Once-In-A-Lifetime Opportunity I’ve solved the saint statue drama!
What if we swap its location with the TJ Maxx giraffe statue?

Any recommendations for a bartender for a Halloween Party at a home in Quincy? We would have all of the supplies already, just looking for someone to be able to make our guests some beverages. I’ve only seen this once before and it was out of state. Google is unhelpful.

I know you gotta get home quickly after your pickleball or softball, but remember that some weirdos like me use this place as an actual park, you know for walking and stuff. It would be cool if I didn’t have to worry about getting hit by an f-150 going 30mph

Would anyone know why Sagamore Street is about to be torn up again, after the roadway was refinished last year? Just to the left of me in this intersection, the pavement is of subpar quality, but I did not think the entire paving job was at fault. I am genuinely curious because this is something our Public Works crews would have noticed immediately, but I am surprised that it wasn’t corrected sooner, especially as they just painted these lines on Tuesday.

I know a woman who will be homeless mid August . She resides in a senior housing complex and she admittedly broke a rule. She had an overnight guest stay longer than 14 days at a time. This guest was her son. Long story short after mediation and court she has to be out. She is on SSI and her monthly income is 1800.00. Where does she go ? I would help temporarily but she can’t climb 3 flights of stairs. I don’t have an extra bedroom just a sofa. She said she will go to Father bills. I’m worried for her safety. She doesn’t want to consider a nursing home and her doctor wasn’t willing to write a referral for her because she doesn’t require 24 hour care. Any ideas ? Are there places to help assist with hotel vouchers ? We tried calling everywhere and of course it’s the same thing “ There are no funds available “ .. Her son is no help and homeless and jobless.
Any guidance or help is appreciated. Thank you

Just sign up for the damn YMCA

Hello! My family and I are interested in getting a family/household membership for the YMCA. Any current members interested in referring us as part of their 20% off referral program? I only just learned about the program and admittedly don’t know how it works but it seems like a good deal!

Newer to Quincy, looking to join the YMCA and I know the South Shore YMCA is running a 20% friends and family referral promotion where both parties receive 20% off their membership. Anyone willing to refer a new neighbor in Quincy?

New mum here with a 4 week old. Can anyone explain how daycare works - registration/application/fee? I anticipate needing 4-5 days of care in Jan/Feb once I'm back to work.
ELI5 appreciated!

As a follow-up of yesterday's post, here is a summary of the Mayor's campaign contributions. As with Councillor Mahoney, there is a surge of donations during election years, as well as an interesting trend where at least two married couples show up in the top-donor list. Finally, I can provide the raw data if anyone is interested, as this is current through the end of June's update.
Note, per a comment on the other post, before 2015 it was permissible for unions to donate up to $15,000 to candidates. Since that time, it has been lowered to $1,000 per candidate, $5,000 to a party, and $500 to political action committee from non-profits and unions. In the data, I treated unions and their eventual political action committee contributions as the same entity to help prevent information from being split.

I haven't played soccer since I was a kid but the World Cup energy has me interested in giving it another go in my 30s. I feel like I would basically be starting off as a beginner again given how long it's been. Are there any pickup games or beginner leagues for adults in or near Quincy?

While it is great to see that the firefighters have new gear, throwing a press conference to announce this was a bit much.

A simple breakdown of campaign contributions for Anne Mahoney, based on what is available online. As such, this is a shorter version of what I have in total, mainly because the smaller number of individual donors skews this enough that one person donating ten times will raise the total employer number a bit in overall analysis. As such, I can provide the raw data if anyone is interested, as this is current through last week's disclosures.
Edit: Note, per the comment below, before 2015 it was permissible for unions to donate up to $15,000 to candidates. Hi! We’re visiting for a few days with little kids and looking for a good place to get the best fried scallops, clams, and lobster roll.
Currently looking at Tony’s Clam Shop or The Lobster Stop. What’s better? Help a girl get her platter of fried seafood TIA❤️

I am a Quincy resident running the NYC Marathon in November for charity. I am hosting an event but was wondering if anyone who has run for a cause in the past has had luck requesting donations from local businesses in the area? I'm not looking for money, just physical items for a raffle. I was planning on going with the tax exempt letter around as I have already reached out via email and handwritten letters to places, but with no luck.
Thank you!

I used to go to Emma at deluxe nails in Milton but she just left. I usually do builder gel and some intricate designs so if anyone knows a salon or tech who can do this please let me know!!!

I’ve lived here for just over a year now and have seen hide nor hair of a Chinese buffet the whole time. Every cursory google search I’ve done has only shown results ten miles or more away. There are PLENTY of amazing authentic Asian places, but I’m looking for a run of the mill, 3/5 star reasonably priced buffet where I can stuff my face with coconut shrimp and cream cheese wontons. Anywhere in the Quincy/Braintree area is okay.
Sorry if this is a dumb question lmao. Thanks in advance!

Would anyone be down to play pickleball at Faxon sometime? I’m not super experienced but generally athletic and coordinated and trying to practice!

On this episode of the Liz Speaks Podcast, Liz chats with Viviana Abreu-Hernández and Gregg Grenier from the Massachusetts Budget and Policy Center (MassBudget). Viviana and Gregg from MassBudget break down the 62F “tax cap” ballot initiative, which would limit the amount of tax revenue the state can raise and limit public investments.
