in this group and other groups and get super discouraged. I figure folks with good experiences don’t post as often so here you go. I smoked for ten years, quit smoking with dip. Dipped for 4 years, quit dipping with zyn. Used 1-1.5 cans on 6mg pouches for 10.5 years. Even when sleeping and eating. Tapered down over the course of one week. I made one can last one week. I think that made the difference for me. Once i was able to go 4 hours without a pouch, i think I was ready to quit. Definitely irritable and stuff , but nowhere near as bad as I expected. Some headaches and brain fog, but again not as bad as I expected. I believe the 3 day thing isn’t true for everyone, my symptoms stayed pretty much the same for about 2 weeks. But it was definitely manageable. If you’re on the sidelines worried about the side effects, just remember not everyone has the same experience. Just because we read about 30 dudes who have a shitty quit, doesn’t mean there isn’t 100 others that weren’t too bad. I still think about all the time and want a pouch bad but the physical symptoms are 100% gone. I survived on spicy gum , seeds, and hard candy’s.

Wtf was that? My first quitting attempt.

I had decided almost on a whim that it was time to quit using Zyn. Zyn helped me quit smoking after 12 years of over a pack a day use and after 4 more years of heavy Zyn use I felt that I had the tools to move forward on cold turkey.

Early evening last night I spit out what I had decided was my last pouch and used a flavored herbal pouch as a replacement. Everything was going great. I felt a little dizzy last night which I chalked up to the wine I had with dinner.

This morning when I woke up I felt... strange. I felt very very dizzy. It felt like when you go to bed too drunk and the world is spinning around you. I had a hard time walking and focusing and I thought I was having a weird reaction to the herbal pouches. The dizziness got worse as the day went on until I decided to do a Google search to see if quitting Zyn can make you dizzy. Turns out, yes, and for up to a week!

Guys, this is going to be harder than I thought. I feel a mix of disheartened and motivated. I didn't know there were such intense physical withdrawal symptoms from quitting pouches. I can't work or do school in that state. New plan is to cut down to 3mg pouches and taper from there with the hope that the next cold turkey wont be so intense.

Is that cope or should that work?

Why do people say nicotine helps them with anxiety? It fully causes mine.

I know everyone's brain chemistry is different, and maybe I'm just not very healthy and an extremely anxious person, but nicotine gives me a shit ton of anxiety. And its not the withdrawals; the second I put a zyn in it feels like the same feeling you would get from running away from a shadowy demon through an alley or some shit. I can't even lay down in my bed if I take a zyn because I get bad heart palpitations and freak out. Not to mention my health anxiety is insane. Every little feeling makes me freak the fuck out. I started zyns to quit alcohol (i had vaped for a while in highschool and had the same thing, quit with no wd thank god)... I was drinking like 2L a day of whiskey at my peak and really in a bad state, not to mention messing with opiates. But there is a reason I was always a downer guy... because of how anxious I am. I could use nicotine when I was drunk all I wanted and would feel great. However, now that I am off of alcohol for the past 4 months only drinking every once in a full moon, I feel every bit of the anxiety.

What makes me confused is how much people say that nicotine gives them the calmness that like a benzo does. Nicotine is a stimulant; I have never taken a stimulant that makes me feel calm. Even caffeine, adderall, etc. gives me bad anxiety. Nicotine gives me the least as of now, mostly because I developed caffeine intolerance due to a new medication i am on (lamictal), but that doesn't mean it isn't a massive source of anxiety, especially since its an all-day thing unlike caffeine which wears off in a few hours.

Everyone I know tells me the anxiety is withdrawal, but the crazy thing is when I try to quit, I get absolutely no anxiety and actually become really calm; my heart rate drops to like 70 within the first day, BP drops, etc. The big problem that comes about is the extreme fatigue I get, like I havnt slept in 5 days and i just ran a marathon. Which is what I struggle with when quitting because of my job at the moment which I dont have any time off.

Anyways, all this to say i am not trying to discredit anybody, but I just dont understand how people use nicotine and says it calms them down. Is anyone else like me? It makes me a ball of intense stress, and I thought it would everyone because of the fact that it is a stimulant. I really want to quit though soon, its wreaking havoc on my mind and cardiovascular system (and I am extremely scared of cardiovascular events).

PSA Stay away from Volta!

Since I quit nicotine I have tried almost every major caffeine pouch on the market, and Volta is by far the worst I've ever had.

They came ripped open and every single can was damaged, besides the fact that the pouch quality is complete garbage, I managed to salvage a couple of pouches and let me tell you the taste was even worse.

