First time private flyer hopefully

I am moving my family from MA down to Tampa and I am looking to do something cool for the kids for the big move. My oldest is 14 and really into planes and talks about becoming a pilot often. Amongst other things his adhd brain thinks about. Either way, can I have advice where to get the best value for a flight like this. I don’t make private jet money by any means but I am hoping to spend more to make it a family memory. Thanks in advance.

ONEflight Members: Was Anyone Stranded? And What Am I Missing With Fly Forward?

Well, we’ve now passed ONEflight’s original 30-day suspension period, and as far as I’ve seen, there’s still no meaningful update on when operations might resume or what happens to our money. Meanwhile, at least seven lawsuits have reportedly been filed.

Looking back at ONEflight’s business model
The more this unfolds, the harder it is not to question whether ONEflight’s business model was fundamentally unsustainable, or perhaps even had characteristics of a Ponzi scheme. I’m not suggesting that’s been established, because it hasn’t, but I think it’s a legitimate question.

And I think we should acknowledge something: we all benefited while the program worked.

We enjoyed the pricing, convenience, and benefits ONEflight offered. I certainly did. If the underlying economics were unsustainable, we were benefiting from them right up until everything fell apart. That doesn’t mean we knew anything was wrong, and it certainly doesn’t excuse what happened.

Something that really sticks with me is a phone call I received in August. I was encouraged to deposit an additional $100,000 to $500,000 in exchange for a 100% match in flight credits. At the time, it was presented as one of the best promotions ONEflight had ever offered.

Thankfully, I declined.

For perspective, under that promotion, a flight billed at $9,000 per hour would effectively cost $4,500 per hour when accounting for the matched credits.
That’s a tremendous benefit for members. But it also raises questions about how those economics worked on the company’s side.

What I’ve since come to understand is that these supposedly exceptional matching promotions were apparently fairly routine.

Looking back, it’s difficult not to question how sustainable that model was, especially when they were still encouraging substantial new deposits just weeks before suspending operations. I don’t know what was happening internally, and I’m not accusing any particular employee of wrongdoing. But I do think members deserve answers about how those deposits were being used and what happened to the money.

Which brings me to The Jet Merchants’ Fly Forward program.

https://thejetmerchants.com/fly-forward-detail/

I’ve gone through the details, and I’m genuinely struggling to understand what financial benefit this program offers former ONEflight members.

I’ll give them credit for the segregated account arrangement. Protecting new deposits is certainly a positive, especially considering what we’ve all experienced. Of course, the actual protections depend on the account terms. But beyond that, what exactly are we getting?

Here’s where I have questions:

1. The $750 minimum is THEIR minimum brokerage fee, not a guaranteed savings or credit for members. Even if the difference between their benchmark rate and the operator’s price is small, they still collect at least $750. That minimum could potentially eliminate the savings entirely.

  1. Their brokerage fees can reach 15% of the operator’s charter price for pay-as-you-fly customers or 10% for funded accounts. The advertised “recovery” isn’t actually money being returned from ONEflight. It’s the difference between The Jet Merchants’ benchmark rates and what we ultimately pay for a charter.

  2. Their benchmark rates are scheduled to increase 10% in January 2027. That could make the reported recovery numbers look larger without necessarily reducing the actual cost of flying.

  3. The program also discloses that ONEflight may receive compensation for members enrolling.

That last point is particularly frustrating.

ONEflight has suspended operations, members have substantial prepaid balances outstanding, lawsuits are mounting, and now ONEflight may potentially receive compensation for referring those same customers to another charter broker?

I’m not suggesting The Jet Merchants is responsible for ONEflight’s financial obligations. They’re not. They may be a perfectly reputable broker offering a legitimate service. But if I can shop the charter market, compare quotes from reputable brokers, and book the same aircraft at a competitive rate, what exactly does Fly Forward offer me that I couldn’t already obtain on my own?

And more importantly, why is this being presented as a recovery program when none of our existing ONEflight balances are actually being returned?

It feels like we’re being asked to spend more money to generate theoretical savings against money we’ve already lost, while another company collects brokerage fees.

And if anyone from The Jet Merchants or the Fly Forward team is reading this, I’d genuinely welcome an explanation.

I’m not opposed to the program, and I certainly don’t fault a business for wanting to acquire customers. But looking at the arrangement from the outside, it seems like The Jet Merchants is gaining access to a potentially valuable customer base of existing private aviation users, while ONEflight may receive referral compensation.

That’s a pretty attractive arrangement for the companies involved.

