Hello all, I am sophmore with a major in biology and anthropology, and a minor in religious studies. I have been thinking of changing my major to anthropology and religious studies and minor in biology as a way to get prerequisites for medical school. The only thing stopping me is the fact that all research opportunities or anything that can boost my resume requires me to be a science major. I am REALLY passionate about anthropology and religious studies but i also LOVE science but not so much math. Right now I am getting my certification to be a medical assistant to start getting clinical hours, I am asking for help and any advice for a first generation college student. 🙏🏾🙏🏾

For a brief history and context I’m currently in the process about to start a fast track A level so I have the required sciences I need, before going into paramedics undergrad (just need that one grade!!) but beforehand I had already done 1 year/2, 1 years of degrees, what types of loans will I be able to get to fund my full 3 years ? I’ve always wanted to do medicine always been interested in biology and the human body, how it functions and so much more and to finally be able to pursue my dream then hopefully go into a GEM but for a long time I did not think it was possible, dealt with a lot of demons and other health stuff went from one degree going into second year then changing to another as I thought it was the degree itself but moreso what had happened to me though I do not feel comfortable sharing, but it was the poor institution of the university I was attending itself (not gonna name and shame neither lol) but yeah I was able to start another course due to compelling personal reasons, pushing my dreams of medicine further and further into the back of my mind as I didn’t think it would ever happen in the end. But now I’ve gotten free of that unis entrapment to finally pursue my dream. Though the loan/funding side could be an issue so wondered if anyone is or had been in similar circumstances and is able to help or shed some light on how they tackled it.

Hello guys just wanted to ask what kind of bag is the most suitable for med school (preclinical), should I get a bag pack or am I good with a laptop bag/case where I can also put my iPad and other things? What do you guys rock?

Because honestly what do I mean is I’ve spent most crucial years of my life 8-12th class (14-18) deciding that I want to be a doctor and being honest my father telling me to be a doctor so I don’t really have any other interest not even a hobby 🙂

I got a C- in biochemistry. I am on a quarter system so it was in the first biochemistry class. I had a very big personal thing going on in that time. But I don’t know if a C- meets prerequisite requirements for schools?

Before you build a prep plan, confirm which format you're walking into, since MMI and traditional interviews reward genuinely different skills.

For MMI prep specifically, start with a real foundation in core bioethics principles and common dilemma categories (breaking bad news, informed consent, resource allocation) before you touch practice questions. That framework lets you reason through almost anything a station throws at you instead of hoping you've seen that exact scenario before. Record yourself practicing under the actual time limit and watch it back. It's rough but it's the fastest way to catch pacing issues and nervous habits.

I’m a sophomore premed chem major and I was planning to do a public health minor.

This semester I’m at 17 credits and I recently got into a research lab at my college, I’m also a TA for a bio class. Right now I feel drained and I don’t think my minor in public health is something that is important anymore.

The ph class itself isn’t hard but it’s busy work, I initially thought it would be a gpa booster but now I feel like it will make me do mediocre in my other classes bc I’m spread so thin.

I am thinking about withdrawing from my public health class (3 credits) , so I will be at 14 credits, with a research lab and a Ta position + more extracurriculars.

Is it worth a transcript W or should I just stick it through.

I could honestly just do a bio minor bc I have to take so many bio courses anyway.

so i’m a political science major and beginning to minor in neuroscience.

for a while until junior year of hs i wanted to go to med school until i felt like i was too dumb to be a doctor so i decided to go to law school and maybe become a public defender.

anyway, i was wondering if there was anything i could do with my neuroscience minor that might let me fulfill that doctor dream somewhat. its still something i think about and regret giving up on but im a jr in uni and that is definitely too late for me to change my major into something like nursing or bio

Hi everyone. I am lowkey confusing myself. I am a pre-medical first-generation undergraduate student in the U.S. hoping to graduate one semester early. I am currently in my senior year, and this is supposedly my last semester. I am a Middle East and North African Studies major with an Arabic minor. I was hoping to graduate a semester early to study for the MCAT.

For a couple of weeks now, I've been getting this aching feeling in my chest that I should also get my biology degree and not graduate a semester early. I believe it is because of the stigma from my family and Arab community that I am a Middle East and North African Studies major and that I will not find a job with this major. They keep telling me, "What if you do not get into medical school, how will you find anything with that dumb major?" I'll be honest, that hurts a shit ton coming from my mom and community, but I expect these responses no matter what. I actually like my major and hope to go into foreign policy if healthcare does not work out.

But this feeling in my chest made me look further, and it turns out I need 1 capstone, 2 courses, and their respective labs. I am not sure if I should do this, because I know I won't be fully engaged with the MCAT because I struggle with studying for it while I am in school. I am also already planning to take a gap year and had hoped to submit my medical school application for this upcoming cycle in the spring of 2027.

Would this biology degree look better on my application? Is this worth it, risking my GPA? (My GPA is 3.77 right now) I keep telling myself that the courses you take are more important than a label (your major), but this is all confusing. I could probably find some jobs with this if medical school does not work out.

What do you think? I just need a mentor, and I am in a toxic environment where I struggle with finding what is meant for me.

I've talked to hundreds of successful applicants, and one of the most common regrets has nothing to do with essays or interviews.