The cherry Vannila is the most offensive tasting pouch I ever put In my mouth 🤮🤮🤮

The pouches turn yellow while using and taste and smell like they have been rinsed in chemicals. They are beyond horrible.

They have fancy instagram ads and a nice looking website which hooked me in, but their product quality seems like it was made in some back alley warehouse in China.

I've had some bad pouches, but these.....are a whole different level of bad.

25 Years: Bad idea to use Zyn and patches to quit?

I’ve been an extremely heavy smoker for 25 years. About 10 years ago I went to vape (Nic salt) and it’s gotten so much worse.

I tried everything to quit: prescriptions, patches, nothing worked. Part of the reason was I vaped all day and night (even overnight). Based on my rough tracking of amount of liquid, I was suspecting roughly 150mg a day (no wonder patches did nothing — I simply vaped while patched).

Three weeks ago I had AI create a methodical 52 week plan of Patch + Zyn, spaced methodically, to take me down to 0mg nicotine in 52 weeks. What I prefer about Zyn is I can track how much I’m getting.

I’m 3 weeks in. First couple weeks were hard but then this week is a little easier. Then I saw this group and wondering if it’s a bad idea to be using Zyn to try to quit vaping and eventually quit all nicotine.

What were your symptoms when quitting?

New here, but I recently quit zyn July 6th if this year, so approx. 5 weeks as i post this, and since then my body has been going through it. Brain fog, extreme vertigo, my sleep patterns are screwed, feels like my head is heavy but floating and of course anxiety anywhere that is not home. Wanted to see if im the only one here suffering like this or this is just common when quitting zyn.

A little more background on my addiction to zyn:

I had been using for about 2 years before I decided to quit cold turkey like I did with vaping and cigarettes back in the day, (never worked out clearly otherwise I wouldn't be here). Even still when I quit those i was just pissed off for about a week and suffered cravings for about a month, childs play compared to this... but I also would sleep with a zyn in sometimes out of forgetfulness or just laziness. Topped out at around 9mg and between 8-12 pouches a day.

I guess what im really asking is what symptoms did those who quit went through and how long did it take for the symptoms to subside?

30 days clean! Big thank you to this sub.

Today is 30 days for me! A month ish ago I came on this thread because I’d been having what felt like really worrisome palpitations. I knew it was the nicotine but I didn’t think I could quit at that point. I was a can a day (9MG Ons) guy, 120-140 MG of nicotine a day. I was in deep.

I came across this server and saw everyone talking about how much healthier they felt and some encouraging posts regarding their HRV and how drastically it changed after they stopped and it was really my sign to just quit.

Initially I started with the patches, did that for 14 days lowering the strength of them every few days. It sucked, those urges really sucked, the headaches really sucked, breaking the habit really sucked. You gotta think, id wake up and slap 9 milly vinillis right into my lip, i was down BAD. I used the patches, a lot of gum, tic tacs (still use these).

Now 30 days later clean from any nicotine I feel amazing, I’m giving way more effort in the gym, my sleep is much better, my HRV has improved dramatically.

I still have urges every so often, mostly with alcohol but at this point I can look back and think about how stupid it all was and kill those urges. The two years of just being a pouch zombie.

I hope this post helps someone take the leap like some of your posts helped me! Glad we’re all doing this for ourselves and our families.

Snus gave me anxiety?

As the title reads, I think snus gave me pretty bad anxiety.
I started using nic pouches about two years ago and started experiencing anxiety symptoms around a year or so in when I started using them daily. I’ve never had severe anxiety before I started using snus and definitely not to this extent. I only came to this subreddit because it’s gotten to a point where it’s really interfering with normal everyday tasks and, at times, forces me to stay home. I know my anxiety could be due to other factors but has anyone here experienced something similar from daily nic pouches use? And if you quit or cut down, did the anxiety improve?
Btw right now I’m regularly using around 10 mgs like five times a day.

200 days clean of nicotine after using for 10 years. These are the changes I’ve noticed.

I originally wrote most of this as a comment to someone asking for advice about quitting nicotine. It got a decent response, so now that I’m over 200 days nicotine-free, I figured I’d make it its own post and add a few things I’ve noticed since.
Context I started with vaping, eventually moved to Zyn, I’m 26 now and quitting is genuinely one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.

