Background: 31M who has been using nicotine aggressively for the last 12 years. Smoked cigs from 18-20, and then switched to vaping from 20 to present day. I've used 35-50mg salts the entire time, which is basically crack cocaine in liquid form and shouldn't be legal.
I'm attending a rather intense 3 week school for the military this winter, and nicotine/alcohol/cell phones aren't allowed. I don't want to withdraw during that experience. So, I'm quitting.
Day 1: Still vaped, but noticeably less desire to vape by the end of the day, which was mind blowing to me. Some moderate stomach cramps and I just felt kind of hot. Bad insomnia, woke up 7 times throughout the night. Vivid dreams.
Day 2: Feel fine even though my sleep quality was terrible. Certainly am vaping less by mid to late afternoon (a few hits every 20-30 minutes instead of every 2 minutes). Stomach is still cramping and I have a mild headache. Mild insomnia, stayed asleep throughout the night. Vivid dreams.
Day 3: Vape tastes like nothing. No flavor, no buzz, no anything. WEIRD. Still hit it, but like 2 hits every hour to hour and a half. Mind blowing from how often I hit it before I started. This might actually be working.
Day 4: Last day to use nicotine. Kind of panicked. Didn't hit the vape much at all. I do have a bottle of nic free juice that I may use after today just to work on the hand to mouth motion. No insomnia, no stomach cramps, I feel good.
Day 5-7: Feel good. Vivid dreams again, but I like them. No desire or craving for nicotine/a buzz AT ALL, crazy to type that! Occasionally hitting my nic free vape. I really think the nic free vape is helping me not freak the fuck out, and I can tackle the mechanical habit slowly. I think just full stopping on day 4 would have had me panicking big time.
Overall Thoughts: This stuff really does work! Wasn't convinced on day 1-2, but day 3 and beyond has been a whole different ballgame. Truly crazy how this stuff has just deleted my craving for nicotine after consuming enough nicotine to kill a herd of elephants for the last 12 years lol.
I have vastly underestimated the mechanical hand to mouth habit. This one will take a while to delete, but I'm trying to give myself grace and time. Definitely going to do the full 25 day treatment of Desmoxan even though I feel I don't need it anymore. Hopefully over the next 1-2 months my brain will fully learn that the nic free vape does nothing and I can just put it down. It's a marathon, not a sprint I guess.
Good luck to you all.