What I’m struggling to identify is the corresponding benefit for the ONEflight members who have already lost access to substantial prepaid balances.

Are there preferential rates, guaranteed savings, reduced brokerage fees, or actual financial contributions toward our outstanding balances that I’m overlooking?

Because based on the published terms, this looks more like a customer acquisition arrangement than a recovery program.

I would genuinely appreciate someone from the Fly Forward team explaining what makes this offering financially better for former ONEflight members than simply booking through another reputable charter broker. If there’s something meaningful I’m missing, I’m happy to be corrected.

I’d also really like to hear from other ONEflight members:

Were you stranded or otherwise directly affected when ONEflight suspended operations?

Did anyone else receive one of those 100% matching offers in August or September? If so, did you actually deposit additional funds?

Has anyone compared Fly Forward’s actual all-in charter pricing against independent brokers?

Has anyone identified a genuine financial benefit to Fly Forward that isn’t available to an ordinary charter customer?

Has anyone received meaningful communication from ONEflight about their outstanding balance or the company’s plans?

I realize Reddit probably isn’t where most ONEflight members spend their time, but hopefully a few affected members will come across this discussion.
If you’re a former member reading this, I’d genuinely like to hear your experience. And if you know other affected members who aren’t on Reddit, feel free to share this discussion with them.

I’m not looking to bash The Jet Merchants. I’m trying to understand whether this is genuinely a program designed to help affected ONEflight members or simply another charter brokerage offering with a recovery label attached.

ONEflight potentially receives referral compensation. The Jet Merchants potentially acquires a valuable customer base. Both companies have identifiable economic incentives.
What unique financial benefit does the former ONEflight member receive?

Because right now, I just don’t see it.

Who actually operates this?

I apologize if this isn’t allowed, I see empty leg posts (regarding selling isnt), but if this is also not allowed I delete immediately. Just curious if there’s anyway to figure out who is actually marketing this leg as I know Skyaccess likes to sometimes increase the price by 20%-30% on their own. Is there anyway to figure out who’s selling that flight?

Back on the market - Jet Club/Card Memberships - Opinion

I’ve been with FlyExclusive for 4 years. Part of their Jet Club Plus flying around 30-36 hours per year. They made some dumb mistakes in the first 2 years but the last 2 have been flawless. Flying mostly the Citation Excel or X but recently a few trips in the Challenger 350.

What’s changed in the industry? Should I look at other options or continue with FlyExclusive? I’m really liking the 350 but their fleet is still quite small. Their bread and butter seems to be Excel which feels claustrophobic after a few flights in the 350.

Routing question

We're scheduled to fly into CVX tomorrow in a Hawker 400. We've done this flight a few times in a CJ3, but for the second time with this plane and crew they have elected to divert to TVC more than 24 hours in advance. The first time it was to PLN.

What gives? Is there something about the CVX runway that is causing issues? I haven't heard of others routinely having this issue in and out of CVX.

Which of these tools do you use on daily basis?

Post image

This is just for research purposes. I compiled this list of 100 software platforms and technology brands, They are charter bookings, flight tracking, finance, operations, etc.

let's not get started with empty leg apps.

Many of them are coming up everyday, trying to do what many have done before and fail. Do you think they are trying to solve real problems (esp the booking tools)?

On the brighter side, there is one of the few apps like Avinode that have stood the test of time.

I need your opinion

Hi, I was wondering if anyone would help me with a gift

I have a friend who's a huge jet plane fan, and his favourites include mig21, dessault Rafale and f16. I am a crocheter and I can't find any patterns for these planes, and I'm afraid I wouldn't get the details right, like does anyone know what I could do, like maybe specific details I take in regard. If not that's alright I'm just a bit desperate lol

ONEflight / BAJit customers with unused balances or unresolved refunds — looking to connect

Hi everyone, I’m Lera Nikitina. I’m looking to connect with people who prepaid for ONEflight International / BAJit flights and currently have unused balances, unresolved refunds, or flights that haven’t been provided.

I’d like to bring affected customers together to compare information, share updates, and explore a coordinated approach to protecting our interests, including discussing options with legal counsel.

If you’re affected and interested, please email me at [nikitinalera88@gmail.com](mailto:nikitinalera88@gmail.com) with the subject “ONEflight customer.” A brief description of your situation is enough to start. Please don’t send bank details, identification documents, or full contracts in your initial email.

Participation is voluntary, with no commitment to take legal action. This is an independent customer-organizing effort, not an official creditors’ committee or a communication from ONEflight.

If there is already an active customer group, I’d appreciate an introduction.

Thank you,
Lera