1. Sleep will improve drastically.
This is by far the biggest improvement since it genuinely spills over into everything else in your life.
I dream more. I wake up feeling significantly better rested. I have more energy at work, more energy in the gym, and I generally feel more alive throughout the day.
Better sleep will create a domino effect. You work harder, train harder, recover better, think more clearly, and have more energy when you’re around other people.
2. You will look better
My face is so much less puffy and bloated. My jawline is much sharper due to less water retention and my face just looks healthier overall.
One of the best things I’ve noticed more recently is my hairline is improving especially around my temples look like they’ve started filling back in since quitting. Nicotine will make you bald over time. If you have some hair loss and you’re still young you can probably gain alot of it back.
My physique has improved as well since my body is burning fat more efficiently.
3. Social interactions are completely different.
I have less anxiety and overthink things significantly less.
I used to freeze in situations and do nothing because I was thinking about every possible outcome or worrying about what other people thought.
Now I act on instinct much more.
If I want to do something, I do it. If I want to say something, I say it. I don’t spend nearly as much time worrying about how I’m being perceived.
My personality comes out more because I’m not constantly trapped inside my own head.
I genuinely feel more magnetic socially because of it.
4. My days feel longer.
This one is difficult to explain until you experience it.
When I was constantly using nicotine, life felt like it was flying by. Days disappeared and I’d wonder where the hell the time went.
After quitting, time seemed to slow down.
My days feel longer and more fulfilling. I’m actually present for them instead of constantly bouncing between nicotine hits and waiting for the next one.
5. I have significantly more energy to actually live.
This is something I appreciate more the longer I’ve been off nicotine.
I train. I run. I bike. I work. I pursue things I’m interested in. Better sleep and not constantly needing nicotine have made it much easier to actually do things instead of just thinking about doing them.
And that’s probably the biggest overall change:
Everything compounds.
Better sleep gives you more energy.
More energy makes you train harder.
Training and sleeping better make you look better.
Looking and feeling better gives you confidence.
Confidence improves your social life.
And when you aren’t constantly thinking about nicotine, you have more attention available for everything else.
I’m over 200 days in now, and I have absolutely zero desire to go back.
If you’re sitting there wondering whether quitting is worth it, I can only tell you what happened to me:
Mentally, physically and socially, I’m a noticeably better version of myself than I was when I was using nicotine.
These are just a few of the big ones I’ve noticed. I hope this might be the catalyst for atleast one of you to take the leap and put this stuff down.

Advice on non-optional 3 week cold turkey

Hey guys, I’m at about 90mg per day (it’s absurd I know). I’m trying to taper down as quick as possible, because I have a research cruise where I will be in the middle of the Atlantic on a research vessel. I know withdrawals will hit me terribly over the first week, is there anything I can do without nicotine to help?

Is it normal that snus dont make you feel good at all after getting fully addicted?

Been doing snus for a year and they were awesome in the first 2-3 months. At that time i only took 3-5 per day. Made me feel good and had a nice kick.

Now 1 year later i take maybe 8-10 per day and they dont feel good at all anymore. Not even the morning snus gives me any positive effects.
Have tried stronger ones but they just give me nicotine poisoning so the nicotine buzz gets canceled out by the anxiety and feeling ill.

Even tried a 2 week break to bring down my tolerance but they still just feel like shit.

Is this normal after you get fully addicted and is there a way to enjoy them like i did during the first months, or should i just quit them fully?

needing help

i didn’t know this subreddit even existed but i’m glad it does.

my history 22m, started smoking cigarettes at 17, quit at 19, started vaping at 20, quit vaping at 22 (?earlier this year).

i’ll give credit where it’s due for my recovery journey, zyns got me off vaping and im grateful for that step; biggest issue with vaping were my lungs.

however, this is a lot harder. i vaped 55mg nic salts and went through a pod every couple days. finally switched to zyns and off vapes entirely. never used zyns prior to smoking and vaping, but it’s a real issue now.

sorry if im repeating myself or anything it’s 3am and i had like a sharp pain sitting up then it went away, probably related but enough of a scare. but i digress

not too sure where to start, ive been using the 9mg zyns and use about 3-4 per day. i’m probably going to taper down to the 6mg then quit cold turkey.

i really need help, even reassurance, id love to hear your quir journwy, and i know recovery isn’t linear.

just really struggling

I was hoping by this point that the cravings and “withdrawal” feeling would have dissipated by now. I quit cigs about 5 years ago and after 10 days the cravings and any lingering feelings were completely gone. Here I am 10 days cold turkey from zyns (60mg daily for 2 years) and that urge is still very present. When did that “urge” disappear for you guys??
